  1. This mix sounds way too much like the Guile mix on the "Image Album" arranged by Capcom - http://www.chudahs-corner.com/soundtracks/sf2image.html It's good, but it just sounds too much like the already arranged version, which I didn't really like anyway. PlatformerMastah, the version on the "Image Album" has the "Sonic Boom!" sample and it fits really well. I like Guile as a rock song better, anyway. Mazedude, thanks for the props on the OneUp Mushrooms arrangement. We really like playing it, and we've made a medley of "Guile" and "Ryu" - they rock really hard now!
  2. Very good stuff. Quinn, you've take the right direction - I'm loving your mixes. Kinda cheaped us on the fade-out, but keep the good songs coming.
  3. Very well done. I'll actually keep this one - that doesn't happen too often. Keep it up. There's really not too much to say except that this is excellent. I'd like to check out your original work.
  4. One of the best mixes on the site, and definitely my favourite McVaffe mix. An incredible arrangement. Please download.
  5. Guys, I REALLY appreciate those comments. This is my favourite remix that I've ever done, and brought someone very, very special to me. If you like this, check out my band, the OneUp Mushrooms ( www.OneUpStudios.com/oum.php ). Thank you so much, everyone. Hearing comments about "La Samba De Agua" are the only comments I really care to hear. My best, -m
  6. I really appreciate this arranging. Very well done, and very inspired. Not just "do it twice then fade out." Well played. But you gotta upgrade the sample quality. Get together with another remixer and have them do them do the synths for you and maybe have someone mix and master the track. It could sound leaps and mounds better (meaning the actual sound is muddy and the instruments don't cut through as well as they could), but again, the arrangment and music is awesome (meaning, the actual way you arranged the instruments and the bit of composing you did, not to mention the Mega Man 2 quote - all excellent).
  7. "Streets of Rage 2" is my favourite game soundtrack by far, so it's always hard for me to listen to a ReMix that holds up to the original. And I have to be honest, no SoR2 ReMix has impressed me enough to keep it Yes, I am very biast. But I felt there wasn't enough that was improving upon the original. Sorry, bro. Keep up the ReMixes, though. Obviously, people are enjoying your work.
  8. As much as I hate Protricity and all of his player-hating fagatronics, this is a solid and impressive mix. Everything before this I deleted, but I think I'll keep this one. Great, great work. Which is a lot coming from me 'cause I hate that fucker Protricity. He started it 'cause he's all jealous of me 'cause I'm all hot and shit and he's gay lololol Excellent samples, excellent instrumentation, and great guitar work (which is also a lot coming from me 'cause I fucking hate guitars). The drums are really cool. I'd expect someone to complain about how they're simplistic, but simple is almost always better, in my opinion. And who doesn't love that little panning effect at the end - totally rad. Keep making music like this and I won't hate you so much. But you can keep hating me 'cause you know I'm better than you LOL
  9. Hey there. Yeah, we do po!'s arrangement of Axelay, but with live instruments. It's really cool. There won't be too many more arranements up here on this site, but we have an album coming out soon, and we have free tracks to download on our site, with more coming soon. Thanks for your praise!
  10. Weg, I would have prefered to send an eMail, but your address was not listed. Excellent job on the piece. The track lived up to djp's hype (a rariety). I don't really have any complaints, which is rare for me (anyone who knows me will attest to this). I would have done some different things with the processing, but that's more personal preference than anything else. What did you use to make this mix? If you'd prefer, eMail me to continue the conversation. Producer@OneUpStudios.com Thanks for the tune - looking foward to more. -m
  11. Perfect mix, man. I usually wouldn't say anything, especially since I already said something on VGMix 'for it went down, but I gotta say it again. This is great. And that's a lot coming from me.
  12. Hell yeah! Finally, someone backin' me up! Brown pride, amigo!
  13. Nice arrangement. Terrible recording. EVERYTHING is clipping. D, listen to the crunch in the mix - that's not normal. It's clipping. The audio has gone over 0.0 and is causing distortion of the sound. Bring the levels of recording down. The guitar is too loud. Get a nice, clean sound (listen to some jazz albums - Wes Montgomery, for sure) to hear a great jazz guitar sound. The drum loops is just too loud. What are you using to piece all of this together? There should be meters in any decent program that shows you how loud the outcoming audio is for each track. Should go green - (maybe yellow) - red - PEAK. It's good to get your levels in the red - makes for a good recording, but if you peak - it's useless - the audio has distorted. Bring it down. Then there's the master levels - make sure that you are mixing your audio properly. You'll have to pull down ALL of your tracks and adjust the volume to make sure that the master output doesn't go above 0.0 - otherwise you have what you hear in this track at 0:15 - distortion. Nice arrangement - get a better recording of it. You'll have to record that guitar again, too Keep at it.
  14. My absolute favourite remix of all time. This is a 100 on a scale of 100. And po!'s "Forest Starlight" off of SQUAREDANCE is a 99 out of a 100. So, po!'s got the OneUp on all other remixes. I'm not sure why I like this so much. I think it's just the closest to main stream this hobby of arranging video game music has come. The instrument choice is perfect. And the chords are intense. The drum part is perfection. The starts and stops are so well-timed. The vibe solo is totally awesome - I love how po! does a lot of quotes in his soloing. It shows that he has a full understanding and appreciation for music. And of course, there's a good ending, which can dramatically change an opinion on a song. All's well that ends well, I believe is what "they" say. Mad props to po! He's the man. I can't wait to meet him, and I can't wait to hear more music from him. My favourite remixer.
  15. ...or, you can correct your mistakes. It's obvious the mistakes are there - other people are acknowledging them, too. Please, head the criticism. We all make mistakes. I make plenty. But when we strive to correct our mistakes and not make the same ones in the future - that's progress. Not correcting your mistakes and just shrugging it off and doing it again - that's congress
  16. If you want to stick to art, fine. But don't be discouraged - be encouraged. How many people have heard this song? I don't think you could even begin to fathom. Because people don't just get the songs off this site from here - there are news groups, FTPs and so much more. You couldn't count how many people, and that kind of audience is great. So, do another song that you like - get help from people in #ocremix and the Works in Progress forum. And this time, everything will be in the right key, all of the harmonies will match up, and no will have anything bad to say, eh? Giving up is easy to do. Don't be like that.
  17. It's not about mixing software. When it came to the mixing (when you pull the volumes of the different tracks up and down to find the balance - the center, if you will), he did a good job, as I mentioned in my review. What he needs to work on is music theory. Why are those chords wrong? Why do they sound bad? Stuff like that. I'm just trying to help the dude out. I told him what was good and what was bad. If he wants to get better, he'll do it better next time. S'all.
  18. Not sure why this was posted. The only thing that's the same is the original melody. Much of the time, the different sections of the piece are playing together, in their own keys. There are only a couple of correct chords. Sometimes, like at 1:30, I want to reach for something and break it. Get your chords right, Ziwtra. If you don't know what chords are, why are you remixing? Learn about chords, harmonies, etc, then come back to remixing - you'll be a million times better. You had some great ideas - poor execution. But good production quality. Everything's very sharp and clean. Learn about music. Come back and do this right. And get some better samples.
  19. I don't think this is your best work. That would be reserved for Overdrive This is good, though. Getting better. Keep at it!
  20. Good stuff - love the ambience. I'm sure Maridia is proud. Thanks, CotMM.
  21. This song is fucking brilliant, and that's coming from someone who doesn't like distorted guitar rock. It just makes you want to bite your lip, headbang, and push down on that accelerator so hard - who knows what will happen. But who cares. This is good music. One of my top five favourite OC's.
  22. Sounds like Mr. Sanger wasn't too bothered by my remarks. As I mentioned/implied, I respect him very, very much. It's a tough market, and he's done so many things that I need not get into to make game music much more of a respected art. He admits the remix isn't so hot. No one's at a loss. He still makes more money than you and has more of a name than you do [note: this is not aimed at anyone, but all of us]. It's the same crap with me right now. The constant "you suck!" and the sucking up. I hate to see how that's going to be in 10 years... Thanks again, Mr. Sanger. I look forward to meeting you in the future.
  23. Not very hot. I don't like The FatMan's originals, nor do I like this remix. Where's the variety? Sorry, but this is more of a novelty. Some of us take this very seriously, and this doesn't hold a candle to what some of us are doing here. However, no one (except virt) comes close to holding a candle to what The FatMan has done and is doing for game music. God Speed, Mr. Sanger. You're an inspiration. Get ready to hand over the reigns...
