  1. The People's Remix Competition 413 PRCv17-11 Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Dex got the win in PRC411 and decided to use the Ocremix Request Forum to pick a source. Source: Sky Shark (NES) - Title MIDI File Source Information ThaSauce link: Click here to submit The deadline is Friday September 4th 2020 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread. Two extra days. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of this round may select the source for PRC415, the rounds after next round. The winner of PRC411, Dex, who picked this source, can only participate by submitting a Bonus Mix. His vote is doubled in the voting stage. You can find the full rules list at this page as well. GOOD LUCK! PRC Home Page

  6. I mean really, it comes down to, don't modify the source too much, where it sounds completely separate from it's intention. Or something like that. I suppose for now it works fine.

  7. DDRKirby(ISQ) here with my latest original release, All in a Day's Work 5! One Hour Compo (better known simply as "OHC") is a weekly composition competition event hosted at http://compo.thasauce.net. The premise is simple: at a certain time each week, a theme is announced, and entrants are given exactly one hour to produce a song from scratch based on that theme. "All in a Day's Work 5" is the fifth installment in the "All in a Day's Work" series. The concept is the same as always: I've taken 24 songs that I've written for OHC and compiled them into a single album, literally the product of 24 hours of work. All 24 tracks are presented exactly as they were submitted for OHC without any post-editing. The album download includes a PDF full of detailed liner notes that you can check out for more info on each of the tracks! Download now from Bandcamp (pay what you want): https://ddrkirbyisq.bandcamp.com/album/all-in-a-days-work-5 Physical release also available!

  8. In the opening, the melody was getting lost in the overall sound until :33, but we'll see what happens later on. I'm about 1:50 in, and I'm never hearing that turn where the melody cuts through more; I don't think it's just a personal taste thing, I believe the lead/melody should be more upfront to help anchor and direct the track, and that's really my only issue with it, along the lines of what MindWanderer's mentioned. Right now, the arrangement remains strong and creative, but the mixing of the parts leaves this arrangement feeling relatively directionless and ends up undermining the intended dynamics of the piece. No hate, but I thought I'd be swooping in for a quick close-out of this one, but I'm not there yet. Still very promising and we'll see how the rest of the vote goes. Definitely don't be discouraged if this doesn't make it yet, Li-Wen; the writing doesn't need to change, but the mixing could use another pass. NO (resubmit)
