  2. hello world 🤖 in these uncertain times, i think we need a little levity to get us through our day to day. we're all seriously serious about studying our craft within the context of VGM music; why not get a little silly with it? that's right baby, we're doing an unofficial OCR album for April Fools Day!! Questions: Q: Why "FishMas?" Certain Francophone cultures, as well as Italy, Belgium and The Netherlands call April Fool's Day "April Fish." It's less of a mouthful than "An OverClocked April Fools Day." Q: What can I FishMix? A: Unlike our other seasonal contemporaries (AOCC, AOCH) you are only limited to VGM music for this album. as much as I would love to hear some more Gangnam Style electric kazoo 9-bit remixes, I gotta draw the line somewhere to keep it somewhat within the OCR umbrella. FishMixes of other ReMixes are very welcome! Please submit your covers of a cover of a cover of a cover of "Hotel Dusk!" Q: What can/can't I put in my FishMix? Cooking up a FishMix, however silly, still requires some care. - Please keep FishMixes between thirty seconds and ten minutes. Multiple entries are allowed but are limited to 4 per arranger. You're welcome to collab on as many as you like, though! - No hate speech/slurs targeted at particular groups or other individuals. It's poor form to punch down in comedy. - There's nothing funnier than 34518s, paulstretched PINGAS or some sensual liccing, but please no explicit depictions of sexual content or heavy violence. (Gunshots as percussion or an occasional sexy moan is fine and will certainly get a chuckle out of me.) Other than that, anything goes! Keep in mind that this is an Unofficial OCR album. You are not beholden to their (impossibly high) standards, but if you're interested in submitting your FishMix to OCR please consult with their Submission Standards and Instructions page. Q: Can I submit previously written material? Absolutely, as long as it hasn't appeared on a previous FishMas album in its current state! We welcome all DoD Alts, Oops All Shitposts entries, PRC/MnP/etc. compo entries, and auditory shitposts you torture your loved ones with as long as you're the one who wrote it. Q: Can I submit entries made with GenAI song generators like Suno? No, but you're welcome to make your own AI-pril 1st album somewhere else. Q: What format should my submission be in? WAV, 16 or 24bit, 44.1kHz or 48kHz, peak -6dB pre-master. Please no limiters on the master bus to achieve this. Any deviation from this may result in your track not sounding how you'd like on release. Q: How do I submit? you can send your WAV file (or a link to the file) via email to a1@coloradoweeks.io or to @coloradoweeks through Discord. Please include info in the email body about your title, your artist name, and any other collaborators. Please keep your file names descriptive, it makes wrangling all of this much easier. Q: What's the Deadline? Deadline is March 22nd, 2026 at 11:59 EST. Q: I want to participate, but nothing's biting. Can I get some inspiration? Sure you can! 3. I wish I didn't have to concur, but I do. This is a dynamite arrangement and superduper fun idea. But the samples are not even close to good enough or working here, the fast runs on strings and brass in particular sound so unnatural. I love the idea of mixing the orchestral with electro, but the electro samples are sounding super dated as proph mentioned. The drum kit sounds not only dated but weak and unfitting as well. I also hear zero sidechaining... that's not a dealbreaker, but sidechaining at least the bass and a few low-mid and electro elements would add so much groove to the piece and also let the kick be heard. I'm not sold on the glitching, as with the samples I love the idea but not the execution. To me, this glitching sounds more like rendering errors than something purposeful. I don't know what technique you used for it, or what plugin, but this one just doesn't work for me. Each time it kicks in I think something is wrong with the render or my Cubase. So yeah, I concur with proph and Wake, awesome concept and very strong arrangement and good instrument choices, but all of it just sounds way too weak and dated sample-wise for prime time in 2025. NO

  5. Yo, Master Mi, these remixes are 🔥! Mystwalker's take on the Battle themes really brings a fresh energy to the classics. The Triumph Remix, in particular, is a standout those electric guitar riffs after 1:33 hit hard. I appreciate you sharing these gems. It's always exciting to discover new interpretations of retro tracks. Looking forward to more from Mystwalker and the community!
  6. It feels extremely odd to me to be judging a Gario track but here we go! We begin very similar to the source with some orchestral samples that definitely show their age, remind me of the sound of the Final Fantasy Tactics or zircon's games. At 0:38 we get some glitches and I thought my PC was malfunctioning for a bit but it all made sense a few seconds later! What a fun way to do that transition from orchestra music to, basically, the genre named Gario. Now we have the orchestral instruments playing on top of a fun electronic/chippy backing. I feel the melodies have a bit of a hard time standing out sadly, mainly since the orchestral samples are a tad wet. At 1:31 a synth lead takes the lead and the music takes more shape immediately. Being nitpicky, the lead sample is a bit static, I'd love to hear some vibratto or something of the sort. I do love how the strings on the background are treated here, with the glitch effects and such, it sounds great. Somewhat abrupt transition to chiptune at 1:55 but at 2:00 we're back on the orchestra/Gario mix, here the brass sounds more clear. At 2:25 there's a quick break and we then continue on a slightly more chill vibe before a full orchestral break at 2:49. I like the upbeat timpani rhytm and the soft electronic elements present on this section. At 3:38 we transition back into the orchestra/Gario soundscape, fun transition and this whole section sounds great. There's a string ensemble "solo" at 4:13, interesting idea. After that there's a couple more upbeat sections with trumpet as lead and we close with a quick chiptune to orchestra moment. Arrangement is a ton of fun! I love the idea behind the soundscape, although you claim the synth+orchestra concept isn't as novel as it was back then it's definitely not something I hear frequently in the cover space and much less in your particular brand of sound. Structure of the arrangement is great, with a large amount of variations and breaks to keep it interesting. I'm fairly sure the arrangement could be trimmed down to be shorter but there's no section that jumps at me like something to be cut completely. Source usage is evident and present in basically the entire track, every melody is directly from the source. No doubts about eligibility. Production is where I'm torn. On one hand, the classic Gario electronic elements sound great, percussion is punchy and the trademark glitchy chiptunes and synths sound excellent, although I found the chiptune solos sounded a little dull. The main issue is, as you'd expect, the orchestral samples. They're definitely quite retro sounding, my main issue with them is they lack definition, sounding very airy and wet, which is a big contrast with the electronic sounds. In sections like the combination at 1:01 you can feel the struggle of the brass trying to stand out on top of the other instruments, and it becomes worse with other samples like the flute that comes later. Overall, I'm feeling very torn here. Despite the retro sound of the ensemble I like how it sounds (since it gives me PS1/PS2 vibes) but I understand if any judge rejects just on that. My main issue, however, is that the lack of definition on the samples makes the orchestral samples hard to hear on top of the electronic ones. I'm not 100% on my vote because there's definitely a lot to love here but I feel this would benefit a ton from layering some samples with more clarity on top of the current stuff or simply replacing the orchestral samples with more modern ones. 8. Think we've got the front and back cover art / font for the album sorted now! <3 @ArikXu_Hugo How's your track coming along? :D
  9. Also, the website is being worked on! HOORAY! \o/ Thank you again @colorado weeks, @tibonev & @gravitygauntlet for your hard work on it! :D Also, the roster of people participating has grown! I will be updating the front-post very soon to reflect that and those who've turned theirs in already! 🧡🦇
  10. Apologies, that's due to a lot of the conversation going on on the Discord server, as it's easier for people to get in touch with me on there and relay any workshop notes or submissions that way. :) I've noticed your two PMs to me on here, and apologize I haven't been in the forums lately. I had been severely busy with doing my own tracks and keeping up with the Discord server, as well as I had just done my first submission to Dwelling of the Duels, and trying to speed-run that process had eaten up a good amount of free time for me over the past two weeks! ^_^; I will get in touch with you @The Coop, today! If you have a Discord by chance, even if it's just an account on there, please let me know so we can maybe keep up the convo a lil' better over there (like, DMing each other). My DMs are always open! Also, yes! It's the 2nd of October! *(It's my bday! LOL!)* ANNNNNDDDD we've got 17 days left before the DEADLINE!? 🎃 How are people hanging in there! Several people have turned in stuff already!!! :0 Let me know how it's going on here, or going in the Discord server! ♥
  11. boy, do i feel this. some of the stuff i did in high school is far more creative than anything i have done recently. samples in the opening definitely are not as good as most of what we interact with nowadays. i'd argue they're not even as good as what we heard in Chrono Symphonic, and that was almost two decades ago. so that's a concern. there's some heavy panning used as well which is very noticeable on headphones. arrangement of the opening section is cinematic and approachable. i got a little confused with what was going on around 0:38 with the rippling, before i realized what was going on. interesting transition concept! the beat and where it settles is pretty dull-sounding - there isn't much body in the upper ranges like i'd expect to hear - and the strings especially sound so oofy that it's hard to tell what pitches they're playing most of this section. the lead that comes in after this is much more forward and easier to understand. there's a chippy break at 1:55 before we get the spurs again, and the approach for this section is similar to the first. the soaring string line at 2:38 is really nice - this is imo what these strings would be best for, not the active movement that was used earlier where it was tough to hear the pitches. by the 3:00 mark we're back to more traditional orchestra (trad-orch?) for the scoring, and the pitched snare is immediately recognizable from Reason. i like the transition back to more synth elements that comes in over the next minute. 3:49 is a recap of the earlier melodic material with the brass leading the way - the trumpet sample really works well with the gating effects you're using here. there's a fake ending before one last blow, one last bit of chips, and then it's done after a final hit. this is a neat idea, and i definitely see what you're going for around the concept of using electronic techniques with classical framing. and i think there's a lot to like about this track. however - both the orchestral instruments and the beat (kick/snare) sound extremely dated. i'd go so far as to say that we could never pass a track with such extended sections of orchestral instrumentation that's so far below 'free sample' range of what's available today. there are some times it works - like the soaring brass and string lines in the electronic sections, which don't rely on clear attacks - but the rest of the time it's so rough it's hard to hear what it's trying to play. additionally, the kick lacks body and tone and the electronic snare used is just static - there's no verve to the samples used nor the mixing of it. this is probably a lesser concern to me than the quality of the orchestral samples. along those lines, the mix itself (once it gets into the electro sections) has a lot of sub-20hz content that's making it hard to make out the bass instruments most of the time. i recognize that the orchestral instruments aren't dealbreakers across the board, and i also recognize that there's a lot of places that they're not an issue. but i don't see a way for the big blocks from 0:00-0:40, 0:56-1:25 and 2:50-3:20 to be passable given the expectations around classical instrument usage. i love the concept! so this is a bummer. but i think it'd need some real reinforcement before it'd get posted in 2025 as opposed to 2007. 12. Just found this when running into trouble with iTunes importing my music after switching to iPhone. Very helpful. Thank you for posting this. Had to jump through some hoops from Audacity's website just to get an older version; used version 2.0.6. 32-bit installer to keep up-to-date version (64 bit) intact.
  13. Here are some of the jazzy remixes that I like starting off my October to ease me into spooky season. Whether they're from a spooky game, like Castlevania, or just because they sound like they could be heard on the streets of Halloween Town.
  14. Sometimes I am just listening to the tracks in order and even if I like it or even download it sometimes I skip by commenting. Well this one has so many positive vibes to it just had to say it rocks. Then again I am a sucker for various 80s electronic/rock aforementioned. \o/
  15. I love the story of persistence, and I also love his homage to the earlier remixes, I feel it for sure, and its a welcome feeling indeed! And to be fair, when you factor in the tools available for those earlier submissions, the bar is a bit higher these days I imagine, haah! And that shows in this track, modern tools and talent, with an "early 2000s ocr" feel.... Yeah I'm nodding my head to the beat.
  16. Other than the glitching sound effects, I could easily see this slotting into the OG Pure Moods album as far as the feel and theme(dating myself I suppose yet again). Imagination invoking, refreshing, and relaxing all at once.
  17. My old stash of dusty definitely legal, definitely medical stuff buried in the closet somewhere is feeling like a great idea after listening to this track. The tempo change, crazy effects, and wild instrument selection make me want to sit on the porch and enjoy life in a slow way, preferably with a few likeminded folks. Those silent sessions where you are just sitting around listening to tunes and zone out, I am feeling it! Thanks for this one.
  18. Sonic 1 was the first console gaming system I owned I think in 1991? At the age of 4 was just locked in playing this game dying over and over...Anyway I spent a lot of time in the Marble Zone. I have mixed feelings about this zone. The music was moody, and the levels were designed to trip you up, didn't really let you "go fast"...That's ok. I still have fond memories as I got older and whooped that games ass. Anyway, I love the sampling, I love the beat, I love the vibe. I definitely see those ridiculous caterwatevers grooving along to this as they wait for me to walk into them and lose my precious rings.... Thanks for this interpretation, quite a strange jam haha.
  19. Love the Title, I mean, thats the most important of a remix right?? Ahem. There's a lot of fun going on here and I am all for it. Maintains the groovy edginess of the original, but the heavier metal riffs and more spaced out keyboard/synth parts definitely inspires a slightly different mood. Overall I really enjoy this remix and pays proper homage to the OG soundtrack! 🤙
  20. Hello wonderful people! I have been a lonely north american on again (more often) off again player of this fantastic Korean beat-em-up mmo for close to *looks at date* 20 years.. Well anyway, Dungeon Fighter Online has fantastic music, and one that was always pleasant was the shop theme (where you go to waste your money or free credits!). I would find myself just randomly sitting in the shop to listen to the theme and no other reason. I don't know if it inspires remixing, but if nothing else, I've spread awareness....of a old shop theme, hah! I do not have a specific genre request. Link to music:
  21. Ooo baby I love the bass choice here, the Doom melody is unmistakable, and I feel like this would easily slot into a (early 90s)NIN song, or back into the original game without missing a beat. Lovely.
  22. Oh man that kind of spacey 70s rock/synth instrumental is fantastic. More of this!
  23. Wonderful song, I'd just like to say that is a beautiful voice complimenting the music. Three cheers! edit: Her voice reminds me of Evanescence. I hope that is a compliment. =)
  24. Thanks Zack! Glad to have you on board!
  25. I'll master it. And claim a track. Need to find one first.
  26. Announcing a Moon/Space ReMix Album! The moon landings of the Apollo Program in the 1960s and 70s thrust space flight into the public imagination in a way never before seen, inspiring tv shows, movies, games, toys, books, AND a nascent video game industry. The silicon chips invented for the program would go on to power the first home computers, and the apollo command module's fly-by-wire 'picklestick' control, would evolve into the near-ubiquitous arcade joystick just a few years later. Early game developers were inspired by the imagery and challenges of the space program, introducing games like "Lunar Lander" and "Asteroids". Over 50 years later, that inspiration continues, from Ducktales to Destiny, and Mass effect to Mario. So, as NASA prepares to return astronauts to lunar orbit with Artemis II in early 2026, I wanted to take this time to launch a VGM tribute to the moon missions, manned spaceflight and their continuing impact on video games. The Album This will be a small, quick turn album, which we will try to get released on OCR to coincide with the launch of Artemis II **The Theme/Tracks** No specific tracks are planned. ReMixers are free to choose any source they want provided it fits any one of the following three categories: 1. The source is from a moon level/area i.e. Ducktales-The Moon 2. The source is specific to space travel 3. The source references the moon i.e. Golden Sun TLA -Full Moon in Garoh or Majora's Mask-Final Hours Let's try to steer clear of any vgm that's specifically "alien" or alien planet areas. If you have an idea you think fits the album but maybe not the categories above, run it by me and I'll do my best to be accommodating! Claiming Tracks Claims are first come, first serve. Each claim needs to be unique (no duplicate tracks). We're aiming for a single disk album -say 12-15 tracks to keep the schedule manageable. If we have more interested participants than that we'll see what can be done Please DM me with claims, post them below, or joins us on discord ! Collaborations are highly encouraged! Schedule/Deadlines Artemis II is currently scheduled to launch sometime between February and April of 2026. That means if we want to be sure we make that date we probably need everything finished in early January..... On the downside...that's a very quick turn On the upside....so was Apollo! Current Claims Mastering - Zack Parrish 1. Halo Reach - "Broken Bonds" - Gravity Gauntlet 2. Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door - "X-naut Fortress" - Lucas Guimaraes 3. Sailor Moon: Another Story "Moon Kingdom Ruined" - Colorado Weeks 4. Star Ocean: Til The End of Time "Reflected Moon" - TSori 5. Final Fantasy IV - "Another Moon" - Ian Martyn 6.Final Fantasy XIV - "One Small Step" - Voudou Queen What We Still Need: Remixers Performers Artwork Codirector? If you are interested in making a claim, or helping out in any of the capacities above feel free to post or DM me! *note, due to the short timeline, it is preferred that remixers have a demonstrated history of meeting deadlines and that mastering be taken by someone who has done it for a previous OCR project. with that said, We are GO for Launch! (all puns intended)
