Sony PlayStation 4
Brandon Strader reacted to DarkeSword for a topic
Go to your Sony account at https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/ and disconnect all your devices from your account in the devices section. Then change your password. Then reactivate your PS4 on your account again. Also, please refrain from tossing around political jabs. This isn't PPR.1 point -
Hey Nom, There are some other ways to humanize MIDI. If multiple instruments have the same rhythm, you can offset one of the instruments by a very small amount to cause a small amount of tearing. If you don't want to record MIDI notes by performance, then you can also change the dynamics and hit each and every note. Furthermore, even if you can't record every single instrument then you could record one or two instruments to mix into your piece. I can play clarinet so realism is increased when I record and integrate some real clarinet into a piece. Another idea is to use multiple voices for the same instrument (such as two different flute sounds mixed together). I'm still learning a lot too but hopefully some of what I said will help.1 point

Gonna have something submitted for sure. Just gotta touch it up a little bit. The midi does have a lot of the vocal notes, but for some reason it's just the piano for the first half with the vocals and the rest of the instrumentation coming in later. On another note this game looks AWESOME, and the first one is in the Playstation store with a spinoff(from PlatinumGames, no less!) supposedly coming this year. Between that and Horizon Zero Dawn I might just have to spring for a PS4 this year, budget allowing.1 point

Undertale - Spear of Justice (orchestral remix)
Nom reacted to smartpoetic for a topic
No problem Nom! As far as the drums go, I think it's the type of drum you are using at some points. Timpanis are a bit lower, and they ring a lot longer than a snare. I'd recommend only using timpanis for hits, and snare for more moving parts. But as I mentioned, I'm not the best at percussion writing, but I'm sure there are heck of a lot of people in this community who can give more sound advice on that topic. I tend to keep my percussion writing very basic. It may also help to look up tutorials on writing for percussion. I'm not familiar with Cubase (I use Logic Pro), but from what I can tell you with Logic Pro, you can change velocities, as well as modulation. You may be able to change modulation in Cubase if you have a MIDI controller with a mod wheel on it. (Some MIDI controllers and keyboards have two wheels, one for changing modulation/velocity, and the other for pitch bending.) You may need to invest in a cheap to mid priced MIDI controller to get more dynamic control. As far as humanization goes, this will help out a lot. I also recommend playing your parts by hand on the MIDI controller/keyboard, since that will naturally add humanization (because a real human played it instead of a MIDI). As far as orchestrating in general goes, this is a topic that is very expansive. In fact, I took a class in college on orchestration when I was working on my music degree. But I don't think you'll have to go as far as taking classes in it, but it may be helpful to 1) read/watch tutorials on orchestration by other composers 2) listen to music by composers to study how they orchestrate things 3) practice, practice, practice! Just like a good cook, an orchestrator will know how to "pair" instruments together, and where to put them in the score.1 point -
cant quite get past the fact that the midi has no vocal notes otherwise an excellent source!1 point

New Registration and Sign-in Options
Purple Perpetrator reacted to DarkeSword for a topic
In the interest of making the forums easier to sign up for and more accessible to everyone, we've made some changes to registration. In the past, we've had it so that new accounts had to be manually vetted and activated; this was to avoid spam accounts and the like. This worked, but a side-effect was that new members couldn't engage in the community immediately and would become discouraged from participating. To move forward, we've done the following things: Updated our manual registration form to use the latest reCAPTCHA. This is to help fight spam accounts. Removed administrator approval from the registration process. New members will be able to post immediately following email verification. Enabled new members to register using their social media accounts. New members can now use Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ to register. If you're already registered for the forums, you can link your existing forum account to any/all of your social media accounts by going to your Account Settings and clicking the relevant links. Once you do so, you'll be able to use your social media account to sign-in, as opposed to a traditional username/password sign-in. If you have any friends who are interested in OC ReMix but haven't joined the forums, get 'em over here and get 'em involved! Between album projects, competitions, and gaming discussions, there's a lot to do here. If you run into any registration or account linking issues, please let us know right here in this thread. Thanks!1 point -
Hopefully I'll have some time to do something, this is just too good of a song to miss.1 point

MnP 52: NieR - Grandma
HoboKa reacted to David Kiraeth for a topic
So yeah.. I didn't take too much risks. The original song and this midi are so perfect that I didn't have the heart to make a proper remix ^^ So I took the midi, made a few changes, and added the voice part with some flute and a bass. The result here. I post it on thasauce too but it could maybe just be a bonus as I made too few changes. Your call on this! I hope there will be some great remix too, this track really deserves it1 point -

I hope we get some cool WIPs for April 15th The roster is SO BIG, and it's so many people to keep track of, I simply hope we get a lot, though I know not to expect even 1/4 of the remixers to turn in a WIP. Please ReMix responsibly!1 point -
Muddy sounds are caused when too many instruments are taking up the same frequency. Think of it like you have an empty cup, but you're overflowing it with too much liquids. Panning the instruments are like having 2 empty cups and splitting the liquid between them, but again the cups can only hold so much. Attenuating the frequencies on instruments that don't need them as prominent as the instruments that do will help clean the overall sounds of your projects. In some cases a low shelf filter is good enough, in other a high pass filter does a better job.1 point
