  1. @Jorito thanks man. Im sorry if i came off as angry or vitriolic but my mind is not in a good place atm and im kinda releasing my pain in places it doesnt belong. I appreciate your candor and helping me be a part of this awesome project. Larry has my wav and comments so all should be well and good whenever the changes go live. Being ex-staff and director i understand the struggle and effort these projects take and im sorry if i personally offended or downgraded the effort you put in, my mind is very clouded at the moment. Thanks again for working with me and im glad i can still be a part of this album. ♡
  2. Would have been cool if the song I made for this like 7-8 years ago was actually on the album... yet instead one of the best sources in the game imo was omitted. :/
  3. Lol, oh? I didn't realize this project failed. And after all that pressure DusK was putting on me to get a wip together during the week of my wedding or to lose our claim. Aight then. ;D Well, our track has been pretty much finished for about a year and a half now. I think we do still need to get Sir J to record one bit of vox, but yeah, we're good to go here (will hook you up with a current copy if you need it). I'm down with sticking around for this project, I trust you'll take care of business, Gar. But if another year from now this thing still hasn't gone anywhere, we will be taking our track down another avenue. As a personal advice from a previous project director whose handled at least one stupidly long-term community project and many others, OCR and elsewise.. This whole 3-year 3-game project idea sounds great and all, but its been almost 2 years already since this project started. Please, just don't even think about SoR 2 or 3 until this one is looking some semblance of done. If this goes well, then by all means do a SoR2 project, we'd love to be a part of that as well. But we've all seen what happened with the FF5 project. I think my song for that is about 4 years old now. Hell, you might not even wanna do a SoR2 project after you finish this. Just put it out of your mind completely and focus on getting this first project done. Sorry if I sound like I'm going off the rails a bit here. I'm just sick of waiting on projects that can't get their shit together. And trust me, I know how it is to run a community project with so many moving pieces. It can be a bitch, getting people to finish tracks on a timeline, or even getting them to claim them in the first place. But if you're gonna try and create a project (let alone some crazy 3-part mega-project) involving so many people, you gotta take it seriously. You gotta treat it like a job, not just some thing you're doing for the hell of it. If you don't, everyone who put in hard work is gonna be pissed when you just give up. Be a boss, well, be a cool boss, we're all working for free here, but you gotta stay on your artists, and if they don't get shit done, fire them and find someone else. You don't need to be ridiculous with deadlines, but if a month has gone by and you haven't heard from ANYONE, then something needs to change. Again, I trust you'll take care of business. I don't think you would have taken over the project if you weren't serious about it. We chilled at MAG, I know you're a hella cool guy who's really invested in this community, and I really look forward to seeing this develop (for the second time). Please kick some ass.
  4. I typically just ignore stuff like this, but if you're gonna try and make some in-depth analysis of my music and creative choices with a list of vague, unhelpful comments thinly veiled as criticisms on a public review thread, then be prepared to elaborate because I'm going to defend myself. Why were they a bad choice? Because they weren't a piano? Obviously the original was a piano, but I didn't want to use a piano, I wanted my song to be different. That's what we do around here. Which ones? What was un-smooth about them? Obviously nothing is ever perfect - by that measure all song transitions ever written 'could have' been smoother. But since you made a whole bullet point out of it, I'd like to know what you particularly think is wrong with our transitions? I'm not gonna compare any of us to Hunnid P, that's not the point of this song. Each of us gave it our all on this song, so I guess we just don't stand up to your standard. I don't know what 'fx vocals' means. Are you talking about the robotic background vocals at certain parts? If so, okay, but I disagree. I think they give the song a ton of extra character. Well, we were not writing a song about gliding around pumpkin hill collecting emerald shards with a digging tool. We were not setting out to make a new background music for pumpkin hill. We really didn't even want to use any of Hunnid P's original lyrics in the first place, but since the original song had them, and the general perspective on vocals in VGM is so weird and fucked up, we figured people are gonna expect to hear them, so we kept them. It seems like you have this grand concept in mind of an updated version of Pumpkin Hill that has the exact same feel and vibe as before but 'enhanced' - that is not what we set out to do here. This song fits into OUR context as the ZR, and that's all that matters to us. And I have no idea what that last sentence means. I read that to mean that you thought our new verses were 'weak and meaningless' but I may be interpreting whatever you're trying to say incorrectly. Okay, so basically, you want us to lower the quality of our mix. I mean, the original Pumpkin Hill is great, but it's no secret that it's produced with cheap samples, rigidly sequenced and deceptively repetitive. The only thing in the original song that is of a modern quality is Hunnid P's vocals. I think we've done this song a favor and given it a whole new life. Again, I don't know what you want from us - it's OBVIOUS to me at this point that you have a vision for how this song should be remixed and we didn't give you that. But these comments are just thinly veiled insults really. Nothing on here is helpful at all on a musical level. It's just you telling us how you wanted us to make the song, which from what I can glean basically a carbon copy of the original with maybe updated piano sample and new vocals that do nothing but self-reference Knuckles-related things for 4 and a half minutes. The lyrics may have aired on the humorous side, but we took this song just as seriously as any other we've ever made. It may have been crafted on a whim, but we poured just as much passion and inspiration and detail and care and love that we do to all of our tracks. If you want a different execution, feel free to do it yourself.
