Powerlord Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 So, hopefully Valve irons out whatever is wrong with Steam's servers by tomorrow. I'm tired of having my character just freeze for 15 seconds while everyone else keeps moving around. I finally got fed up with it on ctf_doublecross (a map I really like) and quit.
HoopyFrood Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Just to let you guys know, I won't be able to play TF2 for awhile. My trackball's left click stopped working so I have to either replace it or try playing with the track pad on this laptop. Yeah right like I'm crazy enough to do that.
FireSlash Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 FS, what is the big idea billing us on the 21st?Bad from brah, bad form!! monthly from the day you registered brah

How the heck do you play a FPS with a trackball?
FireSlash Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 POLL TIME Force auto? Y/N bans for people who go spec and switch.
SporkNinjaDraken Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 as much as it may fix team stacking to a degree I'm going to vote no. Not that my opinion matters that much either way I just felt like chiming in.
Kenogu Labz Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 We practically force it anyway with the auto-balancing system; the spec-join is basically just a work-around. I'm in favor, since it wouldn't strongly change anything we're doing (as long as teams can be rebalanced if, say, half of one team QQs).
Bahamut Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I'm not a fan of forcing autojoin. It creates its own complications if friends want to play together, whether they're good or not.
ParanoidDrone Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Am I the only one who finds it more fun to try and kill your friends than to work together with them? Friendly rivalries and all that?
atmuh Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Am I the only one who finds it more fun to try and kill your friends than to work together with them? Friendly rivalries and all that? when you have a friend that doesnt play on a particular server that you play on very often but decided to join your game every once in a while its really stupid if the two of you cant play together
Bahamut Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Am I the only one who finds it more fun to try and kill your friends than to work together with them? Friendly rivalries and all that? Not all friend dynamics are that way, and some are more timid about entering a server they are completely unfamiliar with and being forced on a team when he/she just wanted to play with a friend. I think forcing autojoin would make the server less friendly to newer people with respect to that.
Vivi22 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 How the heck do you play a FPS with a trackball? I assume he's talking about the sort of trackball where it's larger and you move it with your thumb rather than the kind with it on the bottom of the mouse. I've actually heard people say it's accurate, and a lot faster once you get used to it.
HoopyFrood Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Something like that Vivi22. Here is the one I use.http://www.logitech.com/en-us/mice-pointers/trackballs/devices/166
Secret Agent Man Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Also voting no, mainly for the reasons stated above by Bahamut.
Bleck Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I think everyone is kind of overstating how important it is to play on your friend's team
atmuh Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 uh thats kinda what having a friend is obviously if its 2 regulars on the server they play together like every day so its not really necessary to be on each others team every map but yeah in other news i had way too much fun making this (obviously im not gonna camp like that on the ocr server but yeah its quite fun hopping around to upward servers)
Powerlord Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I'm REALLY tempted to vote yes to this, just because of how often we seem to have stacking problems.
