VGMix was my first exposure to game remixing and inspired me to make my own, even though they were horrible. Glad it's coming back.

I agree with Flexstyle re the sound of the orchestra and conservative arrangement. Always nice to see Fire Emblem love. Hope you keep at this!

You can get a "metal" sounding kick out of a normal one by cutting out the mud in the low mids and raising up the high end so it gets that scooped clicky sound. As for snare, keep it nice and snappy with a compressor or envelope, don't let it ring out. Hi hats get mixed pretty low in metal and use mostly the overheads. Just some vague suggestions, they may be of no use to you.

What did you use for the guitars, if you don't mind me asking. Amp sims and all that.

What's to criticize? You clearly know what you're doing with teh metalz.

I participated in a Garritan World Instruments content awhile back on Indaba and was pretty unimpressed with the free sounds.

Wow, I really like this. Playing is really tight. Production sounds hot. Only criticism I can make is the snare occasionally has a machine gun sound. I think you have a winner here.

Chrono Trigger makes me tear up in spots. The music definitely contributes in large part to that.

I hear what you mean. probably wouldn't be a bad idea to tweak those sections further.

Are you going to have tryouts for tracks, or what? I imagine every single person who reads this thread would like to contribute to a FF7 movie. I would say you're going to need to go about this the way all the other projects happen.
