My plans for adventure in the Gamestop line at Midnight have stopped short just like my overly circumcized penis. I guess it was released last night. I feel like such a n00b.

Yeah, this was weird. My dad's computer has been having trouble since the Superbowl. It starts up ok but then it just slows WAY THE FUCK DOWN. We virus scanned it, malware scanned it, removed junk and even fixed the fan inside of it and nothing worked. Finally, the other night, me and my brother figured out what the problem was. Evidently OpenGL sucks up 60% of his RAM (I was shocked to learn he only had about 512MB of RAM in his computer, I thought he had more than that.) that's whats been driving his computer way down. What we can't figure out is how he got OpenGL on his computer in the first place. He's a sound-tech guy, not a computer guy, and he doesn't use his computer for that much. Our brothers claim they didn't put it on there (which I don't fully believe, but anyway) so how did it get on there? How can it suck up so much RAM that it leaves the computer struggling to even close a window? I didn't know having such a dearth of RAM could slow a computer down that much.

Mainly though, I'm trying to get back at a man named Jubias and I know he'll be there. He stole my tiddlywinks when I was four years old, and now I'm going to cram a pineapple in him until he screams "Brassafrax!" No, I'm just going to go see some friends there.

Is the GDC private or is it one of those things thats public with a fee?

I ran into similar problems last month. For the Orchestra, you're supposed to install both Gold AND Silver and keep the dongle in the computer at all times during production. You might have the samples seperated from the instruments (the samples are what are loaded as instruments). You can only use different micing positions in Platinum edition, which neither of us have. I've not delved that deeply into Storm Drum, but I can easily assume the samples are SUPPOSED to be right or left only, as many of Orchestra's are the same way (to simulate the realism of using a real orchestra I guess).

I'm thinking about going down the hill to the Gamestop to watch the Midnight thing in progress. I like being the one guy who's there to look at A/V cables while everyone else is buying FFXIII. The looks on the employees faces make it worth the trip.

I'm hoping you're not getting your hopes up for a big, nationwide release or anything amateur like that, because, believe it or not, that could make a serious impact on what you get recommended with. Having said that, if your goals are realistic and you have enough money and patience to push through, I'd recommend combing through deviantart.com. I can almost guarantee you you'll find a worthy artist willing to work with you (if you devote enough time to searching). That's a huge breeding ground for artists, both untalented and quite talented, who are trying to get somewhere on something too. Give it a shot and good luck.

I think you understand my point though. He says High Quality, I'm guessing he means what's being used in mainstream games today. I'd be surprised if even a $5,000 laptop could be capable of that. Of course what you use is secondary to how to use it, but up to a point. My last computer definitely would not be able to handle the work I've been asked to do here and elsewhere. I've been on that road where power and resources literally makes or breaks a track too many times to not recommend getting a powerful enough machine to start with.

White and Black. You need to make time for it if you want it. I can personally attest that a laptop is not going to do you much good for making high quality tracks. Your best bet for high quality game music is a high quality desktop and making time to learn how to use it. If you intend to make it a long-term concept, you're going to have to go desktop anyway, you might as well start out on it.

Fair enough. For an album produced entirely on a cell phone, I doubt I could hear anything better than this. Good job!

Winamp won't let me hear the album and I can only listen to one track. That track is ok (I don't believe for a moment you produced it on your cell phone ), but it's hard to judge the entire EP on that one, half decent track. Unless you'd like me to.

Why do you need to look elsewhere?

I don't know why you thought you would get more responses here than in Community. You probably didn't get any responses right away because you haven't been here in a while and because parts of your album are hard to tell if they're glitching on purpose or not. That's not to say you don't have a respectable piece of work, but when you combine parts A (That few people probably remember you from years ago), B (that what you're offering isn't easily digestible in the first place), and C (that you only posted yesterday), its not to see why you..... Wait, you got three responses. C'mon man. Anyway, the album's ok. Not the best stuff I've heard, but I enjoyed parts of it and the mixing production is good. That's about all I can say on that.

You need to post an example of what you're hearing and thinking is a problem, otherwise its difficult for us to help you. Export one of your tracks, load it up on ocr.fireslash.net (I think thats the correct URL) and a link to it here. I'm not an orchestral genius or anything, but I do know thats a much better way for us to help you.

Don't forget, anything you purchase that is a charitable donation is something you can write off on your taxes. Few compilation CDs to benefit causes feature this much variated talent and creative output and every penny you spend goes directly to the American Cancer Society. When you add all that up, you just cannot lose with the purchase of a track or an album. Independently released records don't raise over $5,000 unless they were worth every red cent of the purchase. You get an incredible double-album and the American Cancer Society greatly benefits from YOU. I don't hold out as much hope for him. I never knew GrayLightning personally, but I was a fan earlier on in my fandom here in the year or two before I started to contribute to the forums. There's really only one way a popular and decent figure like him would suddenly become completely unreachable, and thats what I think happened.
