  1. Hooray, now my entry can be in colour!* *There is no guarantee whatsoever that my entry will be in colour.
  2. Will it be enjoyable to people who don't know much about Metal Gear Solid? I want to watch it, but I'm a little hesitant...
  3. Vegeta! What does the scouter say abou- ...nah, I'm not gonna do it. This is a forum that has not yet been taken over by strange memes, and I don't want to present the wrong image But honestly, how often does this opportunity come up?? Here's the official newbie welcome thread: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10835 Welcome! =) Click "User CP" in the bar near the top, then "Edit Signature" under "Your Control Panel".
  4. I think there's a chance your idea and my idea might be the same idea.
  5. I finally finished today! Well, finished practice sketches. Started practice sketches. ...for Marvel vs Capcom. BUT I'M STILL GOING TO FINISH BEFORE THE DEADLINE THIS TIME!! I plan to use a style I don't usually draw in though... not that there is a style I usually draw in. But I have NO IDEA if it'll turn out nearly as good as the picture in my head. I guess we'll see... (Only one week left by the way)
  6. Hehe, yeah, no offense intended. In fact, it was nice work! =) I know.... but the thread starter probably doesn't know >< Oh well, it's not like I want another debate about the forum rules to spring up. In off-topic, at around 9:00pm PST tomorrow. BYOB.
  7. No reply? Was it the right song? Geez, the thread starter is probably going CRAZY trying to find this thread because mods keep MOVING THREADS OUT OF OFF-TOPIC FOR NO REASON Poor guy probably thinks his thread was deleted...
  8. Haha, font was too small so you didn't read his post? Hmm, is it the "Part 2" and "Part 3" videos uploaded by the same guy? You probably want it in higher quality though. A google search for LordXius biohazard techno remix mp3 gave this: http://www.kaneva.com/asset/assetDetails.aspx?assetId=4125523&communityId=0 ...which is probably what you're looking for. It sounds like it could be a different version of the Part 1 song (or maybe all 3 parts), and the audio's high quality. Searching for years? Really??? I kid. But for the future, here's a website that can help you find things: http://www.google.com/
  9. The tone of your post is SOOO opposite to my way of thinking - but mainly because your final point is already so obvious to me. I guess I'm one of the few who "really take it to heart". Does that mean I'm a major pessimist for fully expecting the tears and sweat before they happen - or am I a major optimist for not letting the fact of failure bother me too much? Either way, you'd better remove "epic fail" from the thread title. You have twenty-four hours.
  10. Of course, if I would've played the game, I wouldn't have had to worry about researching the characters or settings I can play them on PC, eh? I might just have to try it... after I try all those other games I've been meaning to play over the years
  11. Aha! I thought of a great idea that's too awesome to not draw - but I'm not 100% sure it fits with the theme exactly. Should I tell you what it is Coop, or just "let the voters decide" like I usually do? Actually.... if you look at it another way, it does fit the theme completely. I'm not sure if people will look at it "that way" though =p Bah who cares I'm drawing it anyway
  12. Yikes, it's almost Final Fantasy 6 o'clock!
  13. Ah, if you don't want to do it "live" style, then that's perfect =) Awesome, then I'll have to play you again too
  14. Hehe, all three of us drew the same dragon ^__^ I guess it's not really limiting, just... intimidating? Drawing a scene from a game you know nothing about can feel like a crap shoot where you can end up with this: Concept art rarely looks like the end product in the game, and low-poly in-game models often differ a lot from how the world REALLY looks, as shown in pre-rendered cutscenes, promotional art, or instruction manual art. If the theme was Megaman and I didn't know anything about Megaman and I spend 6 hours on a drawing where the only reference I could find is this: http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/6101/198243-cntgmmegaman_super.jpg ... well actually that would be pretty funny =p I guess this was just a difficult theme to research for. But then again, I'm into researching way too much before I start a drawing. I can't draw something from a game unless I'm swimming in reference images and backstory =p Either that, or there's some great reference images to go off of, like when I more or less copied Crono's pose from the box art. To me the dragon images are cool to look at, but even when I see awesome pictures like this: http://www.moonapples.com/lagi/pd3/creatures/images/pd3_atolm1.jpg ...I have no idea what this guy does or what it is, so I wouldn't be able to draw it beyond copying the image directly and guessing what the background might look like.
  15. No kidding =D I still have NO IDEA what anything is in it though.
  16. To be honest, I could see this coming. The contest died a long time ago, but then it was revived using broader topics that spanned a large variety of games. Instead of "WarioWare" or "Chrono Trigger", there was "Boss Month", "Mecha", "Badass chicks", "Creatures", "Blizzard games", and "Marvel vs. Capcom". I can't speak for anyone else, but I entered several times for games I've never played, sometimes even never heard of. I entered Chrono Trigger because I thought trying my hand at an anime-ish style would be fun, and making a "Chrono Cereal" cereal box was just TOO MUCH fun. I entered WarioWare because Wario is awesome in the Warioland games. I entered Skies of [blank] because it was very easy to find compelling and self-explanatory reference material. And I entered Secret of Mana because it was the first month ever, and someone gave me a request. But Panzer Dragoon... I have no idea what the heck anything is. I can see there are some cool pictures of creatures and places, but having never played the game I don't know anything about them and can't draw them appropriately. And I've never drawn anything from a game based solely on concept/promotional art or solely on in-game sprites or models - I always use both for reference. However I wasn't really able to find creatures in screenshots that matched any creatures in the concept art. I had no idea which game to choose, or which characters or creatures or places in the game were important or compelling. I mean I could have just picked something at random and drawn it, but I didn't have the passion to do it, and I'd still have no idea what it is. And I did ask for requests, but when Dshu posted a few, I had no idea what these things were even supposed to be, and wasn't able to research them (though I suppose I could have asked Dshu what they were). And then Dshu didn't enter either So, pick something that spans a large variety of games! =D [Edit] And I guess my entry requires a bit of an explanation... Typically each FAC gets a joke entry or two... just look at Bonzai's sig if you want to see a winning entry. I chose to draw that creature because there was more than one picture of it (some different pieces of contradictory concept art, and then different angles/poses of a couple contradictory 3D models)... but even then I did not know the creature's name, what it looks like in the game and animates like, who rides it, whether it's good or evil (are there even villain creatures?), what this creature does... you get the idea. I would've even put the name of the creature and called it "the Burninator", but I didn't know its name, nor whether it burns anything.
  17. Naw, I'm just saying that the casters should be able to see whatever they want on the map, as opposed to just the tiny area that the camera guy is recording. Sending or streaming a video of any kind, no matter how live, will not solve this. Normally I wouldn't care, but that final match makes no damn sense unless you know what's going on behind the scenes, away from the action. Also I don't want to end up in video-sound-syncing hell; I've been there several times, and it's not pretty.
  18. Yes, but only because I explained it badly, since I came up with the idea as I was typing it and didn't want to erase everything I had typed five times. Here's the short version: 1. The 2 casters plus the "camera guy" all fire up the audio chat thingy, one guy does a countdown and everyone starts their replays at exactly the same time. 2. ??? 3. Profit! Even if the video is recorded first, there still needs to be a countdown or syncing of the visuals for all parties involved. The only added complexity of casting inside SC as opposed a pre-recorded video is: - All parties must pause the replay as soon as it starts (as easy as pressing the pause button on the keyboard) - Game speed must be changed from "fast" to "fastest" (and that can easily be synced by having multiple small countdowns instead of just one countdown) And the benefits of this are: - The casters actually know what's going on in the match and have something to talk about besides terrible terrible damage. This is good, unless the casters want to be just as surprised as I was when JadeAuto ********************************* and *********************. - Alternatively, the guy recording the video can record the stuff that's good to watch, as opposed to constantly checking out what we're building and researching.
  19. Is that how it was done for the other game that was cast, the video was recorded first? Hmm, might be tricky to figure out what to center the camera on, but technically I can do it. But ideally the casters would want to be able to move the camera wherever they want to see what's actually going on. Actually, what might work best is if the two casters open the replay in SC and pause it immediately, and then do a countdown in the voice chat - "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, NOW!" and they both start the replay at exactly the same time. That way they'll be able to see what's going on on the entire map, see the players' tech, etc, instead of just where the fights are taking place. But that might be tricky to pull off, because for some stupid reason the replay starts at the "fast" speed instead of "fastest", so the commentators will have to sync their two "speed up" button presses as well. Actually, that'll probably sync it close enough. And... and then AFTER the commentary's done, someone can record a video of the replay with the audio commentary, starting the replay and turning the speed up at exactly the same time the casters did, and centering the camera on what the casters are actually talking about. Whether it's me or Jade or one of the casters who does this, it doesn't matter, but that would be ideal. Actually, if we get a third (possibly silent) person to join in the casting and hear the live audio, they can record the video DURING the casting. Haha, I'm terrible at managing my free time, but I'd probably spend TOO MUCH time in this thread if I were to run the competition =p
  20. Well, I thought I was the worst ever at StarCraft, but after three months of practice and watching some pro videos, I managed to beat my only two opponents in the tournament. I recently started ICCUP and played a couple dozen ICCUP games, and I'm hovering between D- and D with a ~25% win ratio. And I have no clue what my APM is, but I'm sure it's quite low. So, chances are you'll fit right in Although, the two best players in the tournament weren't available to play, and they probably would've mopped the floor with me given the chance. If I'm lucky maybe I'll find Battousai or Nekofrog in the irc channel some day and we can play some matches =D
  21. Well, the tournament's over, but the OCR SC irc channel #ocrsc on irc.enterthegame.com is still around. And there may or may not be casting for the tournament's final matches, but it's already been a while since they've been played. (And watching the replay for the final match, it looks a lot more one-sided than it seemed during the game... only the sides do switch on at least one occasion =p)
  22. I don't know, but it reminds me a little of Metroid without being blatantly Metroid. I guess the book you're thinking of had pictures in it... or was it just one picture on the front cover? In any case it reminds me of the 80's for some reason...
  23. And romance. Anyone here want to cast alongside Tensei? I guarantee it'll be fun!! =D
  24. Ok, so my idea to make a good Indian-style song isn't working. Time for plan B: intentionally cheesy 90s Bollywood!
  25. Commentary is best with more than one person... I'm sure the Korean girls in your sig have a decent recording setup ...I mean, at least one of them must be a Starcraft fan, right? They probably have a song about Starcraft.
