Ginnsu Posted May 26, 2002 Posted May 26, 2002 Streets of Rage 'The Last Dragon' I love very deep 303’s. This mix defiantly has a lot of that going on. As well as a whole bunch of awesome distortion, and some kick ass vocal samples to wrap it all up. I must say Mr. 44 this one is a treat, excellent work. Quote
bartkusa Posted June 9, 2002 Posted June 9, 2002 One of my favorite songs to kick ass to. This has a spot in the "get carter" soundtrack. Who's the master? Mr. 44! Quote
Son Goten Posted June 6, 2003 Posted June 6, 2003 Hey that voice sample is from that movie Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon. Cool! I loved that movie and so this remix ROX! Quote
LinearX Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 This song grabs you by the genitals and slams you onto the concrete. It could have used a little more variety even for a short piece but I still like it and had the nerve to bump it loudly in my car. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Mortal Kombat anyone? I could totally hear the low voice announcer start listing off the MK fighter's names through this. The transition between the solitary synth back to the full mix is all kinds of akward, but I gotta say this mix is pretty sweet; very driving, But maybe a bit too repetitive. I remember seeing that movie, and it is possibly the worst movie I have ever seen that I loved. Quote
DragonAvenger Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Seems a lot longer than 2:11 to me. A bit too repetative for my tastes, combined with not really enough going on. I can't say I'm crazy about it personally. Quote
42 Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 I am definitely sensing feelings of dire urgency and seriousness throughout this mix and not much else. The vocal samples at the end aren't really used to their fullest potential, and everything before that, well..., there isn't really anything noteworthy before the vocal samples. Ultimately, it's really too repetitive to be interesting. Quote
prophetik music Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 and the last 7-post review bites the dust. i loved the mix. a bit repetitive, but as a whole i thought it was great. one of those mixes i never got around to listening to, because i never played streets of rage. nice work. Quote
Master_Yoshi Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I really wanted to love this mix, but even for only being just over 2 mins long it felt like it was really dragging. I would have liked to see some more ideas introduced here, it just didn't catch me. Love the ending though. Nice touch! Quote
Bahamut Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 So one of the first things I noticed was the 2:11 length - as suspected from the length, there wasn't really much substance in this song. It was mostly the same loop playing over and over again with very minor variations, which for 2:11 doesn't cut it. Definitely not a fan . Quote
WesternZypher Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Is awesome in its own way. Or they're all awesome in the same way. They're either good music ramping up to beating down some street thugs, or winding down from said delivered beating whilst overlooking the city skyline-by-night. Preferably from a bridge or rooftop. This is squarely in the former category. Quote
Rexy Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 A 2001 mix, covering a very unmelodic source. I know it's Streets of Rage, but it makes it hard to evaluate in regards to arrangement standards. Admittedly there seems to be some good synth manipulation work with the amount of decay and variety of textures being brought into the track. It stays fairly well towards the source, but even then it only really used the accompaniment part as just the main beef for the track. The driving percussion actually feels really weak and muffled, and even then I felt really questioned about the ending with the voice samples in; seemed to feel out of place. In regards to setting, this one didn't quite age as gracefully as some of the other tracks I've seen around here. It can be fun if you like the game, but otherwise I can't really make a serious recommendation Quote
