[Professionals!] Looking for artists for new game project
Meteo Xavier replied to Firgof's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
Did you have any soundtrack examples/ideas in mind for what you're looking for? That's a very wide variety of genres you're asking for and they don't all work for "Big, And Empty Spaces", especially if you're asking potentials to create pieces to be judged before hand (which to experienced freelancers means hours or days of work with an 80% or higher chance they won't be used at all.) Also, will you consider already made tracks? I'm interested in offering some already made stuff but I just finished a soundtrack now and I'm not looking to jump back in to create more tracks that likely won't be used. -
Why don't any OC ReMixes sound like this?
Meteo Xavier replied to Thin Crust's topic in General Discussion
Hey now. Nic Cage also did BRINGING OUT THE DEAD. -
Lo Fi 1920's record trumpet sample/soundfont
Meteo Xavier replied to XPRTNovice's topic in Music Composition & Production
Best bet would be to run a conventional sample through a record-static effect, a filter, and bend the pitch every so often. There's no a lot of call for stuff that sounds like the 1920s, so there isn't much out there I'm afraid. -
Mastering software (T-racks3 Standard vs Ozone 5)
Meteo Xavier replied to halc's topic in Music Composition & Production
Well, zircon uses T-racks 2 (not even 3) for all his mastering stuff last I heard, so... -
I take it back. THe last half of Episode 6 lived up to the hype. That was cool.

I'm halfway through Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. I'm not sure where I stand on it now - I was expecting something 10x more insane than FLCL, but so far its just been 10x more disgusting. Creative with some funny ideas, but not living up to the hype I wanted yet.

How real does this sound?
Meteo Xavier replied to lazygecko's topic in Music Composition & Production
Yeah, the chord progression there is all fucked up. -
Looking for a certain MIDI
Meteo Xavier replied to jordanrooben's topic in Music Composition & Production
Like I said, just ignore Snappleman. That is most certainly not a basic of music. Completely re-creating a music piece through an inferior channel on ear alone is pretty advanced and takes at least a year of practice (YMMV) to do, particularly as its largely been proven that people have a wide range of even potential to grab notes in the first place. No doubt if one can learn it, it's like the holy grail of music skill and completely invaluable and it's definitely something every serious musician should work towards if they can - but that alone does not make it a basic or even a requirement. Learning sheet music is a basic and not many professional musicians today even do that. Don't listen to arrogant, elitist bullshit like that. Works towards that in your own time after you've gained levels in these other methods. -
King's Quest HD Collection would be good - and I've never played one. Ooh, scary though popped into my brain just now... the day when HD covers every facet of entertainment to the point where it creates an underground but very strong demand for LD entertainment and emulations thereof (like the chiptune scene today).

Man, I started getting addicted to HIGH SCHOOL OF THE DEAD after watching that bizarre booby-bullet-time video, but that was short lived. That first and I think second episode with all those underage kids getting massacred in the most horrible ways you can imagine without even the slightest hint of pathos or justification in the plot was too disturbing for me. I'm pretty desensitized to most of that stuff, but I draw the line at characters under the ages of 18 getting brutalized for no reason other than to show blood and entrails dripping down to an underage panty shot. I was ok with the show after that, but that... even now that really bothers me. And then factor in I can't seem to find ANY information on when more episodes might come out and I've largely lost most interest in any otherwise highly interesting series.

Looking for a certain MIDI
Meteo Xavier replied to jordanrooben's topic in Music Composition & Production
Just ignore Snappleman. A more curious topic is how Jordan did not find the Tallon Overworld MIDIs on vgmusic. I found both of them: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/gamecube/mp2d_TallonOverworld1.mid http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/gamecube/TallonOverworld.mid Granted, one is a slight rearrange, but those should be what the OP is looking for. -
Need a sample, synth, or effect? LOOK HERE!
Meteo Xavier replied to zircon's topic in Music Composition & Production
He's right about the metric though. An extra $25 is almost nothing. An extra $50-75 I could see being an issue, but $25 can be saved up in a couple weeks. -
Need retro Halo-style title music - $500
Meteo Xavier replied to JForceGames's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
I sent you a full track and a MIDI composition. When will you be checking your submissions and making your call? -
It kinda sounds like the ending theme, but I think thats a coincidence more than anything. Super Mario World, after all, didn't actually have a lot of different tunes - most of its music were variations on the same leitmotif.

What the Native Instruments stuff lacks in high quality, it makes up for with a wide range of equipment that is extremely useful and well-recommended to most game composers. People buy Kontakt not necessarily for the Factory Sounds (which are a mixed bag, at best) but because a huge majority of sample companies develop for and exclusively for Kontakt. The EWQL stuff is certainly great sounding material, but it's got a high learning curve on it and the PLAY engine isn't nearly as user-friendly. It just depends on what you want - better sounds (EWQL) or better programs/versatility (NI).

So that's where EVERY FINAL FANTASY VII SONG came from...
Meteo Xavier replied to BloodyL's topic in General Discussion
Every prog j-composer is an ELP fan. Check out Tarkus and listen to the SOM boss music or some of Motoi Sakuraba's early re-arrange albums (they sound similar to me at least). -
GameChops looking for EDM / Electro / Dance VGM Remixers!
Meteo Xavier replied to DjCUTMAN's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
How often do you DJ these tracks live? That'd be an excellent way to get more followers, but thats what I'd be interested to know if I wanted to contribute. -
It's a bent sine wave at really high frequencies. You just put like 12-25% portamento or slide/glide on a sine wave in such a way so it kinda starts out bent, if your synth can do that. If you can get your hands on z3ta, its in V13 soundbank called Trinilead.

Seiken Densetsu 3: Songs of Light and Darkness - History
Meteo Xavier replied to Usa's topic in Projects
My internet's been going in and out since last night and this is my third time attempting to post here. For most intents and purposes, I am FINALLY moved in and although I'm still working on stuff and can't commit 100% back to the project yet, I'd say I'm about 75-80% there. So I'm around if anyone needs me, I still just got shit to work on - especially now that my internet's having issues. Hope this posts. Thank you! -

Recommendations for cinematic, fast, African chase music?
Meteo Xavier replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
There's no way in hell I could get choirs like Baba Yetu in there, but the Casino Royale one is awesome. Thanks Sinewav -
Rock Drum Samples/Instruments
Meteo Xavier replied to Magellanic's topic in Music Composition & Production
The best ones I've heard/used so far have been the Black Kit from Ministry of Rock and the Black Kit Elements from Stormdrum 2. Those are quite expensive and the only real reason I'm suggesting them is just to add them into the list here, but I really quite like them. They're the closest to the Motoi Sakuraba sound I'm looking for.
