  1. True. f(10); f(int characters) { printf("%d characters.", characters); }
  2. Nope! In most cases nowadays programmers have practically unlimited space for code, and functions are used to make your life much much easier. This game turns that on its head, but it's still a fun and very addictive puzzle game! And I suppose this is a good place to confess that I forgot to inform Sephfire and SGX that I used "Intense Color" in my latest comic endeavour. I'll attempt to tell the story behind it without embedding three videos in this post: 1) www.y outube.com/watch?v=7nBDXiK_r8c <-- Released 6 months ago by someone else, used "Intense Color" 2) www.y outube.com/watch?v=Kq_mk9QisP0 <-- Released 4 months ago by me 3) www.y outube.com/watch?v=lVohCC2-K8c <-- The sequel to my previous one there, released last week by me, uses "Intense Color"... it's a crossover of epic proportions! Two worlds of quasi-poop, colliding into one video that has all of TWO COMMENTS..! Please watch my stupid, stupid videos! Unfortunately, "Intense Color" did not fare too well on the journey to youtube-quality mono =/
  3. Hmm, come to think of it, I don't know the answer to either of those questions. Let's make some up:
  4. Bump again! Hope it's not too videogame-y: The amazing robot sprite was taken from Robotron: 2084. Coincidentally (I noticed this after I'd started making it) that's the one kind of robot in the game that can't die. Total time wasted: about 2 hours =) I still like just64helpin's better
  5. Bump! I was serious by the way; now that I've thought of a decent concept, I actually aim to start and/or finish something in the next half-hour or so. Wish me luck!
  6. Oops, didn't mean to say I was doing Robotnic; I was just tossing out the idea because I want to see a Robotnic Also: Protoss Dragoon and/or Stalker.
  7. Hopefully I'll have time to enter this month - I already know exactly what I'm going to do. Also: Robotnic.
  8. YEEEEAAH I must take time from my busy schedule to design you a logo thing! [/fanboyish glee] But how I'm going to beat the previous two entries: I have no idea. Stay tuned for giant 50-pixel-wide pixels.
  9. who's atmuh? sum noob? So it's looking like I'll have to skip this one... =( Someone draw a redead for me please!
  10. ZOMBG! No idea what to do yet, but I really like this theme!! =D
  11. Hmm, they're similar, but not exactly the same. I'd say purely coincidence. Both songs have the same (12 quarter notes)(whole note) pattern, and they both song very consonant, with a similar (the same?) chord progression. For both songs, they obviously wanted it to sound good. If there were, say, 12 or 14 notes instead of 13, it would've sounded worse. If the notes were more dissonant, it would've sounded worse. So, both composers simply came up with songs that sound similar. That's my theory at least... Or maybe the Ys's (?) composer used the Metroid song as a starting point, and then didn't deviate a whole lot...
  12. Ooops, my apologies Again I must bring up the nature of the voting rules: they're designed to pick a single winner, and leave all other entries in the dust. IMO Sindra's looked both the most polished and the most interesting - given past contest results, it looked like a clear winner to me (no offense to anyone!!). And just look at that terror bear - how can you say "no" to those eyes?? =3
  13. Hoooly smokes I suck - half of my entire two votes was from me =O Does this mean I shouldn't try so hard, or I should try harder?? I'm thinking the former. I must find the other person who voted for me and ask for a hug (in a completely non-creepy sense) Perhaps I just lost votes because I act like an ass in this thread, but I think I'm seeing a trend here... Kirby = win, Teddy Bear = win, Nightmare = lose... Clearly what draws in the votes is cuteness. I vouch for "cuteness" as the next theme! (My previous theme idea was "irony") Congrats to Sindra though! I don't think anyone else had a chance =p
  14. Personally, I thought the movie was... *coin lands with burned side up* ...full of plot holes and uninspired dialog and action. The Joker wasn't scary or funny, the chase scene made no sense at all, and there was no tension whatsoever due to the bad acting of all the main characters. Except for Two-Face and his pleasing coin-tossery - what an admirable guy!
  15. I voted for you! Every vote in this contest is a vote for Atma (yaaaay!!)
  16. So I'm curious: did anyone end up thinking of anyone else's ideas?? And I already have the perfect idea for next month's theme! ...to suggest to the winner =3
  17. Well, if you've already finished the lineart, it won't help much, but here's what I did: 1) Draw the lines on the paper. (It's ok if there's a lighter drawing underneith it, just make the "final" lines darker). I just used a pencil for this. 2) Scan, adjust contrast. 3) In Photoshop, I added a dark grey Color Dodge layer to remove a lot of the unwanted lighter lines, and a light grey Color Burn layer to darken the wanted lines. Alternatively, you could just fiddle around with the Curves filter. 4) Make a clear layer, and use an incremental/transparent white paintbrush to white-out the remaining unwanted lines. I put this layer underneath the Color Dodge and Color Burn layers, to make the whiting-out look more crisp. I also added and darkened some lines on this layer. If you don't like a change you made, you can use the eraser to undo it! Depending on how you do it, it still might look a little "sketchy" and unclean... it really depends on the quality/thickness of the lines in your original drawing. Certainly the lines in mine still look like a pencil drawing, but it's a LOT cleaner than my standard FAC fare, which looks like I don't know what an eraser is. I've gotta say, this time the messiness actually fits with the drawing's style and subject matter. One thing I like about this method is that you can always adjust the line quality on the fly, make all the lines appear thicker/thinner or softer/harder just by tweaking a few things.
  18. Ah, I was just going by when last month's contest ended - deadline was June 27, which meant 11:59pm of the 27th. Actually, with the incredibly efficient (lazy) line-drawing technique I just discovered, I'll probably be finished by tomorrow night!
  19. WhAAAAT??!! You mean "less than 48 hrs"? I've got some shit right now I could submit, but I'd rather submit, well, not shit.
  20. Oh heh, guess I should've posted the hi-res version of the CD cover Ah well, I like The Wingless's better anyway
  21. Thanks to a sudden rush of the opposite of procrastination, I whipped up a little something: The drawing looks phenomenal at high res, so I zoomed in on it quite a bit (losing precious pixels/inch in the process). This pic is 66% of the original size... IMO it doesn't quite do the full-size one justice. Welcoming suggestions and criticisms! 'night!
  22. Thanks!! Seems to be working ok. I'll work on it (and hopefully finish it) tomorrow.
  23. SoulinEther, could I have a PSD (or other layered image format) of your cover? I feel I could do a lot with the different pieces you've got. The reason I've been holding off helping is that, well, since bLiNd probably doesn't know I exist, I didn't feel I was the right person to be making the album cover. Although, I've always been a fan of his music! I'm certain I'm not alone in that I've listened to all of his ReMixes in one sitting (twice!) =D
  24. Egad, deadline is the 27th! Expect another last-minute entry from me...
