  1. Am I the only one who's realized he is joking? That the creator of the video really believes the opposite of everything his kooky-review-video-ego says? Surely that must be the case, as his arguments are all ludicrous and backwards. Throwing enemies at each other for hearts, collecting cherries to get a starman - those things made the game so much more fun! SMB Advance is awful because of all the reasons that he said makes it better. Anyone here played that game? It's so easy it's not even remotely fun, and all the "cool powerups" they added are lame and unnecessary (they actually make the game boring). Doki Doki Panic's gameplay is truly worse than SMB2 in every way that it's different. Except for maybe the sliding heads HA! Read the video's description [Edit] I remember this game! Here, this review's quite a bit funnier:
  2. That's it, I'm gonna stop looking in this thread. All this time avoiding looking at concept art for fear of spoilers, and now it's made its way here =( ... I wonder if this game is going to coax a lot of people to play System Shock 2... With any luck it will =)
  3. Very happy with this update. In both a "that looks like fun" and a "that's an informative update" sense. Looks like they're really doing some fun and useful stuff with the B (er, "special") moves. A lot of Melee's somewhat useless B moves made me sad =( It had better be fast! This leads me to believe that the boomerang will be not so fast. Good to add in some variety =D The clawshot recovery... my guess is it'll still be harder to do that a spin attack recovery (ignoring your opponent), and will auto-aim only slightly. If your timing's so far off that it doesn't know which ledge you're trying to grab, it might not grab one. Then again, auto-aiming is not the only factor that'll make the clawshot recovery easier than in Melee...
  4. Yes, but that doesn't mean you manually switch between the two functions - it could simply be two separate moves. It'd be kind of weird if Samus lost her recovery move by switching to gun mode... then nobody would use the gun as a gun.... besides people who want to show off, or are guarding an edge in a one on one match, confident they will not get knocked down themselves. Unless the gun is REALLY good.
  5. This one was a "cliffhanger" indeed That, or a "slowly slide down the wall" thing like you do in Megaman X games, would be great. Of course, it might also be a little unfair for certain characters, in certain stages... Before we know it there'll be a new technique update: "Wall Sliding" So, if Zero Suit Samus's B-up is the whip, can she still do a triple jump? Will she still be able to do that "mode switch" thingy with her gun (that thing she does in the trailer)? At least I'm now rather convinced that the Zero Suit form will be a selectable character. Hopefully Sheik will end up being a secret character completely separate from Zelda, and Zelda will get a fourth special move =D I want light arrows!!
  6. Nor do I. And sure, they're small. But they'll probably have some kind of shiny effect on them like the items in Resident Evil 4.
  7. Oh, sorry, I didn't mean it as an insult I literally thought you had not read the update, and were assuming that all 3 pokemon are on the battlefield at the same time, like the Ice Climbers ><
  8. If by "found this game's 'Ice Climbers'", you meant "didn't read the update", and by "we" you meant "you", then yes, yes we did.
  9. Naw, looks pretty fake to me. I love how they shoved the Metroid Prime 3 artwork in there with the blue lighting that comes form nowhere. And just look at those characters. Pirahna Plant? Rayman? Birdo? Oooh, look who's on the composer list: That's the guy who hides "Totaka's song" in games he composes for. I mean REALLY hides. It may not be found in Brawl for weeks, months, YEARS. Read the description of this video, and watch it for a short taste of its awesomeness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OsN8mbpZRA I'm simply too excited by this... time for some sleep.
  10. Yeah, what you said. They should really stop doing that >< They should totally leave Sonic as a hard-to-find secret character so people totally go insane when they unlock him =P [Edit] Actually... If I had the job of making a Brawl ad for Best Buy, I'd totally put Sonic in it just to confuse everyone. And I'd actually try to make it look authentic too =p
  11. I'm not a Pokemon fan, but, wow... amazing character choice, including the 3 "main" pokemon (and a trainer) without using 3 separate characters. Now I have high hopes that they'll be doing weirder things with some of the other characters, in the same vein as Wario's gas-build-up and his bike. Hopes they'll replace some of Melee's (and admittedly the original's) more useless and uninteresting moves with... useful and interesting ones!! =D Perhaps the alternate costumes are... other completely different pokemon trainers?? Team Rocket????? Heh, Team Rocket could be a whole other character, where you control Meowth, and... whatever other ones that they have. Each of the three probably has different weaknesses/strengths... let's just hope the added versatility doesn't make the trainer TOO good.
  12. This also means, if the winner from the previous month chooses an obscure game, we'll have a ton more time to learn about it, or play it - or even beat it. And I'll actually have time to finish my Flash entries before the deadline (still got 2 outstanding!)
  13. Umm, as someone working on the project (the guy responsible for programming said "game in development" so far, if you can call it that), I might want to request this thread to be locked. Then again, this is the worst attempt at a thread revival ever, so I don't particularly care what goes on in here =p Just for clarification: No it didn't. No it isn't. Yes it is. Seriously. This is just too fun.
  14. Umm, as someone working on the project (the guy responsible for said "game in development" so far, if you can call it that), I might want to request this thread to be locked. Then again, this is in "off topic", so I don't particularly care what goes on in here =p Just for clarification: No it wasn't. No it isn't. No we're not. Seriously.
  15. The non-flinching might not even be as powerful as Yoshi's non-flinching double jump. Did Yoshi's double jump make him unfair and better than everyone else, and... what is "sweet spot" used as a verb? What's this, a character that has a move that may make it better for beginners??? =O What on Earth were they thinking!?!! [/overreaction]
  16. Woah, didn't notice that he said "Scourge" rather than "Undead", good eye Slip of the tongue I suppose.
  17. Quick google search reveals this: That would mean the movie takes place only 3 years after Warcraft 3, so the plot would likely use Warcraft 3's events as a backstory. Look, your "uhhh" post made me waste 10 minutes making this boring post. For shame!
  18. Seems likely to me as well. My, Samus sure is taking a beating. C'mon Samus, hit 'im back! He’s not flinching?! Aim lower, dummy! Anyone notice Bowser's expression when he's getting hit? And Samus' body language - just from the still shots you can tell the character animation is gonna look amazing.
  19. Hmm, not that I was ever looking forward to this, but I'm dissapointed that the story is about the events around Warcraft 3 (possibly minus the undead, which was probably the most interesting part), rather than the great backstories of Warcraft 1 and 2. The whole Warcraft universe seemed so dark and interesting until a bunch of purple elves and talking bulls showed up I sincerely hope the movie will focus heavily on the Orcs and demons, and their past and present struggles against each other. The story of, for instance, the dark portal, or how the Lich King came to be, have a huge amount of potential to give the movie a dark/serious tone. If they choose to bring in all the Night Elf lore, and all the Human lore, and the High Elf lore, then the movie will just be a twisted mess of confusion. I'd much rather watch a "Curse of the Black Pearl"-eque backstab-fest between all the big orc and demon players - though it'd be played out more through war/battles than anything else. Hmm, since the Alliance is in the spotlight, they'd be wise to focus somewhat on that guy who opened the dark portal in the first place. Though I'll admit, the whole story of Illidan vs Arthas vs those demon guys in WC3 would make good movie materal. But they said they probably won't include the undead, so that's pretty much out the window. They'd better include WC2 death knights though, or at least some form of frighteningly powerful magic wielded by the "bad guys". The orcs just aren't a compelling race without all the evil powers, or at least the rich history of said powers. Non-demonic orcs and Taurens would make pitiful antagonists. Most likely what will be happening is Warcraft 1 and 2 will be summed up in 10 minutes at the start and then referred to several times afterwards, much like the defeat of Sauron in "Fellowship of the Ring". I'm more concerned about the movie's story than anything else - if it's an entertaining story, I don't really care what's in it. But if they just take the Night Elf and Human stories from WC3.... it won't be a good story. Oh yes, this post is coming from one of those people who won't touch WoW with a 10 foot pole. I did play through WC3's campaign, but it seems all the events from WC1 up until the start of WC3 (i.e. including the backstory in the WC3 manual) was so much more interesting than the stuff that actually happened during WC3's campaign. What I'm REALLY hoping is that they don't expect the audience to know all about WoW's backstory, and that they don't leave out WC1 and 2 because they happened too long ago in the past.
  20. I don't think temporarily "becoming" an invulnerable assist trophy would be that unfair, really... not much more unfair than assist trophies that only attack other characters. You heard the man. Make NO MISTAKE!
  21. I think you might find the answer in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFtw7qW7Vcw Shooting fire: Shooting BIGGER fire: Shooting blue thing: Shooting BIGGER blue thing:
  22. I'm curious if stages like this one and DK's stage will loop, and if so, how. And I sure hope the transition to the bottom (or in DK's stage, to the top) takes more than 2 minutes. But what will the underground look like? I've got a hunch it'll look something like this: (BRAWL SPOILER WARNING!) http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/2916/undergroundvx9.png Ah, I love Photoshop ^^
  23. Hmm, I don't see Klaymen as much of a fighter.... wait, he was already in a fighting game, wasn't he ><
  24. ... Do we really need to post that video again? For the 8th time in this thread? Yes, I think we do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFtw7qW7Vcw Ahh, never gets old Although Earthworm Jim would be the best character ever (he'd probably manage to be funnier and more awesome than Wario), could you imagine an Earthworm Jim STAGE??? Especially one that involves launching a cow, which later falls on a player? I couldn't.
  25. If bluegrass is what I think it is, then the key might just be that oh-so upbeat rhythm. If I recall, the rhythm goes 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 (very fast), with bass on 1 and 5, and a STRONG upbeat on 3 and 7, often followed by a weaker note on 4 and 8. Sorry I don't really know if that's the case - or maybe that is the case and it's just plain obvious - but I hope I can be of some minuscule help =]
