  1. [Laughs] Hey, great story. Glad to hear your Dad isn't too much of a snob to not listen to this. Always good to hear of a Jazz Head listening to something outside of Jazz Also, yes, this song is from A Link to the Past and not as listed. InfinitysEnd, just because something has a soprano saxophone in it does not mean it's elevator music. If you want to be close-minded like that, that's fine. I guess you really are the end of infinity. And it's OneUp Mushrooms. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Neskvartetten, though I can't pronounce it, is still the best video game music tribute band. Their talent and musicianship really shines bright. Yeah, it's a lot of fun to mosh around to the Minibosses and NESkimos because they're music is great, but Neskvartetten really makes me think about how I arrange and listen to music. These guys know their jazz. I'm both envious and in awe. Hats off to them and another superior track.
  2. Oh so very nice. Glad to hear an arrangement of this calibur, and from a game that I really enjoy. Well done. Hope to hear more. Always nice to hear something non-electronica every once-in-a-while. Keep it up!
  3. The trumpet isn't real. It's a soundfont called "3D Trumpet." You can get it for free at www.HammerSound.net Regardless, this is a great arrangement. Very good stuff, though my favourite Gux is "Wily Metal."
  4. This is very, very nice. Good piano sample, and I love the idea of the non-sequenced music. I love how old 16-bit and before song lend themselves to these "sappy" styles when slowed down. I always like to hear someone's interpretation of an upbeat song like this. Mad props. A worthy download. Hope to hear more tunes like this.
  5. Ahhh... Somebody said it. That's the best thing I've ever heard, ~Al~ As for the mix, I didn't recognize it next to it's original track, which makes me question is elegibility for an OCReMix. But it's well done. Very nice, very ambient. Only problem I had was the issues of derivative.
  6. I don't think the song was "asking" for anything, especially a "trance beat." The orignal piece has roots in latin music and general orchestral marches. If you ask me, Disco Dan's trance kinda came out of nowhere, but works quite well. As for ripping on "last man standing," you should learn that people aren't always going to agree with you. Try cycling through the past few pages and seeing that all of the criticism is pretty much the same: "The song is great, the strings are a bit loud, and the ending is a little drawn out." You can't please everyone, and Disco Dan does a great job pleasing the masses. I know I'm still listening to it. And if one person wants to hear what you've done, that's all that really matters. No need for flaming someone who doesn't even bother to add anything constructive to the mix (which would be "last man standing"). Also, after having listened to the mix some more, I really think it's well done, but I would have liked for there to be more of a bass precense. I don't think it really equals up with other trance tracks. This could partially be some limitations on the hardware end. The absense of the original bass part saddens me. Either way, there's a drought of Link's Awakening arrangements, and this definitely satisfies the itch. I think I might be tackling "Mabe Village" because this song is definitely inspring. Thanks, Disco Dan.
  7. Cool stuff. Nice to hear some new Link's Awakening stuff. Still my favourite Zelda game. The banjo is cool. The strings are a little much, but a good choice. Nice breakdowns in the track. Perfect trance music. The ending leaves more to be desired. In the future, I'd recommend ending a little sooner. The octave jumping in the strings is pretty lame. At least it doesn't fade out (I know it does, but it's not a fade out ending like in the middle of the song, if that makes sense). Maybe you had mixing in mind when making this tune. If you did, it's excellent for that. 'Cause right here I'd mix in some BT. Fun stuff. Adds a lot to the original. I like it.
  8. Two people post misplace the credit Now I have to post and make a clear edit It's Dale North and Mustin the title is quite true We did equal amounts of work and now you know, dude So make sure you give credit where credit it is due Dale North and Mustin bringin' it all do you BEYOTCH!BEYOTCH!BEYOTCH!
  9. How can you hate a saxophone? You're an idiot. As for the piece, it's pretty nice. The synth sax holds up pretty well. Really missed the whammy bar on the guitar parts. And why Tarintino? Why not The Revels or Dick Dale and the Deltones? Ah, Pretzel. Sometimes forgetting to give credit where credit is due. Definitely one of the better djpretzel remixes.
  10. Very fucking cool. I haven't posted in a while 'cause this site is so "bleh," but this is a great idea. I really like this mix. I'd like to see more creative stuff like this, instead of just the mindless techno Fruityloops default patches (though there are a few mixes on the main page that are excellent as well). Mad props for the use of the clocks, and the self-help stuff. Most delicious. I hope people like this one and appreciate the creativity. Don't support lack-luster music. Peace. Keep it real, E-Bison. (and maybe change your name..?)
  11. I love this song so much. It's always been of great service to me. Big thanks to Hazama for making one of my top five favourite pieces from this site. It's really, really good.
  12. Pretty good. But no his type. So don't suggest it. If it's not your type, then shouldn't you suggest it to people who do like this type of music? Fool... Thanks for those comments, everyone. Seems my favourite mixes are the ones with the least comments. That's what you get for doing something a little different, I guess.
  13. Yes, it's a sample from "A Day In the Life" - calm down. You're all right. Except for Protricity. This clearly provokes a different mood from people. And that's not bad. yay.
  14. I don't agree with anyone saying this sounds like a Work in Progress. I've been listening to this for months now ( ) and I think it's just as great as the first time I heard it. The only thing I would have done would be add a whammy bar and a solo. This is really faithful to the original, and I think it's a great little ReMix. No real need for critisism - I think Shadow knows what he's doing.
  15. ReMix - Nothing ground-breaking. Run-of-the-mill dance music. Try beefing up the drums and picking a better lead sound, and bring it out. WriteUp - Can we have some more unnecessarily bit words please? kthx
  16. Why the hell aren't there more reviews of this song?! I swear to God people don't know a good song when they hear it. Wouldn't know it if it was a gopher biting their leg and drawing blood while giving them rabies. This is the best hard rock mix on the site, in my opinion. Not my favourite (Wily Metal), but I think it's the best. Very well done. The lyrics are great, and I really like the singer. Plus the arrangement is just tip-top. And there's no denying the sweetness of those original samples in the song. I always punch the air as hard as I can when you hear the "Mac Goes Down" sound right before the "Mac's on the Mat!" music. Fucking brilliant.
  17. NoppZ! This shit is the bomb, man! Keep it up! Glad to see that some people are still creative.
  18. Maybe you don't play one of these instruments or something, but you can tell it's fake. Great brass samples, though. In passing, most probably wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't real (until you turned it up). AmIEviL? Yes, you are.
  19. Thanks for the props, but that's not all me. Most of the sax we record is Nathan Mcleod (Nate Cloud).
  20. Jared - I agree. Definitely sounds like The Memphis Horns library.
  21. Wouldn't call this funk, but I will call it freakin' fantastic. I kinda wish the notes stayed more true to the original, but the intrepretations are good. Excellent sample qualities, and this Blues Brothers-esque piece just sounds fabulous. Sounds like the "Runaway Five" got a hold of Mario. Is it me, or does Super Mario Bros. 3 inspire the strangest mixes?
  22. Hey, I really like the idea here. Cool starts and stops. But damn - the samples are bad. Sounds like it's all preset sounds or something. Gotta do better on the samples/sounds. Otherwise, cool arrangement. Never would have thought to do this song.
  23. You're obviously in the minority. I still say this is one of the best arrangements of video game music ever. Download Scott Peeple's excellent techno version if you want "techno." I like 'em both, but this one totally rocks me.
  24. Definitely has it's moments. Some of the percussion was questionable. The piano and guitar are great. Everything else is pretty good. Some of the "artistic liberties" with the chords and notes strike me as odd. I would have just done what was originally written. That really comes out the "worst" for me during "Kraid." Why did you change the notes/chords? Cool metroid effect. Beautiful ending. (bart, thanks for the props!)
