  1. To this I can only say one thing: LEVEL UP BEFORE YOU ENTER THE GARAMSYTHE WATERWAY. I mean really dude. You can't expect this to be like FFVII in that the monsters don't adjust level, or their AI is the equivallent of Jack Thompson on crack.
  2. So you'd prefer to see romance in each and every game? Wow, sign up Tidus and Yuna, they're ready to love!
  3. Please, for the sake of mankind, no inter-game time line threads. If anyone is to blame, it's Matsuno himself, who included all of the similar names of places, characters, and coincidences of the story events when he wrote the script. Heh, you mean like the Zelda timeline nonesense? I didn't intend to...because its all hypothetical. I like to talk about that sort of thing just for fun. But don't worry, I understand, apparently for some people that simple fact is extremely hard to understand, turning simple speculative talk into serious business. I was just curious though where that whole idea came from in the first place...like what in game brought it out. Actually, I'm interested in this particular conversation here. That is, on the simple basis that names of places, espers/summons, names of certain characters (i.e.: Cid), and a few other odds and ends. Honestly, I don't think you could classify any of these in any sort of time line, or continuum thereof. And if you think about it that way, that would mean that each game is part of the same world. However, if you were to skew from that, and look at each game as a different plane of existence, then you could explain in theory a reason behind certain elements being symbolically, or at the very least coincidentally, linked to each plane. For example, take Magic the Gathering. Each new expansion, each new set, has a new part of the universe to explore. The perfect example being the current set, Time Spiral, which revisits previous ages. You see certain characters, creatures, places, things, and whatnot, and you can explain this through a theory of relative time, possibly even some type of quantum theory could be used here. Anyway, long story short, my theory is that there are one of two explanations for the Final Fantasy games. Theory one: these are seperate, non-linear universes, and they have never, and never will co-exist, or flow from one into another. Theory two: each game is a new alternate plane/universe, and with each new plane, you continue to see recurring symbolism and coincidence. So yeah...that's my two cents.
  4. I didn't see this thread created, so, I figured I'd put one together. Final Fantasy XII has been out for a few days now, and I wanted to get an initial reaction from everyone who's played it. Good, bad and otherwise, I'd like to hear your opinions. I'm sure there's a lot of people who want to buy the game as well, that could stand for some opinions on it. So let fly the opinions. I picked up my copy of FFXII Collector's Edition yesterday, it comes with a bonus DVD with all kinds of goodies on it including an Art Gallery. Of course, you can get the artwork in the special edition of the Brady Games strategy guide, as it comes in book form as well. It's $29.95 USD at GameStop around my way, so it may be worth it if you're into the art of FF. So far, playing the game has been a lot of fun. In game sequences are nice, the FMV scenes in full CGI are awesome. And...of course, the music. So far, I've only heard a few of the pieces in the game just from playing, and so far I like what I hear. So I'm planning on getting my hands on the soundtrack at some point. Now that you know how I feel, what do the rest of you think about this game? Is it the best one yet? Does it replace FFVII at the top of the food chain, or is it another sequel in a long line of games? (And for those FFX/FFX-2 haters out there, did you think it was superior?)
  5. Well, considering the launch price, the lack of components, and the only game I want to play on the PS3 is MGS4, I'd rather pick up a 360, and a Wii, so I can play Chrome Hounds on 360 and Twiligh Princess on Wii. Period, end.
  6. Personally, I'd love to hear what this sounds like at 192. This is pretty phenominal at 112. Awesome job, I love prog rock.
  7. Very chill. I've been waiting for the next great remix album to come along, and here it is. I recommend this to anyone who loves Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and to everyone and anyone who loves music.
  8. Im definately on it! I signd up for 2 tracks. Zircon and others forgot to mention me Welcome to the party bLiNd, good to have you. I can't wait to hear what you mix.
  9. This sounds awesome bro, if I can be of any help, lemme know! BONUS! FIRST POST!
  10. So say the owners of this beauty: Oh, I see you've finally found my boomerang. Been wonderin' where it went.
  11. Glad you'll be back with the jams on saturday Larry. Guess maybe I should finish up a few of my remixes for my project and see if I can get them played before the end of the year.
  12. I'm sorry to hear it's going to be your last show. I wish there was a perminent VG radio show going. It's unfortunate. Well, despite only being around for the last couple of saturdays, it's been a pretty cool ride. See you for the final show Larry.
  13. Yet another excellent work by Mazedude. Even at 3am, before work, and tired as hell, I can still get chilled out to this awesome track. Keep up the awesome work Mazedude, I can't wait for your next remix.
  14. Great job Mazedude, keep it up. Oh yeah, and about the whole samples of Hitler. Hey, as long as it isn't anything bad, who cares? Ya don't seen anyone complaining about either of the Hell March themes from Command and Conquer? And they use samples of it too. Anyways, awesome remix, can't wait for your next kickass hit!
  15. I can only summon two words at time to describe this mix: KICK ASS!
  16. Thanks everyone for replying. That does help a lot. I'm gonna keep working with the distortion a bit because I really want to fine tune it to some specific styles I wish to use. I've been trying a lot different things for a distorted guitar, just short of recording my own guitar with some heavy distortion from my FX board. Still, at least this way I can really detail it the way I want to. Again my thanks for taking the time to help teach me something new.
  17. Well, rather than edit my post a second time, I decided to make a new one because it's a different topic than what to do with the midi out. Anyway, I'm trying to export an MP3 from FL. However, I used two Midi Out sequencers, and when I tried to export the file as MP3, Wav and MID, and then played it in Winamp, it doesn't work. I can't seem to understand why. Could someone shed light on this for me?
  18. Actually, I think I didn't quite say what I meant to the right way the first time. There's a setting in the midi out inside of FL, in fact, there's about 20 of them, and one of them is the Line 6 Pod 2. It's got some sub-function settings for distortion and things of that nature. What I was getting at is whenever I use those in-program settings, it just seems as though they don't work. That's what has me puzzled. I suppose I could be doing something wrong, but that's just me. I wish I did have a Line 6 Pod 2 though...I'd really have excellent effects for my electric guitars then. That'd rock. Edit --------- Okay, here's how to locate what I'm talking about: First, insert a new midi out into your FL step sequencer. Next, click on your newly created midi out to bring up the Channel settings dialog box. From here, you can change the way things sound, or so I thought. Now, you want to click on the midi out drop down menu which will bring down some choices. Once you see this menu with choices, click the presets choice, it will bring up a menu with different presets, one of which is that Line 6 Pod 2 I was talking about previously. That's what I was talking about before, I figured I'd just guide you to it, maybe it'd make more sense that way, who knows, but I figured it'd be better this way.
  19. Very simply put, I'm working with the Midi Out in Fruity Loops 3.56. What I'm trying to do is use the Preset for the Line 6 Pod 2. It's got a ton of cool effects, which since I started trying to remix, I've been looking to use those same kinds of effects to create relatively good electric guitar samples. Anyways, I need to know some things about the Midi Out. Specifically, I need to know if you can apply FX, and if so, how to do so. Also, I need to know how to play around with the banks, channels, and ports for optimum efficiency. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  20. Excellent job well done on this, the first of what I hope are many awesome remixes for you. When I first listened to this remix, I thought I was about to start playing the game itself. I mean really, you captured the essence of the game in this mix. It felt like I was transported to Alaska out in the cold depths of the wilderness. The ambiance of this piece is absolutely awesome. As for your mixing with the acoustic guitar and the backing tracks, I thought it was unbelievable. You totally blew me away with the way you played the acoustic throughout the piece and managed to keep it in time with the rest of your instruments. You really put some serious thought into this awesome remix, excellent job, excellent job!
  21. Once more, because I asked the same question, which has now become the jaded topic of late. There are demos in the new version of Fruity Loops. Unfortunately, that are not savable, so unless you leave your machine on 24/7, you have a one shot deal to encode your work to MP3, WAV, or what have you.
