CyberSkull
A new tool called 6 DEGREES OF MUSIC WITH VINCE GILL let's you look up how many degrees separate musical artists, based on MusicBrainz data. OverClocked ReMix has 4 degrees of separation from Vince Gill. timaeus222 and djpretzel

Mirby
That awkward moment when you're 4 degrees from Vince Gill despite only releasing like 4 songs total ever. Sagnewshreds

And I have a 3-degree connexion with him! It works with a lot of other artists as well, nice.

Anyone's who's done a Final Fantasy cover is going to have a connection. ;p Chernabogue

BTW, I also noticed a small-ish error when I tried to see my connection with Spanish composer Oscar Araujo, as it shows the Super Castlevania IV composers have arranged RoeTaKa's SCIV/LoS remix. Looking into it, I see that some of the works are arrangements of earlier works, so they have arrangement credits on the later versions of the songs. So you end up with Vampire Killer (ステージ10ドラキュラの塔1BGM) being an arrangement of Vampire Killer (城内潜入BGM) and having two arrangers as a result. I think that's what you are talking about…

CyberSkull
The connection from OCR to Drew Wheeler (@halc) to Արամ Խաչատրյան to Vince doesn't work either, as the symphony that links them would have been made when Drew was 4 or 5. Chernabogue
Anyway, it's a very interesting tool. It's quite cool to see what kind of links we share with composers and other artists ^^ (3 links to Helloween, yay! x)) CyberSkull

CyberSkull
So I put it to you guys: What is your degree of separation from Vince? From your favorite artist? Who here has the largest separation from Vince? The shortest?
CyberSkull
OCR's degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon is: Well, I'm not telling! :p

Gario
Three steps, woo. Anyone who's posted a Final Fantasy remix will get a minimum of three steps, as Nobuo Uematsu is two steps away CyberSkull
Nutritious
Had three steps as well, but after a few tries I managed to get one through Bionic Commando instead of FF. Interesting. CyberSkull
Rexy
Yep, I too hit 3 steps because of the Final Fantasy connection. XD I'm actually interested in looking for any artists that didn't cover any of Uematsu's scores and seeing any other major links that amateur arrangers could have. Try disabling all the relationship types except for "primary" and "support". You'll find a longer, more interesting chain if you do.
