Honestly, I think Tales of Symphonia ruined me for Gamecube-based RPGs...

Hmm, interesting. I've only played Skies of Arcadia for Gamecube, but I gave it up after awhile anyway cuz it didn't hold my interest.

I don't read romance novels, so I don't really know the stereotypes presented by them. But yeah, they're written by women for women, so if you want to get a glimpse of the shoe on the other foot, there you go.

Difference is, male game character stereotypes are not perpetrated by women. Both sides of the coin are male power fantasies; by males, for males.

What do you guys think aboot RPGs like Baldur's Gate, Fallout, etc... the ones that let you play as male or female with no practical difference between the two. Do they move forward from the gender imbalance in games, or is it a bit of a cop out? Like, here's a world, make whatever character ya want, we don't care.

Agreed. I think that's why some male gamers get really defensive about it... "What, me, sexist??!" But that's really what it is, societal sexism, when we accept it as natural for the woman to be rescued in a game (or movie, book), while the male characters can make their own escape by strength, intelligence, or guile. That's not to say all men are horrible or anything, which is not the point of this video series I don't think.

Length is definitely a problem, since there's nothing approaching the source until 3:30. It feels like a 3.5 minute remix bookended by an original track.

Not buying it. The level of misogyny, threats of violence, rape, death threats, and even anti-semitism she received goes well beyond garden variety trolling. She struck a nerve with this project, unfortunately it was in a bunch of dudes with some real issues towards women.
