  1. So yeah, you guys know the first downloadable content package is Guitar Hero 1, right? Like all the songs. That's pretty much the heat. Stupid XBox. I'm really starting to like the 360 despite myself. As for the controller, yeah it might be a tad messed up. Also, practice owns.
  2. Indeed, though it and Six still make me cry a little on the inside. If I owned the game... As for the 360 additions/changes; wow everything looks crisp and shiny. Did they omit the wavy-screen bullshit in this version? That would be just fine by me, since that mainly served to trip me out and give me a headache if I looked away suddenly. The X-Plorer feels like it's more responsive to everything except for the whammy bar. I was playing my homeboy's yesterday and we both noticed a serious lag in it's action. Also, the tiny select button would be lame if I didn't rock the crap out and throw my axe up for star power. Finally, while attractive, the design of the controller makes it irritating somewhat when you're used to the PS2 version, where my right arm (strumming hand) can simply hang at the corner of the controller and balance it. You get used to it, though, so no biggie. As for songs, most of the additions are cool. Possum Kingdom is fairly fun to sing along with if nothing else, Salvation and Life Wasted aren't bad for low-tier songs, Rock & Roll Hoochie Koo and The Trooper are of course freaking awesome, and the only one I hate is Dead. No, I'm not going to put the stupid fucking exclamation mark on that song, since it's an emo piece of crap. BTW, your sig is freaky as hell, Metsubo. /long post
  3. Likewise. I don't even recall seeing any at E3, More Friends, or Dear Friends. Sad, really.
  4. That's pretty much what I said. Also, if they have lobby chat, which they should, just ask who will do vocals. If some little kid swears up and down he does the world's best Ozzy Osbourne imitation, leave and find another game.
  5. Happy day of birth, sir. One more year. Stay strong.
  6. Enough not to make snide posts, I guess. Meh. This subdiscussion is silly. A friend brought up a point; playing over the intarwebs means little kids on vocals. Obviously, that is lame. So, hmmm.
  7. Can't say I didn't expect this, though I am happy they decided to go for all current-gen consoles on this one. As for drum games that were successful translations of drumming, I might point out Donkey Konga and Taiko Drum Master. Both simplifications of the actual musical instruments, obviously, but then again, so are the guitar controllers. As for the song list, they're probably going to have to branch either farther into pop then they have thus far gone, since the focus of these games isn't exclusively the guitars. We'll see. Having said all that with some constraint, this is fucking awesome. I have a chubby.
  8. Weird. Quoting someone doesn't include their quotes anymore. Hmmm.As for fun factor, I can't think of too many Nintendo first- or second-party titles that really made me grind my teeth to play them. This is the company that gave us Wii Sports for God's sake. Obviously, when it comes to creativity, there are points both for and against the Big N. Fanboy though I am, I will admit that yes, they do whore out their franchises a little, especially Mario. Can you really blame them, though? Mario is amongst the most, if not THE most recognizable of company mascots in the world. Also, many of these titles are innovative ideas with familiar characters strapped to them, such as the aforementioned Wario Ware. Every once in a while, though Ninty will stray far from a formula, often for awesome results, such as the freakin' brilliant Pikmin series or Animal Crac...err...Crossing. The principle difference I see between Sony and Nintendo in terms of internal development is that Sony is rarely focusing as much of their resources on the matter, or at least, not producing as much in the end. What they have made is usually pretty excellent, but, fairly understandably, Nintendo has in the past and continues to push this side of their software with force, outstripping them at least in terms of quantity, if not quality as well. BTW, propers to G_D for admitting your mistakes with those edits.
  9. GET YE TO LAOS'S THREAD. That's link-worthy. Ouch. I didn't even mean to make that pun.
  10. Um. I liek Cowboy Bebop. Also, Samurai Champloo is pretty good, if considerably less serious overall. Trigun if you haven't seen it. Gundam Wing. 08 Team was pretty solid too, what I saw of it anyway.
  11. Happy birthday, good sir. I'll crack a cold one for you in absentia, listening to the sweet sounds of 'Tears for a Moonlit Knight.'
  12. As cool as those are, they're not technically AMV's. Are we looking for Machinamae? Also, Magda's right. Animemusicvideos.org is understandably a great source for amv's. That having been said, if something's linked onto youtube that you've seen elsewhere, you might as well use it, unless you know of a higher quality video link elsewhere.
  13. Macho macho bump. Come on guys. I'm sure there are plenty more somewhere. Kenshin? Samurai Champloo? DBZ? SOMETHING?
  14. Second place. RealFolkBlues lieks Cowboy Bebop!??1!? May be a bit biased, but still some great videos.
  15. What you're probably looking at is a pay cut (at least if your restaurant's clientele was any good) but a much simpler job. If you can put up with people when it comes to food, you're more than likely gonna be just fine dealing with them in a retail setting. If you want to avoid having to put up with people's shit and generally get paid a little more, you might want to check out gas station or convenience store clerk positions, where if people piss you off, you can tell them to sit and spin with impunity. That is always awesome.
  16. Testing kind of depends on the developer you're working for, but for the most part, it's gonna be eight hour shifts of playing one game at a time simply looking for glitches and not getting paid dick. Be that as it may, it's a very simple way to get into the industry (hardly any credentials are necessary most of the time,) and testers are often in such demand that they will take applicants right off the street.
  17. The definition of art is fairly broad. Fine art, on the other hand, gets into all sorts of levels of debate. One thing that has been lacking from most of the discussions of games as art that I've seen is the power of critics. In some circles of academia, film still isn't considered a fine art. A few critics of today have weighed in on the debate one way or the other, but there still isn't an established base of critics in the videogame community. Oh sure, there are reviewers and journalists galore, but the thrust of their discussions is almost always centered around games as games first and art maybe a distant second. Once the medium becomes more established, some of this will shift towards critical analysis of the work as artistic expression, lending more and more credibility to the acceptance of games as art.
  18. Still good, if old. Has that not been linked to in LAOS's thread?
  19. This movie stomped asses. Lots of them. If somebody can pull off Ronin now (good luck, that graphic novel was bizarre,) I'll give a pause before I ever talk shit about the movie industry again. As for a serious critique of the film; the only real beef I had was that so much emphasis was placed on the Spartans fighting for freedom, when in fact they were terribly oppressive autocrats historically. This might have been the case in the graphic novel, but either way, it's a little off kilter with reality. That having been said, the movie did great if one allows for that.
  20. Happy b-day to the b-unit! I hope you have a b-eautiful time, and get b-shitfaced. Hmmm, that last one didn't really work.
  21. An idea, and one that possibly may be silly, but still; perhaps there should be a gen disc thread (a sticky, maybe?) just for competition reminders for those of us who need our memory jogged for this kind of thing. Seems like that would almost defeat the purpose of having a second forum, but it could serve as something of a compromise for what Atmuh's been screamin.
  22. Miyamoto's speech is at 18:30 GMT. Did you guys see this? What a crock of shit. I am one incensed fanboy.
  23. I dunno Tauce. I have several of my best friends in town right now for spring break, and I don't know that I can justify driving out to Raleigh for a night when I can't even afford my rent right now. Sorry dude. Best of luck to your team, though.
  24. Happy birthday Pixie! Have a car bomb for me, since I wasn't there to help tie one on.
  25. Hmmm... they haven't chosen a director yet, so we'll see. They totally need a parkour guy to be the Prince, though that might limit the acting ability. I just hope they keep the movie true to the game's witty and charismatic Prince as opposed to the second game's generically angsty rock dude.
