  1. This is the WIP: http://tindeck.com/listen/wtiu It started out as a remix for the SD3 project for "Left Handed Wolf" but I never got much further with it. I want to keep the string stabs but lose the horns and some of the more cinematic elements to it for an electronic and (slightly) spacey/ambient thing. So I'm basically looking for more stuff that sounds kinda like this if at all possible. I want to really develop this into something neat. Thank you for the suggestions so far!
  2. I actually have a pretty decent beat/groove going on for it already, it's what kind of music I can do on top of it that I'm having trouble with. Closest example I can find is this from one of my favorite CDs of all time: . Problem is, the mood of this piece is almost completely different than what I want while still having a lot of the instruments in there. I don't know, I was just looking for more examples of Fast Tribal music that wasn't like a gimmick track where it's there just so the composer can show off. Those are usually pretty minimalistic and I'm trying to do a full-figured track. Also, if this is coming off strange, it's because I accidentally took some Tylenol PM at work and I'm still not all together yet. Edit: Yeah, Psycho Wolf, thats kinda what I'm looking for. Nice find.
  3. I thought it might be enticing others to answer, as the last couple threads I was asking for help didn't get responses. But also, I AM using, I believe, samples of drums from Africa.
  4. For lack of a better term I can come up with. I have a track to finish up, I'm not used to the genre its in and I'm having trouble actually finding a lot of examples, either cinematically or in album music that sound like this, and what few examples I do find are usually pretty bare - just the beat itself and almost no accompaniment. I want to add a lot of atmospherics and electronic chords, SFX and melodies to it. I can post my WIP if anyone wants it, I just wanted this to be a recommended music topic like others here instead of a Workshop topic. Thank you!
  5. That didn't stop us from remixing the hell out of Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger.
  6. The level in GoldenEye for the N64 where you had to protect the girl from enemy fire as she's hacking the computer. ...in the middle of the fucking room with 2-3 stories of enemy fire coming at you and no safe spot whatsoever. I don't even remember if I ever beat that level or not.
  7. I'm wanting to experiment with the "Promoted Video" thing on Youtube, but before I put down any money on it I wanted to see if anyone here had tried to advertise their music/art through Youtube in that way and how many views it helped you get. I was thinking of starting with $30 and this here . Do you think that may be enough to start with?
  8. Well, just try it again. Mine went away as soon as I started up a different project.
  9. Before I also jump in with a series of PMs trying to sell myself in a manner overly desperate for a professional, experience dictates I ask how close to done you are with the project? I've worked on visual novels just like this one and, to date, neither one has ever produced fruit. I know its not incredibly reasonable to ask what guarantee musicians who work on this would have, but it also sucks to put days of work in for nothing. Anything we could count on?
  10. Good lord, you too? The same thing was just happening to me (and not on FL Studio 10). We're you trying to load Vengeance samples, by chance?
  11. Ok, well my move has FINALLY started, so hopefully within a week or so, I can be back in an official capacity to start kicking ass again for the project here.
  12. So, Stevo, you going to post in here anytime soon? You did kinda start this project for us.
  13. My vote put you in first. Just wanted to gloat that, but seriously, nice job man. Well worth the small time it takes to vote. Everyone should vote for this man.
  14. I think there's a not-small disconnection here. The KVR Forums and Post-and-pray models of forums like those are considerably different than The Indie Bible which, if I understand correctly, is a giant list of radio stations, record labels, music supervisors, websites, and other resources for submitting your music and getting it out there. KVR is likely on there. I'm just wondering if anyone's used it and found any success/failure at submitting to those places.
  15. What does KVR Audio offer in terms of music marketing? I don't use their forums very much, but all I really see there are desperate musicians posting tracks almost no one cares about and Ad space.
  16. My biggest hate? Trying to decide if this track I did would sound good to the listener or not.
  17. The vanity of hoping so is not lost here, I confess, though I must assume that, of the hundreds of remixers listed, surely someone else had before me. I know George Sanger (The Fat Man) published a book in 1997 and did a couple remixes for OCr, but he's been one of the most famous videogame composers and industrymen in the United States before that - does that count?
  18. For anyone who may be interested: an Amazon Kindle version is now available for $0.99. If you're bored and looking for something challenging and genuinely different to have on your Kindle, certainly you could do worse with $0.99 than that.
  19. I tend to get a shitload of overcompressing when I use more than one.
  20. Wouldn't using two compressors create overcompression?
  21. I thought you were going to teach us how to do it. Do you have any examples to post? We won't know what to do with it until we hear it.
  22. Oh yeah - I thought about doing that with mine too if it still doesn't get in here
