  1. Anything METAL.
  2. Honestly, I think Tales of Symphonia ruined me for Gamecube-based RPGs...
  3. Hmm, interesting. I've only played Skies of Arcadia for Gamecube, but I gave it up after awhile anyway cuz it didn't hold my interest.
  4. I don't read romance novels, so I don't really know the stereotypes presented by them. But yeah, they're written by women for women, so if you want to get a glimpse of the shoe on the other foot, there you go.
  5. Just so, Lyrai. Big burly men in video games are MEANT to appeal to males.
  6. Difference is, male game character stereotypes are not perpetrated by women. Both sides of the coin are male power fantasies; by males, for males.
  7. What do you guys think aboot RPGs like Baldur's Gate, Fallout, etc... the ones that let you play as male or female with no practical difference between the two. Do they move forward from the gender imbalance in games, or is it a bit of a cop out? Like, here's a world, make whatever character ya want, we don't care.
  8. It says Christmas samples, but not what year.
  9. I've always been very partial to Spirit of Damascus. Welp, your request has been noted.
  10. Any particular track you looking for?
  11. I don't know if this video series is worth doing, doesn't seem to be generating much interest.
  12. Now you've got 2 of 3 albums in your sig completed. Edit: no wait, that was Essence of Lime. Oops. Well, I'm going to keep my original statement intact so people can see how dumb I am.
  13. Sounds solid to me. Live sax is great, pushes song over the edge from good to great.
  14. Aw yea. Great job on the quick release after the bit of dramarama. Yay, this gives hope to interminable remix projects everywhere.
  15. Agreed. I think that's why some male gamers get really defensive about it... "What, me, sexist??!" But that's really what it is, societal sexism, when we accept it as natural for the woman to be rescued in a game (or movie, book), while the male characters can make their own escape by strength, intelligence, or guile. That's not to say all men are horrible or anything, which is not the point of this video series I don't think.
  16. Length is definitely a problem, since there's nothing approaching the source until 3:30. It feels like a 3.5 minute remix bookended by an original track.
  17. God damn, that's a seriously epic thing to do. Is that the same guy who replaced the gender text in some Zelda game for his daughter?
  18. Somebody get on Super Mario Land. DO IT.
  19. Yeah man, if reducing the width sounds better go right ahead.
  20. Maybe the nasty shit people say online has some actual bearing in the way they think? I know I for one have never felt the need to use violent, misogynistic, anti-semetic language. Even in jest.
  21. This is just embarrassing.
  22. Sure, if a sound is too wide. Mixing in mono is a different thing, though. I hope we're on the same page here. Mixing in mono doesn't mean you render the track in mono.
  23. Not buying it. The level of misogyny, threats of violence, rape, death threats, and even anti-semitism she received goes well beyond garden variety trolling. She struck a nerve with this project, unfortunately it was in a bunch of dudes with some real issues towards women.
  24. Some tasty links now in the original post to pique peoples interest. Lots of great 8-bit tunage. I pulled the tracklist from.... somewhere, don't remember. Hopefully that covers everything.
