  1. I'd have edited and bumped my older mix thread but I guess I have to make another one. Anyways do I still actually have to explain myself anymore these days? https://soundcloud.com/hi-im-gt/global-trance-seeker http://www.global-trance.com/misc/ for all the babbyz that want the mp3 01 - Rapha - Deep Field (Original Mix) 02 - zircon featuring Jillian Aversa - Arms Open Wide 03 - Alexander Popov featuring Kyler England - My World (Original Mix) 04 - Solarstone featuring Bill McGruddy - Is There Anyone Out There (Smashing Atoms Instrumental Mix) 05 - Alex M.O.R.P.H. and Protoculture - Waking Up the Stars (Original Mix) 06 - Above & Beyond presents OceanLab - Secret (Andrew Bayer Remix) 07 - FFmusic DJ featuring Minyu - Suteki Da Ne [isn't It Beautiful] (Theme from Final Fantasy X) 08 - bLiNd featuring Stevo Bortz - Alone 09 - bLiNd - Cocoon (Club Mix) 10 - Galen Behr - Seconds Before We Landed With Our Eyes Closed (Original Mix) 11 - Chicane featuring Blandine - What Am I Doing Here? 2. Wake me up when Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate comes out.
  3. Just saw it today. Fantastic movie. Just enough video game references without going overboard. Street Fighter got a lot of cameo love though! A tiny bit too much Sugar Rush but it worked out just fine I think. I'm a bit iffy about Vanellope still being a glitch after she was able to fix herself after crossing the line, but I'll give it a pass as a nod to gamers loving glitches in general. Also big ups and shoutouts to the Pac-Man kill screen nod after the credits.
  4. Hey Soul Splint, have you considered tofu? That's also another good option for protein without a lot of fats/cholesterol. I have this almost irrational fear of dropping the bar on myself when I bench press but I managed to suck it up and push 175 lb last night at the end of my sets which I've never done before. As a short, 140 lb guy, I feel pretty good about this. 200 lbs and up here I come.
  5. I don't think I look THAT good. Like I said earlier, it's getting increasingly hard to stay fit with being swamped in grad school and I'm not anywhere near as strong as I was last year I feel. All of you guys doing the Fitocracy thing way before I had joined have been really inspiring. It totally helps to remind me to do a little more physical activity, even if it means that I have to make extra time for it. Yeah. You can get incredibly far with only body weight. Gymnasts are a prime example of that.
  6. I better work out the chest and arms a lot if I play with you guys. I'm bad at poker. D:
  7. I love pull-ups and this has happened to me a couple times IIRC. When you're getting to that stage where you're pulling up in the midst of muscle failure, it's very easy to get really tensed up and start engaging and often over-engaging the upper trapezius muscles. I've had neck pain similar to what you described and it was more than likely caused by what I described. I'd say just take it a little easier and mentally focus primarily on the muscles you're targeting. Be careful dude and don't overdo it!
  8. I'm not sure if you realize how much I have to sit on my ass for art school these days but I definitely appreciate the welcome and the push FOR FITNESS
  9. I signed up even though my time is extremely limited. I'll do what I can!
  10. Okay. Uh. The first time I played this, I didn't do much but grab the bugs. The second time though, I got a little more imaginative... and boy does this game spiral out of control. Guys if you haven't played this yet, I HIGHLY suggest doing so. It's insane. If you find yourself only grabbing bugs after 5-10 minutes, you're playing this wrong. That's my only hint.
  11. kz / Livetune and/or HachiojiP / 8#Prince only
  12. I just started Fitocracy a few days ago to help me be a bit more active. I'm sitting on my ass a lot more these days because of my work in grad school but looking at it helps me to push harder and fit more in the time when I go exercise a few times a week. Only friend I have on here is Brandon Strader. I guess I'll look you guys up.
  13. Happy Birthday Katie! I hope to see you at MAG!
  14. I swear I'm going to have to watch this movie frame-by-frame when the blu-ray / DVD comes out.
  15. Yeah that's totally him. Check out the front page of this thread. I got an image up labeling as many as I could ID.
  16. That ninja was in the bad guy meeting in the trailers so I assumed it was Smoke from Mortal Kombat. Kano was with him too. Whoever he is, he isn't a generic ninja.
  17. Noooooooooooooo how are we going to play FIGHTAN GAEMZ 4 REEL???? (Congrats and good luck with the little one)
  18. So as of now I'll be rooming with Ben Briggs, bLiNd, and Jade his wife so count us all on being there. It's essentially the DJ room, yo.
  19. Dig-Dug and Frogger! Who are the angel characters though? Sonic woooo Spotted some other ones too! Didn't img tag this one because it's too big. It's the rest of the Pac-Man ghosts, Paperboy, and Pong! http://www.global-trance.com/wir-chars.jpg
  20. The main reason that I ignore the crossfader entirely is merely to have more control over the frequencies of incoming and outcoming tracks without killing too much of the volume of either one. This style works for me very well because as you can tell from my sets I love buttersmooth transitions that can still make an impact. Let's take an example here in the Traveler set. Around 12:33, Live Forever is on its way out while Last Minute is coming in. The high frequency hi-hats and what have you from Last Minute were subtly introduced and the lows were all the way down from the start. At 12:52 as the vocal is finishing the line "I won't believe in you", this is the moment I drop all of the lows from Live Forever and raise the lows from Last Minute to normal level. It's like I did an abrupt crossfade but with just the lows between the two. I drop volume just a bit for Live Forever too. The transition is essentially flawless because 1.) This is the moment Live Forever's bassline drops most of its elements. 2.) This is also the moment Last Minute introduces the most significant part of its bassline. 3.) Live Forever is in D-Flat Major and Last Minute is B-Flat minor so they harmonize together and there shouldn't be any clashing with the timing. I leave the highs from Live Forever up so you can hear bits of the hi-hats and parts of the chopped up vocal samples that trail out all while slowly lowering the volume slider and time it so that I cut out Live Forever's volume almost entirely on the introduction of the guitar at 13:20. I just love a lot of overlap with percussion from both incoming and outgoing tracks and that's just something I can't quite nail with use of the crossfader. It just kills too much volume for how I play. If it totally works for your style then go for it... but at least pass your ideas by me so I can always critique and try to help you get more radbones at DJing. I hope that answers your question. Try listening to my transition from Last Minute to Pandora, the tribal-ish track right after with my explanation in mind. It should be pretty clear I essentially handled it the same way. Cheers.
  21. Finished NES Battletoads straight without warps. Finished original NES TMNT without losing a turtle. Finished Castlevania II Simon's Quest in one sitting on my first time playing (granted this was only a few years ago and I slightly knew about those weird spots). Finished Final Fantasy X No Sphere Grid Run. Same stats at the end as when you start. Finished all of Final Fantasy XII on Active Time Battle mode and fastest speed without setting up a single gambit.
  22. Hey Mr. Briggs I am a little too old fashioned for Ableton. It IS a really handy tool. I just haven't gotten used to it yet. I tried out that HiQ pitch preserving warping a couple times from your recommendation but I didn't like the subtle distortion I use slightly older tools with similar capabilities to emulate how I play with vinyl records. Mixing vinyl is still my prefered method but buying vinyl is becoming increasingly more of a hassle. And vinyl pressings warp easily. P.S. DJing with a crossfader on the mixer in harmonic mixing is dumb. I don't recommend it if you have been using it.
  23. Wow it's been like two years since I did something like this. I had this on Soundcloud and Facebook but I guess I didn't post it here. Might as well do it now. Sometimes I forget I started DJing and posting the mixes here originally since back when UnModerated was still around. That's a long time ago! http://soundcloud.com/hi-im-gt/global-trance-traveler-dj-set (Please add to the listen count!) You can also download it and the tracklist @ http://www.global-trance.com/misc/ As usual, I mix harmonically by playing and overlapping tracks that harmonize well to give nice smooth transitions. If you don't know a thing about DJ mixing in key, here's something for you. Some of the laptop DJs floatin around still got a thing or two to learn. This mix mostly has a melodic beachy vibe with this and that. Next set should be more raw stuff like electro house but I will see if I can make time for it during grad school. We'll see. Whatever I put together, I'll end up always share it here too. Have fun. Share. Whatever you wanna do. Cheers. Traveler 01 - Aly and Fila vs JWAYDAN - Coming Home (Eximinds Remix) 02 - Steve Brian and Rene Ablaze - In This Whole World (Original Mix) 03 - Lange featuring Emma Hewitt - Live Forever (Steve Brian Remix) 04 - Ron Hagen and Al Exander - Last Minute (Original Mix) 05 - Ali Wilson - Pandora (Original Mix) 06 - Audien - Selective Hearing (Willem de Roo Remix) 07 - Nhato - Far East Garden (Original Mix) 08 - Hiroyuki Oda - Day Break (Nhato Remix) 09 - Aly and Fila vs Roger Shah featuring Adrina Thorpe - Perfect Love (Original Mix) 10 - Skytech - Rocket Science (Original Mix) 11 - Mike Shiver vs Matias Lehtola - Slacker (Original Mix) 12 - SHato and Paul Rockseek - Wonderfooled (Radion 6 Remix)
  24. IDM, I feel is like... really experimental post-techno stuff. Maybe some breakbeat? I don't listen to IDM much but it has some interesting ideas for sure. As for Parov Stelar, he's not your average EDM artist. His work is a nice solid blend of swing, jazz, and house.
