BlueMage
Only a single box running now (and not a quad-core beast - that's reserved for Crysis-averting) but hey, every little bit, right?
prophetik music
i finished my one WU...do i get officially added now? it was 5000, so i better =) my roommate, my fiancee, and four of my friends have started up on this too, and since they're all ocr appreciators i had them report our team as theirs. i also booted up two old desktop computers and my broken-screen lappy i had sitting around the house and added them to my account. Brushfire
Could you add me to the list. I have finished 1 Unit and am working on the second and more.
danimal cannon
I went to a seminar by a guy who was presenting his own prediction algorithms for protein folding just last week.
Vivi22
I've finished a few work units now I believe and would like to be added to the list. For some reason though it seems to be having trouble sending my results lately (on my two PC's running it anyway; I haven't run it on my PS3 in a while). prophetik music
i noticed the same problem. i think it's batching the results and loading them all together...i was stuck on 3 WU for a while and now all of a sudden i've got 10.
PhrygianFingers
Just successfully folded my first WU. I would like to be added to the folding team for OCRemix. Also, I will be setting up my linux box at home to run 24/7 at 100% this week. It's got liquid cooling, will push it to the max
Brushfire
Woo Hoo... With just 18 WUs I have rocketed to 45th on the OCR FAH Charts!
100_PERCENT ROEMER
Just realized that there were a few PMs of people wanting to be added to the roster. Sooo.... Roster updated!
Lifeformed
How long is a WU supposed to take? I just started this and my first WU is 5000 frames, and 1 frame is taking 30 minutes. The estimated finish time is 150 days? Did I just get unlucky?
prophetik music
you just are using your computer while its folding. mine was 5000 too, but it only ran when i wasn't using the computer and it was done in about two days. of course, you probably don't have as good of a computer as mine is, either, which doesn't help. Lifeformed
okies yeah, apparently it was working in 50-frame chunks. The estimated time is down to 1 day now.
100_PERCENT ROEMER
So I finally got off my lazy ass and organized the OCR member's list. Behold it in its alphabetized glory
prophetik music
according to standard library practice, 'the' doesn't count as a T. in fact, it generally is disregarded in general. just fyi.
PhrygianFingers
In regards to the slow frame time, it really all depends. On the same protein, i've had it fluctuate between 2 minutes a frame and 8 minutes a frame. I would assume 8 minutes a frame because something I'm compiling or running multiple processor intense programs at once. Overall though, once you are about an hour (maybe even 20-30 minutes) in, you have a general feel for when the WU will be done.
zpeterz63
I started using the SMP client not to long ago and I just have to say wow. The work units are work insane amounts of points. I went from running two single core programs (I've got a dual core Opteron) to one SMP client and my contribution rate has skyrocketed. I suggest the SMP client to anyone who has a multicore CPU, even if it's just a dually.
prophetik music
when i went to DL that, it just gives me a 403 ACCESS FORBIDDEN (at least, i think that's the numeric code) page. can you upload it somewhere for anyone who wants it? or just send it to me and i'll do so. Brushfire
We hit 500th overall recently! Keep up the great work curing them diseases.
prophetik music
so, i run a very powerful dual-core box, windows x86. is the SMP client gonna fry my box, or is it stable enough to use in a normal windows environment (only running when i'm not using the computer)? Gollgagh
oh, I should get into this again since I now have an awesome computer my folding@home profile is still Archaeapyric btw
Volt
so, i run a very powerful dual-core box, windows x86. is the SMP client gonna fry my box, or is it stable enough to use in a normal windows environment (only running when i'm not using the computer)? It only uses up spare CPU cycles. I don't even notice it running. Besides my CPU meter being pegged. I'm GigaVolt on Folding@Home, BTW, but you don't even have to add me to the "official" list since my computer is so slow that my contributions are almost irrelevant.
