Brandon Strader Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Final Fantasy: Type O WTF Is It? Discuss thoughts, predictions as to what this could be... Countdown thread go! http://kotaku.com/5721163/what-is-final-fantasy-type+0 Google it and there's a plethora of sites with the press release asking WTF IS THIS?? Now we have our own...!? To edit in my own little thought here, I think it would be awesome if they actually made "Final Fantasy 0" which explains why there's all these different worlds with different adventurers and stories that are somehow linked..
Guy In Rubber Suit Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 It's a mash-up of Final Fantasy and Type O Negative. It's probably a new Final Fantasy, possibly a side story to an established story. I doubt it'll be something to explain why there are so many different Final Fantasy universes and try to connect them all. Honestly, I think that would be pretty dumb of Square Enix.
Anti-Syne Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I think it would be awesome if they actually made "Final Fantasy 0" which explains why there's all these different worlds with different adventurers and stories that are somehow linked.. I seriously hope it's nothing like this, I'm so sick of Square Enix doing 'by the way' sort of story telling, where they just add on plot points that are totally unnecessary and clearly not part of of the original plot, i.e. Dissidia's plot, FFIV: The After years, and every part of the FFVII sequels/prequels they've done to death.
Brandon Strader Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 I also get the impression that it could be either a chemistry (scientific) world or a lame card game..
Schwaltzvald Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Another potentially good route for SE to take Final Fantasy towards. XII had it write despite its story while XIII had the graphics and certain game mechanics, lets see them try again. Fixed it for ya.
LuketheXjesse Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I honestly didn't like XII much.
DiGi Valentine Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 15 was too high a number so they've decided to head backwards now. Bring on Final Fantasy -7.
The Damned Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Maybe they realized how much their last few games sucked and decided to just go back to simpler graphics, plots, characters and battle systems. Retro-reboot? That or a completely unrelated series that just used the Final Fantasy name for no reason other than to get the SE fanboys in on it... like all the other Final Fantasy games. OH! OH! I got it! It's called Type-O, right? Type-Os are considered sociable and optimistic. Maybe it's a new online thing. Sociable, social, they're kind of like the same thing. Maybe in their wacky Japanesey minds, this makes sense. It's a new online game. Also, type-Os are considered vain and arrogant, sort of like how SE acts sometimes.
Bleck Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I really hope this game is shitty, because for most people it will be the last straw and everyone will finally realize how awful Square has been the past few years and they will have to kick it back into gear and stop making awful games again.

This didn't work for Sega's Sonic though...
DarkeSword Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Hopefully it's another old-style spin-off style game like 4 Heroes of Light. That game is quite excellent.
Bleck Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 This didn't work for Sega's Sonic though... yeah but sonic was never good
The Derrit Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 i'm really cool and i too hate square enix for not making the exact same games they made in the snes era because new things are terrible and you are terrible for liking them

Bleck Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 new things are terrible and you are terrible for liking them yes basically
Barnsalot Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Maybe they realized how much their last few games sucked and decided to just go back to simpler graphics, plots, characters and battle systems. Retro-reboot? This would be amazing. But considering the kind of content Squenix has been pumping out for the last few years, this is a pipe dream.
Schwaltzvald Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 This would be amazing. But considering the kind of content Squenix has been pumping out for the last few years, this is a pipe dream. Could be worse such as SE becoming the "LJN" of this gaming era.
The Derrit Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 damnit derrit i wanted to make this post sorry bro i'm just too quick on the trigger also i enjoyed X and am in the process of enjoying XIII. wut.
Coyote-Trickster Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Could be worse such as SE becoming the "LJN" of this gaming era. Every time I hear "Square Enix" Lately they seem to push the "Could be worse" bar even higher. Like them taking Tomb Raider and slide in Kain and Raziel fro the Legacy of Kain series, Raziel busting caps in peoples asses... erh... okay.
Dissidia Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Can't say my hopes are high for this project. Dissidia Duodecim looks good though.
The Coop Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 It's an outcry for the blood donations that they so desperately need.
