  1. Deia: And if the lady is equipped well enough, she can handle drums by herself!
  2. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! We now officially have what our OCAD MAGFest panel will consist of! ...not really. And no, I'm not typing that, Deia.
  3. Wow. Amy, reading the writeup, I definitely don't deserve that kind of credit. I'm just glad the OHC-invasion of PRC afforded you the opportunity to do something like this, and then I just nudged you a bit to finish it. I couldn't have been happier with the result, as this mix seems so personalized and emotive. One of your best vocal performances to date, and great use of guitar and violin! You make those lyrics fit the mood perfectly, and while I can see how some would think the drums are a bit too basic, it's true that this mix was not drum-focused. They're functional and do their job, no more and no less. It's rock-solid and allows all the other instruments to explore their reaches without trampling on any rhythmic complexities (if that makes sense, it's hard for me to word this the way it sounds in my head). All in all, another mix to add to a great debut year you've had so far on OCR. Don't stop these gems coming. (and keep Vinnie busy giving you feedback!)
  4. Brad's just mad that he couldn't toot his own horn in the writeup for the third time Another great track for a very cool and interesting album project. Hylian surprises me a lot with his compositions, because he often takes them in directions I did not see them going. As halc said, fantastic and in-depth arrangement with tightly integrated saxophones. Definitely deep and moody. Edit: Eyes in the Deep? More like, Eyes in the DERP!
  5. I've had the response to this sitting in front of me for a while, sorry: I still really enjoy the source material. Guitar is nice, if only just a bit too lifeless. Drums could be more prominent in the mix, and after that I'll be able to tell if they need any different kind of processing. The vocals need some work: you can obviously get to the notes, but hitting them immediately and/or staying there seems to be a bit hard for you. Try singing an octave up if you can? Even if it requires you to sing softer, I think that could potentially help your accuracy and actually enhance the feeling you're going for. The song doesn't feel like it's going anywhere, besides switching up the lyrics. Besides just doing a slower coverish version with lyrics, add additional accompaniment! This could very easily go for the orchestral-rock style if you gather momentum and add backing symphonic instruments. Do more vocal takes to add harmonies for the chorus, and don't leave the song ending where it is. You could turn that ending portion where it fades out right now into a bridge, and come back to another chorus or end in a coda. In short: good skeleton, not bad, but really throw yourself and your ideas into this and flesh out the arrangement. And tighten up your vocals as best you can. Keep it up!
  6. I love slender man and he creeps the hell out of me. I will DEFINITELY be watching this as soon as I can.
  7. Just so everyone knows, an update WILL be coming at some point, but first things first: this song's going to end up the Songs for the Cure 2011 album. So yes, now we HAVE to finish it!
  8. LOOK AT THAT! No more tracks without WIPs! WOOHOO! Next week I ramp up to "Is it done yet? Is it done yet? Is it done yet?" mode.
  9. Episode 39 - Actual Content (Part 1) Making this one real fast. We talk about stuff. Lots of songs and LOTS OF RELEVANT GAME DISCUSSION, I promise. You will enjoy.
  10. Could also just be bad management decisions on Sega's part. Let us not forget what happened with Sonic Xtreme or NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams (see development history, last paragraph). PriZm has a good point that it may not be lazy/bad programmers. If the programmers want to get paid (and aren't getting paid on a sales basis), they have to follow management's decisions.
  11. http://lemonsinseries.com/ocrab/?p=230 Fanfic Reading - Naked Heart: In Soul of the Sun, by Comicsnix. The Powerpuff girls vs. The Sun with very very very wrong themes and explicit-ity. Also, we now have a ustream link for Sunday. Episode 39 parts 1 and 2 should be out shortly as well.
  12. The Title Theme wouldn't qualify as an OC ReMix because it is the theme from the movie, however I believe the rest of the soundtrack was original for the game. Good stuff.
  13. I'm still down with more of an idea of it as a musical, but a movie directed by Stephen Chow would be damn hard to pass up. OH, OH, I KNOW! History of the OC ReMix, Part 1! Directed by Mel Brooks.
  14. Ehh, the problem with pleasing Sonic fans is that Sonic doesn't have the market spread mario does over genres (getting there, though, especially with S&SASR), and that the old gamers are used to Sonic in one particular way, and the young gamers are used to Sonic in a different particular way. These two ways are nigh impossible to mesh and keep every side happy. Not saying that some Sonic fans aren't easy to please, but all of them? Probably not that easy. You're right about Mario's consistency, though. And Sumo Digital is an awesome studio who really need to get more work from Sega. They treat their work with very high respect. Unfortunately, nostalgia is seen as a cash cow by many producers. Only a few actually fulfill their promise to cater to that and/or continue the tradition appropriately (as subjective of a statement that is)
  15. Oh, OCAD will die at the end of the movie, but Brushfire won't die: he's doing lead vocals for that there greatest remix ever you're talking about. And while the credits roll, OCAD HD ReMix is announced and will be broadcast on every TV/Radio/Pandora/internet station on the planet.
  16. http://www.fathomevents.com/comedy/event/rifftraxlive_hohh.aspx?utm_source=RiffTrax_HOHH&utm_medium=SocialMedia&utm_campaign=HOHH_FathomPage

Rifftrax live next week. I told Brushfire and djp about it as well. Hopefully, we can find a theatre in between Baltimore and VA that works for all of us. You up for it?

  17. You're taking offense and baiting in a topic that is obviously very much subjective in opinion. It'll stop when you let it drop. This is just fantasy. Now, moving on: Yes, Gerard Butler is a perfect pick for me. Or Natalie Portman in drag. Either or. I'm making an additional list of other people who would be ridiculously accurate on the list.
  18. We recorded the first ever OverClocked After Dark episode on October 25th, 2009*. That means that Brushfire, Epicenter, and myself have been doing this insanity for almost a year, and to commemorate the fact that we actually made it this long, we're doing a LIVE episode this Sunday and we want YOU (yes, you, in the back) to call in and chat it up with us. Here are the vitals: What: OverClocked After Dark 1 Year Anniversary show Who: anyone who feels like calling in via Skype Where: Skype and ustream (ustream link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/overclocked-after-dark) When: Sunday, October 24th, 2010, at 8 PM EST Why: Because it's you, the fans, that have kept us going this whole time! Make sure you tested your mic before this so you know it works. 2) log onto skype, send us a message letting us know you want to participate (can be any time before or during the show while we still have time) 3) load up the ustream and listen in. JOIN US! Edit: Also, beta forums are now official, the KNGI OCAD forums will be retired within the week.
  19. Just letting you know that The OverClocked Plaid Muffins are watching this thread with great interest. Specifically because one of our upcoming arrangements is a big-band swing style, and we might be looking to boost our ranks for that track.
  20. Will start it up tonight and include a column for that. Sounds good, I'll link you when the doc has been created and we can start the thread.
  21. Maybe combine Gario's approach with my own: have a stickied site project thread, built on a shared doc that's administered by a few people. People post in the stickied thread if they have a few to add to the list, while those who want to do more long-term editing and researching get edit access.
  22. what he said. bon anniversaire to Douly-man, Protfgt, and Salluz!
