  1. Or Star Trek II: No more Kirkin' around.
  2. Ok now that I'm awake, here are actual thoughts about it. For starters, I think that if Paramounts goal was to broaden the audience, they succeeded in spades as I brought two friends, one of which was familiar with Star Trek and another who was totally ignorant other than people telling him that the series sucks and out of the two, the second one enjoyed it the most even going so far as to call it his favorite movie of the year thus far. For me as a Star Trek fan, I'm glad that they were so enthused by it that I could toss in snips of ST lore here and there. Secondly, I loved the fact that they were able to keep so much of the lore in tact while expanding on the universe like the Vulcan academy and such. The fact that the actors played their characters so well was also great. I loved Scotty, Kirk and Spock, but I think I loved Sulu, Chekov, and McCoy much more in this incarnation. This really is Star Trek as it was meant to be. Would gladly see again and I want a sequel: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Nero.
  3. So I just got back from the movie... Holy crap awesome.
  4. No worries, I haven't changed it yet. Hope you guys make it.
  5. Metal Gear Solid 4 Xbox 360 announcement is a vague possibility. Other than that, I have no idea what MS has planned. Might bring out waggle. Sony will either announce some stuff that'll really bring 'em back, or they'll look the fools yet again. Might bring out waggle. Nintendo will go on about sales, sales, sales for the entirety of their stay. Maybe casually announce another "hardcore" game for the DS. Maybe announce another Zelda/Mario/Metroid for Wii or something. E3 just isn't that exciting anymore to me.
  6. Well I know plenty of people who hate the original Star Trek and all of its sequels. I'm also pretty sure die hard Star Trek fans would create just another Star Trek, which is what Paramount clearly didn't want in order to expand the fan base.
  7. Didn't the game just not work for awhile?
  8. Read the manga for Naruto and saw Haruhi twice. When the hell do they plan on making season 2?
  9. Well I admit it's just wishful speculation on my part mostly, but apparently the game was originally slated and was being developed for the 360. Sega decided to make the switch due to the low adoption rate of the system in Japan. But it's Sega, they'll bring it over eventually.
  10. Gundam's been going downhill for awhile. I liked a few characters in SEED Destiny, but it was pretty mediocre. Ok that's just being nice. It was pretty much bloody terrible. Gundam 00 S2 was the final nail in the coffin for me. So damned lame. I'm pretty sure the only Gundam series that I've thoroughly enjoyed was Gundam 08th MS Team, and it was pretty much due to the lack of anyone younger than 18 save one character. Anyway, so is there any new anime currently airing that any of you would recommend? No strange combination of school/loli stuff please.
  11. From what I understand you can remotely play PSX games on your PSP via the PS3, and if you want full PS2 hardware backwards compatibility(IE fully works with every PS2 game) you'll need either the 20 or 60(I think) gig models that were the first gens. They later removed the actual PS2 guts from the PS3's second gen run and put in software emulation which apparently sucks, and the new SKUs have no backwards compatibility at all.
  12. After playing my older brother's(whose motto is "who bought a PS3 for the games? It's all about the blu-ray") PS3 for awhile, , I can safely say I'm not a fan. Metal Gear Solid 4 is probably the real deal sealer, but it's probably headed to the 360 along with Valkyria Chronicles eventually. I'd say it'd be great for a blu-ray player, but there are other cheap alternatives by now. Looking around for the first gen runs would be good if you wanted full hardware backwards compatibility with it. As for the PSP, well I haven't touched mine in a good while although it'd be worth a used one for Crisis Core or something. I wouldn't spend the money just yet.
  13. I don't think X2 was particularly rock though... I think each one had it's own thing. X was kinda industrial-ish, X2 ???, X3 was pretty hard rock, etc.
  14. This should be extended to any Daisuke Ishiwatare soundtrack, as the BlazBlue OST is pretty rocktacular as well. Like this right here.
  15. Yeah, but said teenagers WERE getting slapped around quite a bit. And if that's not entertaining, I don't know what is.
  16. So we all have to send a message or just one of us does? Edit: Godammit! Void in Puerto Rico. Oh well, guess I'm out.
  17. They pretty much established Marina as the "waste of a character" character. I'm willing to bet if they wouldn't have tried to turn her into some kind of Relena Peacecraft-type character and left her out from the series entirely, it would have been a good move. And it was interesting to see Graham as the Char in the series, but all they did was have him go "I have a permit" this or "I'll win with this custom flag" that. They should never have resolved the Alleluja/Marie thing so soon(if at all), 'cause all she ended up being was dead weight to both the characters and the writing staff. Ugh... So damned frustrating. I think I'll actually make a full write up about it when I'm bored enough.
  18. TEN SHITLOADS! Also Malakhim is the name, duh for Unity and my gamer tag. Now go play the demo!
  19. The biggest problem they had with 00 is that they made that four year jump. There were new characters, conflicts, organizations and all that jazz, but they only had 25 goddamn episodes to cram it all in. Of course it's not as bad as Desitny(dammit I liked Luna and Stellar) that had a full 50 episodes and still turned out to be a shitty redo of Seed, but it was still pretty bad. Fanboys: "Waaaah!! You killed off our favorite character!!" Director: "OK OK Don't hurt me! We'll bring him back and say this guy's his twin!" Surprising that the director of FMA himself didn't have the balls to leave Lockon as a dead guy. Shit, they didn't even know what to do with Soma/Marie and just left her there to simmer until about the 20th episode when they just said "fuck it, bring back crazy Soma." I think towards the middle of the season, I was just watching it to say that I saw it. So much wasted potential.
  20. I'm in. You know the name. Unity name is the same as my gamer tag. Also, if none of you have yet, I seriously suggest picking up this demo. Hella fun.
  21. Well after playing Twilight Princess and reading through all the lore(and damnit I wish I could find my Gamecube, although I'd buy a Wii just for this game), I see now how that wouldn't work. It was a theory I think I read through a few years back, but now that I put it in context, it would make sense that Ganon would be seeking out girls with blond hair and pointy ears in The Wind Waker being that he swore vengeance on the descendants of Link and Zelda, whereas the Ganon in Twilight Princess was just out for the kingdom. I think however that the triforce also held power over the fabric of time and was the only constant in any parallel dimensions. When Ganondorf split the triforce in OoT, not only did it cause a rift in time, it bound him Zelda and Link as constants in each timeline. Or something like that...
  22. Until I rememberd the Arbiter Grounds, I thought that Twilight Princess was part of the Adult Link timeline and that A Link to The Past was somewhere after that at some point. I thought that Wind Waker followed Majora's Mask what with Link changing the flow of time so much in Termina that hundreds of years had past in Hyrule. I like these timeline things though not just because they try to connect 'em all together, but because it adds so much context and backstory to the series as a whole that I can appreciate it much more. I'm a huge lore nerd, so it's all cool.
  23. I'd like to see something on The Great Hylian Civil War. Too bad my idea for it sounds too Lord of The Rings.
  24. Short version: DLC is a fiasco thus far and I hate it. Long version: Read my posts on the FFXIII and 360 threads.
  25. Let me visualize it for ya. I-IX---X-- X-2----------XIII-----------------------------XII Even with all the additions they say they'll make to the battle system in the final version(which makes me wonder why they bothered to show off a demo if it was THAT incomplete) it's still going to be behind XII in terms of actual innovation. I don't know if it's because people who play turn-based JRPGs have the reflexes of a sloth and can't play anything that requires them to think on the fly, but it shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes of playing with the ATB system to figure out how everything works.
