SnappleMan Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 A REMIX is simply remixing the original song, meaning, having the original tracks, doing something to them, and mixing them back into a song. Now, I know that most people on this site DO remix, that is, take a MIDI from VGMusic, change it, and submit, but the REAL task we're trying to do is ARRANGE music.
lazygecko Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I just hope I didn't overdo it with mine, other than the bassline and melody (Which is barely recognizable as it is) there isn't much kept from the original.
k u n g f u c h i c k e n Posted October 14, 2005 Author Posted October 14, 2005 Eh, the original wasn't even that advanced. Just try to keep the feel almost the same.
Ichitootah Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Heh. It's a different issue with mine. I used almost the same notes for many of the sections, but the feel is completely altered. My excuse? The old feel was.. um.. ugly.
Hadyn Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Agreed! You've done awesome, making something ugly into something beautiful.

I can see that statement being true like 3-4 years ago, but not now. Almost everyone that passes does arrangements not remixing. Are you not reading a lot of judging decisions in the last year? OCR "Remix" is just a cool name, almost all the stuff, if not all the stuff we pass are arrangements. The only remixing I can think of that may or may not fall into this is techno/trance stuff, but even in these situations we hear a lot of real arrangement vs the stuff you cited.
Sir_NutS Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Storms are fun. One just left me without power for 5 days, and now my computer is acting like pure crap, now isn't that fun or wut?

I'm putting you back down for pending.
SnappleMan Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Gray, stop being a wanker You know that I only dislike the term "remixer" or "mixer". DJs remix, we don't. We're musicians who arrange music. The name of the website is of no concern to me, I just wish people would stop refering to eachother as "mixers"... to me that's hardware

It's all good.
danny B Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Actually, I was under the impression that "mixing" and "remixing" referred strictly to fader/aux/insert/send/patchbay/etc settings on a console or a DAW Workstation. That's how my engineer buddies use the term. I think popular culture perverted those terms into what we call a "ReMix". Anyway, THIS PROJECT IS GOING TO RAWK
DarkeSword Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 KFC has had his Site Project forum moderation powers revoked due to behavior issues. However, this does not mean that KFC is no longer one of the coordinators of this project. He started this project and has done a great deal of work to see it to completion. SnappleMan and KFC are still CO-coordinators. Carry on.
Holy Warrior Azar Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 no. Well now that that's out of the way, are we entilited to know who the mysterious collab partner was?
k u n g f u c h i c k e n Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 no. Well now that that's out of the way, are we entilited to know who the mysterious collab partner was? i think rexy.
KingTiger Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 so, does this mean that rexy is doing Boss 2 now, or is it somebody else, or is it yet to be determined?
Rexy Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Actually, Nuts was my collab partner for Hidden Palace. Yoshi84 was featured on Boss 2 last time I checked. We're still going to sub our track to VGMix when it's finished though
KyleJCrb Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Boss 2 in open. Check the first page, folks.
Arek the Absolute Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 This looks like all kinds of awesome. Always gotta support your fellow site projects
Hetcenus Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I just noticed, what happened to foxhound? He isn't doing Desert Palace anymore... EDIT: Also AkumajoBelmont isn't working with GeckoYamori anymore. And S|r NutS just left. I hope that's all...
Ichitootah Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I just noticed, what happened to foxhound? He isn't doing Desert Palace anymore... Didn't foxhound get a little miffed with KFC? It seemed like it by his comments in that apology thread or something.
Hetcenus Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Yeah, right. I'd completely forgotten about that. But for me it looked like that he actually left for having not enough time due to his Chemical Engineering Masters.
