orkybash Posted May 23, 2002 Posted May 23, 2002 Super Mario Bros. 'Underworld Rock' Wow. That's the only word that comes to mind after listening to this. Every element is placed perfectly, except for maybe an overuse of the jump sound. But overall a very tight remix, and one that everyone should download. Right now. No excuses. Even if you don't like music. That's right. Download now. . . . . Did I mention this is a must download? ^______________^ Quote
K. Praslowicz Posted June 21, 2002 Posted June 21, 2002 I could say this mix sucks. I could say that the guitar is weak and everything about this song it is a slap in the face to all that is true and pure. I would also be a big fat liar who needs to get his skull worked over with a ball-peen hammer because this track rocks. I really like the Guitar tone and chord choices. Nice and thick tone that is all full of love. The drumwork is pretty kick ass also. Very good tune. Quote
skawttieboy Posted June 21, 2002 Posted June 21, 2002 Ehhhh, can't say it's my favorite, but I will say it was very well done, and I did enjoy listening to this. The guitar provides good lead and good backgrounds as well. Quote
Old Omen Posted August 1, 2002 Posted August 1, 2002 A great mix. The guitar is impeccable, rich and full. The percussion is brilliant. The sound samples are a high point; they're hilarious. All around, it's a technical wonder, and not at all unpleasant to listen to - quite the contrary. A neck brace might be necessary after repeat listens. Highly recommended. Quote
bulletproofpossom Posted August 12, 2002 Posted August 12, 2002 Genius! I frequently found myself humming the underworld tune, even before I heard this remix. Now it's stuck in my head, and I claim this THE GREATEST REMIX OF ALL TIME!! Too bad I haven't heard all of them, but so far. P.S. I love the sound effects and the way they blend with and add to the music. Quote
PhantomMagi Posted August 18, 2002 Posted August 18, 2002 Two words: SWEET ASS!!! This remix on the classic underworld theme really caught my attention. Awesome guitar work throughout the mix. I loved this piece. It pays tribute to the great classic that is Super Mario. Mario himself would prefer this over the original theme. Quote
MegaMario2005 Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 This remix has a weird beginning, not the song I'd choose if I were doing a quick volume test, but after the first 10 seconds, it turns into a hard rock mix that's worth putting on repeat. Another creative technique was rolling some of the sound effects into the song, which always gives it a nice tweak. It would be interesting to see Metallica try some of this. Quote
Hadyn Posted November 26, 2002 Posted November 26, 2002 OMG, this is f*cking amazing!!! the guitar is awesome too! All i wanna know is how did you record the guitar soooo cleanly? what equipment did you use? Quote
A Can of Yoda Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 It's really nice, but the guitar sounds weak, it could use more bass... Quote
Lsnake Posted January 28, 2003 Posted January 28, 2003 Ahh man this is simply great. Its catchy, its heavy and it is damn cool. The Guitars are DEAD on, even up to a point where this songs becomes so catchy that is funny! I cant keep a serious face when listening to this, it just makes me more happy. Wonderful work here, even though it may not be the most technical remix ever, it is certainly one of the coolest! Quote
Edgar Mullinß Posted January 28, 2003 Posted January 28, 2003 this has got to be the best mix on here ive heard so far Quote
Psycrow Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 Schweeeettt.... I gots to hear more from this guy. Quote
LibertyCabbage Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 putting in annoying lines from an 80's song doesn't make this crappy remix any better Quote
Fieari Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Excuse me? Would you clarify that statement? Annoying lines from an 80s song? Quote
SquishyMon Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 LibertyCabbage is probably referring to "8-bit Eighties", it has the underworld music mixed with that annoying cheerleader song (hey Mario you so fine, you so fine you blow my mind...). Underworld Rocks has always been one of my favorites upon finding this site. Quote
LibertyCabbage Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 woops, yup i meant to post it for 8-bit eighties... i love underworld rock... i probably posted it here on accident because i was thinking how awesome a song UnderworldRock is when 8-bit eighties suxxors Quote
Cano Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 this is really cool!!! indeed it rocks. the heavy riffage make it even more enjoyable, and the "one-up" and "jump" and all the sounds in here make it really funny. as someone said, you cant help but to throw a smile at the "poing". sweetness. Cano Pooing!!! Quote
engine_num1 Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 who would have thought to do a remix of smb with a rock style twist? Not me! this song is great. Nothing is wrong with it in any way. Steady drum beat keeps the song going. but when the guitars come in to help carry the song...OMG its great. Definetly reccommended. A+ Quote
The H(8) of '06 Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 This song is awesome. The entire track sounds like he hired a rock band for a session and cranked out this bad boy. LoL, Awesome remix, again! Quote
dmarling Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 I've been totally blown away by this remix. It's good rock, and a fantastic remix. In fact, it is everything a remix should be: it is a creative re-interpretation of the original theme. I don't feel like I'm listening to just another in the endless stream of Mario remixes with this one. I feel like I'm listening to a fully original, inventive song idea with tasty bits of Mario thrown in for pleasure. DOWNLOAD THIS. Pity this is the only song submitted by dimmer. I'd download whatever else he posted without hesitation. Quote
Tsunami18 Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 The guitar sounded so great and clear. It really was well done. My compliments to the ReMixer. 8.5/10 - Very Nice job. Quote
Luigi2024 Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Definitely one of the most well-made remixes I have seen on the portal. The electric guitar is one of the many highlights of this piece- not mechanical sounding like in many remixes of this type, but very real (for lack of a better word). I'm surprised Dimmer hasn't done other remixes of songs here. However, there is one pity about this great work (I apologize if this is off-topic, but I believe this is necessary), in the fact that it, like many pieces, is open to stealing. Case in point: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/view.php?id=958091⊂=13129 BTW, it has been confirmed that whoever submitted this submission (ur_worst_nightmare) is indeed not Dimmer, so please, if you are a member of Newgrounds, blow the whistle on this (by giving the submission an "X" rating on it). 42 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 This is like someone dropped Super Mario Brothers and 80's rock into a blender and this was the result. Yet, it works and works well. Definitely original and worth listening to. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Not really feeling this, but it's apparent that some thought was put into making the arrangement a bit more fleshed out, with several breakdowns and some good drumwork. The guitars sounded decent, and the synth was ok, but there really wasn't a great hook for me to latch onto. Quote
jabond23 Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 I like this version. Its funny though, cause i was working a remix of this theme myself before i found this and it came out eerily similar. Oh well, its still a rockin' tune and the breakdowns are catchy Quote
