I thought it would be about online addiction with a subsequent delve into something general.

This should be everyone's attitude. Though it's not often that it actually works as well as Burn Out (but it still works).

Pandora is a nice way to branch out. I've found a lot of stuff there. But I wish there was a better site out there, to speak the truth. ...One that directly compared, percentage-wise, one person's tastes with another's. I think it would be a sure-fire way to find tons of new material and even meet others. But alas, there would need to be a web-development team equal to or greater in skill than Pandora for this to happen. I see scattered music communities attempt to do just that (that is, seek music from one another), but I think there could be a more efficient way, than even Pandora/last.fm, to do it. As one's life progresses, certain songs depreciate in value, I've found. Those with active minds ("musically passionate") eventually discover new, similarly meticulated genres to be... well, "better", even compared to previously highly-esteemed tunes. So there's this constant migration to higher forms of meaning in music that people desire, rather than letting oneself be subjugated to repetitive patterns that make humans realize, "Hey, I've already heard this before. And, now that I think about it, I hate it." Pandora is actually a great way to realize this, because on the site people hear one song after another, all similarly structured, and (most importantly) greater in quality than what other stations provide (allegedly). tl;dr: some songs are better than others and music lovers seek them out lol and web people roq.

Insanely better while inebriated with whatever. Sit back and listen on ultra high quality setup with a big room and a big sofa and you're set.

1. Some generic "Diablo - Final Fantasy" remix thing I heard on oth.net, and Napster, got me pumped to search for more video game remixes. (Upon reflection, I don't think that was even a game remix.) This lead to me hearing Impoetus as my first OCR besides Hyrulian. I had no idea what was going on but it sure was cool! Makes me realize that others can still experience music as awesome events. 2. In 2001/2002-ish, setting all I could on a discman, and lying on the floor with my legs going up the side of my brother's bed. I swear I heard songs that night that I'll never hear again, despite listening to all of them again later (but looking at the computer to see the names). Point being, it took me places. (Oh crap that was just my brain functioning oddly.) 3. 2002-ish again (might really be messing up these dates), brother playing Asheron's Call MMORPG with Disco Dan's 'Snake Man Get Down'. I remember it was one of the most unique songs I'd ever heard while it played through the beefy (for the time) system. It was another laying-on-the-floor moment. Scott Peeple's Punchout remix was similar, though I don't like that song anymore 'cuz of how the percussion sounds all repetitive. 4. virt. Then there was this time I spun up the discman while I was doing physics homework ah wait that was VGMix.

I take back my statements about volume. Just bought a sound card, new headphones, and downloaded foobar2000 and loaded it with a ton of DSPs, so now loud songs are LOUD. Like Beatdrop's MMX thing hah. Just thought I'd share.

The point of being objective is? WELL I SUPPOSE the only benefit of such is to counter those who mix nostalgia with objectivity. Oh right, nostalgia doesn't factor in with objectivity; I forgot! As for me, I never owned the games, or felt like owning them after playing them at friends'/relatives' houses. But they were always really unique to me, and have the utmost respect to those who have an attachment to the games. Plus, I must have liked Disney games :}

Not totally my style, but it sounds nicely cohesive. Just sit back and contemplate!

I enjoyed the ambient beginning. The sounds are really mixed well. The first "not 100% perfect" personal gripe is that the vocals seem too fast. My main gripe though is the chorus, as I guess I'm a purist when it comes to this song? Whatever, the rest is worthy. Only listened to once, shall probably listen in the future.

I just bought $200 DENON AH-D2000s. The experience between them and Sony MDR-7506s is incredible (maybe my Sonys are just really [REALLY] worn out, though). ...You may be wondering why I'm bringing up my headphones. Well, I started messing with (Winamp's) EQ settings for the first time in my life yesterday. And I have to say that, without a doubt, there is no best EQ setting. (Technically, this is true; but if people want to "lie" to themselves ...or are too lazy ...or like to spot songs with "amazing production"* via flat listening, then go ahead and set one setting for all. I know I'll occasionally become lazy and be content with a general setting.) This is because there are particular frequencies, in every song, that are stronger than others. (The bass---among other frequencies---in Protricity's 'Brambles in the Breeze' seems to benefit by a hefty [60hz] bass boost without a significant drop in listenability regarding other frequencies.) And since everyone uses a different setup, it's impossible to say what's best. As for my headphones of this caliber, every single song ever created sounds like shit unless I set a specific EQ, so this takes some discipline (or genuine interest in my case) to overcome. *Unfortunately, since different producers created each of your songs with different audio setups, every song technically sounds not so amazing without EQ boosts. Perhaps it was easier to tell what sounds good with my previous 'phones (they made me aware that certain frequencies existed that I couldn't find via "flat listening" with these new ones). But if someone listened to music with these even for the first time, the third paragraph should provide enough accurate information to create soundscapes they really enjoy. Random/Concluding note: the Sonys didn't seem to sound good with any EQ (too tinny), but perhaps I didn't experiment enough. Can't believe I just taught myself all of this last evening/night. And I may be still learning. Like even better headphones may wield crazier results. And holy crap, Adhesive Boy's 'Cry of the Chasmal Critter Chain' might be the best song I've heard via flat listening yet. His 'Braving The Flames' sounds good with "Live", though I should be able to tweak it a little to sound even better, given willingness.

Would you consider something like DENON AH-D2000 headphones producer headphones? They're 200 dollars (Sony MDR-7605s, my "old" headphones, are 100), and they're the worst headphones I've ever heard in my life. Edit: Maybe that's not true. They have a deeper quality to them after direct comparison. However, it still sounds a little weird/stupid/muffled. Maybe a headphone amp (a recommended accessory for these 'phones according to headphone.com) would justify the purchase. Edit2: Alright! Apparently the headphones don't suck. Apparently it's just that so many songs are not produced well!? But, like, every song is not produced well or something, according to these 'phones. I tried fiddling around with Winamp's EQ settings (for the first time ever [enlightening experience]) and came up with songs that sound insanely good. I didn't even know I could raise the dB level via that method---so songs like JigginJonT's 'Live from the Yggdrasil' sound way better from not being so quiet anymore (oddly, that arrangement's quality improves dramatically with the Winamp EQ preset "Ska", and of course the dB level raised differently at different intervals of the song). If this is how good it sounds without a headphone amp, then I don't know what to expect with one. Hopefully I'm not going mad here. If you're willing to change the EQ setting for a lot of songs, then these DENON AH-D2000 headphones are great! Perhaps certain headphones, including the MDRs, actually do "unflatten" the songs to accomodate for the casual listener who doesn't like messing with EQ settings. I can't believe I'm just learning about this now! And all from inference, too.

It's the return of DJ Frog!! anyway, I'm basically gunna be repeating Drumultima, but... 1. It's too loud. Your bass kick/some other stuff is clipping. This advice is 100% correct and must be changed (unless it's on purpose/stylistic, which this isn't). Lower the volume for all of your instrument/sample tracks equally and see what happens; it should sound clearer. Comparing your song with your favorite OCRs is useful. ...Preferably ones that are well-produced, like djp's Socket/Fortuna/Sveldt remix (and many other remixers'). This WIP is louder than most songs on the entire site. 2. The sections starting at 0:56 and 1:23 are both uncharacteristically dissonant/out of key, especially 1:42-2:12. If you were actually going for a dissonant approach, you would need a LOT of style to pull that off---you would have to make the whole song flow enough for the listener to be taken on a journey uncommon in music (on this site anyway, though I think Mazedude did something like that)---usually through the use of chord progression. But, since I doubt you are, there's no point in making a dissonant song. Also, considering the original is anything but dissonant, your audience wouldn't approve. Things to read up about: a) Auditory Clipping Key signature c) Chord progression
