Also, if you were worried about purchasing an Xbox360, then worry no more. Microsoft is extended the warranty to 3 years for the Red Ring of Death. Covers both repair and shipping costs, and anyone who has recently paid for repair costs will be reimbursed.

How does this bode for refurbished models? Same coverage or no?

I wish I knew the answer. People were asking about that, but I dunno if they got an answer. Honestly, I don't feel like going through 200 comments to find out heh.

Are 360s now being sold with that new heatsink? If so, how can you be sure that you're getting one with it? Different model number/upc? Or is there no way unless you buy one when a new shipment comes in.

I'm probably going to wait until after E3 to buy it just in case of a price drop.

The only way to tell is by actually opening up the box and getting the system out. Shine a flashlight into the bottom end, and if you can see the DVD drive reflection, then there's no heatsink.

To be honest, it's pretty safe to buy a 360 at this point. The disc-scratching and DVD drive issues seemed to affect units manufactured in the launch window almost exclusively and I believe that problem has been remedied for the most part. If you're worried about your system dying due to hardware failure, MS has you covered for 3 years for free. If your system will die, it will die within the first 36 months.

By the way, keep on eye on the marketplace this week as there will be demos of both Blue Dragon and Ace Combat 6 because of E3 (and probably more).

I'll be there in person, and while I won't be doing my usual yearly writeup for the OCR forum (since I have a lot of work I'll be doing for GamesAreFun), if you want me to check out a particular game at the show and give some impressions, I'd be more than happy to (and that goes for all systems).

Is anybody else watching the Xbox 360 Spotlight? It's G4, so you know there has to be a lot of commercials. It bugs me, there's 4 minutes of commercials every 10 minutes, and it always seems to be break time when they announce something. It's a commercial event, and yet, we need more commercials. Ick!

Well, hopefully they will announce something cool.

Yeah, I turned it on for the Halo bit, but then they put commercials in the middle of the gameplay trailer! That's how evil they are.

Yeah the g4 coverage was awful. They barely showed Mass Effect. and they cutoff the Halo3 trailer.

So no uber awesome 360 news out of E3 I take it?

The most 'shocking' news is the new Resident Evil 5 trailer for 360. They reminded me that the 360 had Devil May Cry 4 and a lot of games we all knew about a year ago.

Their press conference reminded me of the Sony conferences in the PS2 days. Always pointing how their games are selling the best, how they are in control of the current generation, lots of games, etc etc.
