It's worse than I thought. I'm just hoping whoever was playing just sucks at it(or was going that slow for demos sake), and that it can go much, much faster when put in the hands of someone who can really make it go. It's almost insulting to think that after the quantum leap forward they took with FFXII in terms of design, they're taking it back to some sort of bad hybrid of FFX-2 and FFXII. Seriously, A.I.-controlled party members in a totally menu driven battle screen? And why the hell are we still transitioning to said battle screen? Might as well just give me random battles. At the very least, they could have gone halfway and had the battle menus pop up after coming into contact with the enemy. I fear for the success of this game.

Agreed, and SE still loves money, so it'll be on the 360.

I didn't actually like the Kanye episode, or the queef one, or the economy one... In fact, other than "The Ring", I haven't really liked this season.

This right here doesn't bug me. In fact, it's a lucky break that we 360 owners even get to play FFXIII. If the PS3 gets stuff that the 360 doesn't get, that's totally cool with me. It's a simultaneous launch anyway. Just give me the option for DLC in the future sometime and I'd gladly put down some green on extra stuff. Which brings me to my next point. It's what Namco, Tecmo, and 2k Games are all doing with this whole concept of release game on one system, wait a year, and release on another system with gobs of new stuff with no way in hell for you to get amazing bonus content on first system. That shit would fly just fine in the previous generation, but shouldn't be tolerated at all anymore. I already posted about this in the 360 thread, but it seems like the whole idea of DLC is a big fiasco for a bunch of companies. Has anyone actually played the demo here, and if so what did you think about it. From what I've read, the producer or director said that they're gonna have to sell serious amounts of the game to make money back on it(which is probably what motivated the 360 port), and quite frankly the game worries me. It's been in development for years, a lot of the excitement has dissipated, people are tired of JRPGs in general, and after FFXII(which I loved to death), crazy fans are skeptical. If this game doesn't change minds and isn't up to the hype, I think SE will be in big trouble.

I just want to know one thing: Is it fun?

Do you speak Bachi?

You mean you actually made sense of that...?

Do they finally have sticks in stock now?

Well I had no idea that FMA1 wasn't faithful to the manga. I also know I don't really care, since it was still a great series. Also, Valkyria Chronicles just started it's run as well. I don't know if I wanna watch it just yet, or wait for the inevitable 360 port of the game...

New Full Metal Alchemist began airing recently with the first episode out this week. I don't wanna dash any hopes of an actual sequel, but from the way thing looks it's a reboot, which is no problem to me because it's still FMA and they're still calling Ed short. I dunno if I'll want to watch it now or if I'll just wait 'til Funimation gets the dub out. This was one of the animes that I really preferred the dub over the sub.

I think it's just more a case of a lot of their titles catering more to Japanese gamers as opposed to western gamers.

Man, the Playstation 2 had a very wide range of game genres. I should go back and start buying up stuff when I start getting cash flow.

From what I've heard, all three are pretty solid on the PS2.

Assassins Creed 2: Legend of The Same Tedious & Repetitive Gameplay: Reloaded.

I'm starting to get annoyed with all these Japanese developers(Namco, Tecmo, and probably SE) and their habit of releasing games such as Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata, Ninja Gaiden 2, and probably Star Ocean 4 on the Xbox 360 only to release them on the Playstation 3 not a year later that adds in not just extra content like new characters and outfits, but entirely new storyline and scenarios. Is it budget or time constraints? Did they actively make the decision to hold on to the content and wait to release it on everybody's(Japan) favorite next-gen console? Reason tells me that it's the former, but that doesn't lessen the sting anymore that we've essentially received incomplete games. What I don't understand is how we can't get this content what with the fact that we're in the DLC era of gaming. Maybe I'm just bitter, but I can't help but think that I'd still be pissed off about this mentality even if I owned just a PS3 or both systems

Only way I get better is just to know what each characters strengths and weaknesses are, and build my strategy based on what I know.

What happened to the front page? (A1)

Hey, it doesn't have a sidebar. -
Yeah, but you let it get to you. It's not like The Matrix is ANY different after Revolutions than it was before. It's all in your head, Mr. Anderson.

I know this will sound stupid, but I would totally buy a Wii for Punch Out, Castlevania III, and Majora's Mask.
-
Oh I agree with that totally, but you know, the first one's still awesome.

I've been thinking about this recently, and I came to the conclusion in that yeah, a sequel CAN be bad, but does it necessarily ruin the original? I mean, I loved the hell out of the original Star Wars Trilogy, wasn't a fan of the latest, and I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy IV and VII, but I don't think the sequels should prevent you from going back, watching the originals and enjoying them. Let them create their sequel. If it's good, hurray. If it sucks, well hopefully they won't make another but that doesn't change the fact that the first ones were good.

Again, missing the point. You can beat the guy, but then you can also beat a puppy with a newspaper. How is that fun? Also Global, that's totally fine if the person is dumb enough not to learn to guard for that move, but think how stupid it would be if you did the same move over and over and he still wails on you. You feel dumb and he probably feels an empty win.
-
That's hardly the point at all. Yeah, it's possible to beat a spammer no problem. But I want to have a good match, not a farce of a fight with some dumb retard.

Fixed for thread relevance.

You raise a few points, but what I was getting at is that FFVII is just another version of FFVI minus the victorian steampunk setting and elegance. it's like Midgar is The Imperial City mixed with a Zozo-esque underbelly, while Gestahl is President Shinra, who's obsessed with draining the life of espers, much like Shinra draining the life of the planet, etc. etc. I could go on.
