OCR01558 - Super Mario World "Monstrous Turtles!"
DragonAvenger replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
As told by the 4 pages of comments made in one day, this is definatatly something to grab now and listen to like 20 times in a row. Nicely done. -
Just 4 so far? Come on people! Let's get more entries!
-
Too lazy to type that myself.
-
....wow....I don't even know what to say to that. ...wow....
-
We should totally collab next round, when you're better and fix your mic port! Hope you feel better right....now!

Love it, such a driving force behind it. Very sweet. -
Any cheapasses? Better get to a Best Buy asap...

I went to two stores, and they didn't have anything worth picking up. I wasn't expecting anything, so it was no great loss. -
I'm ON the project and I'm not listening to the WIPs so that it's more of a surprise for me. Listening to WIPs not only will ruin the end-product surprise, but will give you a tainted view towards things anyways, as the songs are still evolving. Patience is key here, people.

I don't know if I'm gonna be able to get something in for this one. Student teaching's been very time consuming, and I haven't even gotten a chance to start on anything with this yet, even though I'm on February vacation! None-the-less, I will try to get something done, even if it's lyric-less. EDIT: Scratch that, I got something!

I loved this on Thasauce, and I love it here. It really does sound like a bank commercial, which makes it that much more awesome. -
Totally amazingly awesome. Congrats!

The lyrics are on one of the tabs on the mix page. -
Lol, I was wondering what happened there. No worries, we all have it happen sometimes!

OCR01552 - Chrono Cross "Dreaming Still"
DragonAvenger replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The vocals are amazing, as always, and it's always refreshing to hear Pixie's voice again in a new mix. That being said, I have my gripes. The drums really do bug me, because they constantly feel awkward, and just don't quite fit. Pretty much what the judges said in that regard. A second gripe is that the piece doesn't really feel like it goes anywhere, but in listening a second time I don't think it's entirely supposed to go somewhere, so that's more of a personal choice. Back to the positives, the lyrics are well-written, and a nice fit to the melody. I don't know if I personally like that they are different lyrics from the original, but again, personal choice, and despite that the new lyrics are very imagery-filled. Finally, I will always commend Pixietricks for her ability to sing as well as mix, as I am totally clueless on the latter (and the former!). Good job, defiantely a keeper. -
Offering up vocals for those who might be interested.
-
Hence why I didn't ask you to. Don't worry, I've got places to find it.

Is the name of the original literally "Seascape"? I need reference material. I'm up for collaborating if anyone wants an amature female vocalist!

Man this is awesome. This brings back so many memories and brings new light to the original song. I'll be jammin to this! -
A question for any Music Majors here
DragonAvenger replied to about:blank's topic in General Discussion
As mentioned, everything will depend on what school(s) you're applying to, and what major. In high school I had damaged my voice by shouting too much so that I couldn't sing even into the alto range, which made auditioning very interesting. For my music education audition I had to sing America the Beautiful, but I couldn't actually sing it in the key they asked, so they had to change it for me. At the same time, I had to listen to a cd of small passages and reproduce them on voice, which I also couldn't due because I couldn't sing the range. When I could I tried to jump octaves, but it was pretty hard to do, especially in an audition when you're not used to singing! Regardless, the people could tell that I could hear the notes, and if I'd had the abilities I wouldn't have had trouble reproducing them, so they let me in. One guy told me to sing to the radio more So, after a long story, I don't think the aural portion is going to factor too much into the equation, if I got into mus. ed. with no voice. As for the performance part, I brought in a sonata, and a technical exercise that I had prepared before. It's probably different for others, but I was told to simply prepare stuff that would show the melodic and technical sides of playing. -
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/animepictures.html That should help some people. I would love to see some Espeon work, as it is my favorite pokemon.

I was quite impressed with a good deal of the entries. Reiterating everyone, it was quite a tough choice to pick only three entries, and then order them. Kudos to all entries!

I think he's wondering like what speakers/headphones are used, soundcard, etc. That's my impression at least.

Why are there so few decent Chrono Trigger remixes?
DragonAvenger replied to Hal_Emmerich's topic in ReMix Requests
Efields did the arrangement of Summoner's Love in Garageband, which came with his computor. It's certainly doable to make good arrangements (at least decent stuff) with free/near to free software. -
I just started playing this for the first time, and I totally agree with this. It might be hard to remix, but I can totally imagine some pretty relaxing stuff goin to it.
