  1. Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes) (crap) MIDI: https://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/MnP107_funkotronic_beat.mid TheVideogamer's MIDI: https://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/MnP107_Toejam_and_Earl_-_Funkatronic_Beat.mid -Its at 224BPM or something weird. At the very least, the beat should be easy enough to work with. If someone can find a better MIDI, please feel free to share. Deadline: Nov 29th Fri @ 1 PM Vote Ends: Dec 2nd Mon @ 11PM MnP ARCHIVE - made by Trism submit: https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/MnP107 MISSION STATEMENT The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required. MnP Instructions/Guidelines Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted. Most or all of the source notes must be present (but not necessarily in the exact same order), secondly the mood (energy, pacing, feelings being conveyed etc) should also be retained. For example, a source tune that is fast-paced and energetic that's remixed into a mellow/chill-out theme would be a hard sell. If you decide to do a genre swap (i.e. symphonic to techno), make sure that the conditions of #2 are met. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max). Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry. Please don't make any comments about people's entries - including your own - until the Voting process is concluded. BONUS entries are exempt of this rule. Same rules for PRC voting Stage: don't vote for yourself, be considerate and try to give reasonable feedback as to why you liked X or Y entry. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and Conduct MISC/TIPS - When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier. - In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)

  2. Hi there! I released my original composition "Battle 1" on YouTube! Features orchestral instruments like strings, brass, choirs, big drums, woodwinds... When I composed it, I had this battle atmosphere in mind, but it also could be a very fast paced adventure scene :). You can listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0PPXemYoXU Feedback is much appreciated. For example, how do you feel the mix balance in overall?

  3. Thanks man. Yeah, I figured I'd do something funky and something (well quasi) unfamiliar to me, but very fun looking. I kinda want to play that game.

  8. Results HoboKa got 1st with 9 points. Seth Skoda got 2nd with 8 points. Bundeslang got 3rd with 7 points. I PM'd myself for the next entry/round. Don't ask how that works. Comments Well, I didn't expect to win. Thanks for participating guys, and for voting for me - I'll set up next round with my own pick in a bit. Forgot to comment on TVG's bonus. Nice spoopy take on the tune, TVG. I especially like that theremin sample. Nice mixups too.

  10. Hey @Seth Skoda! I was gonna give you a listen on this and post some thoughts but the link you have there goes to a track called "Nightcore RS" rather than "Gangsta With A Mustache". Could it maybe be the wrong song ID in the URL?

  11. https://thegamebrass.bandcamp.com/album/brasslevania-a-tribute-to-the-video-game-macabre Hello! I'm JohnStacy. You may know me from such places as this website and discord. You may also know me as a session brass player who plays for various video game soundtracks and soundtrack arrange albums. Today I come to you with an album from a group I'm involved in, that will release next week and is available for preorder right now. This album is Brasslevania, a fully licensed arrangement album. This includes music from several Castlevania games, Luigi's Mansion, Deltarune, and others. The description of the album does it justice, so I'll just paste that here: The Game Brass have teamed up again with arranger Thomas Kresge to bring you "Brasslevania: A Tribute to the Video Game Macabre"! Featuring some of the finest ghost, horror, and skeleton-themed music in video games, Brasslevania includes over 20 tracks from such classics as Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario World, Final Fantasy, Pokémon, Deltarune, Castlevania, Grim Fandango, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Celeste, and more. For this album, the quintet has expanded to a 9-piece brass ensemble and invited an array of special guests, including Mariachi Entertainment System, to the party. Equal parts spine-chilling, terrifying, and cadaverous, Brasslevania brings you the biggest Game Brass sound you've heard yet! I played french horn on this album, and am featured on a few tracks (mainly Voyager, Life is Beautiful, and The Grim Fandango Suite). The other guys who played are all my friends and we had a blast putting this together. On behalf of the Game Brass, I hope you enjoy Brasslevania: A Tribute to the Video Game Macabre!

    Halloween-Themed VGM Album

Oh my God, Mariachi Entertainment System covering Grim Fandango? It's like someone plugged directly into my brain. The rest of the album is awesome as well of course, but man that just made my day.
