  1. I was quite wary when I read djp write about "manscreams & manscreamed lyrics" in the write-up, but it turned out much better than I thought. Usually, I don't like growling/screaming, but it works quite well here. I guess that's because it's there for only a small part of the song, i.e. it doesn't overstay its welcome. Positive surprise.
  2. See, I was wondering why this remix gave me such a distinct 90's feeling. Guess I found a possible reason. The choice and variety of instruments is great, and the vocals fit in perfectly. Just like anyone else, though, I wish this were longer.
  3. Very relaxing remix with a surprisingly powerful climax at ~ 5:30. The sample quality didn't bother me personally, though I agree with the posters who mentioned that the piano sounds kinda rigid and too upfront. I enjoyed it.
  4. Arcana once worked on a remix of this very song. A long, long time ago.
  5. Nice intro. Unlike many of the people who posted before me, I really enjoy the synth, to the point where it steals the spotlight from shreddage.
  6. Heh, someone asking for a "The Chase" remix right after a post by Arcana. What a coincidence.
  7. I like how varied the remix is. As has been said before, the individual parts are rather short, but they're long enough to appreciate them, and the frequent changes make this remix a blast to listen to. Furthermore, I like the sound of the guitars. Right up my alley.
  8. In his write-up, djp mentions how this remix evokes images of a "cool, refreshing shore", and I agree, though probably with a different kind of "cool" in mind. To me, the remix sounds like something you'd hear in an arctic kinda stage; very open, very chill, very white, very fresh. Nice work.
  9. The low health sound annoyed me at first, but I guess I got used to it. 2:10 onwards has a somewhat oldschool, club-y feeling to it; I guess that's what you were going for. Everything around the 3 minute mark really does sound like the OCR of old. Nice outro.
  10. I, for one, really like the cheesy synth. The arrangement is pretty nice, too; the end in particular stood out to me.
  11. So...do you make one of these every month? It's the name that got me thinking...
  12. The bass is delicious; your choice of instruments is, as usual, very good. The whole remix is brimming with energy. 1:43 has an almost spooky vibe to it. 3:30 and following is just balls to the wall awesome. Now submit Turtle Wank, dammit!
  13. You're not alone; I got the same vibe from the remix. That is, most of the time; the synth taking the main stage from 1:40 onwards has a very spacey feeling to it and evokes images of 70's SciFi IMO. Overall an enjoyable remix, but not my favourite OA track.
  14. Powerful, frantic remix. The guitar and drums are nice, but what really makes the remix for me is the synth. I agree with Bahamut about the mix being a bit short, though. A little more breakdown/soloing might have helped.
  15. Wonderful arrangement; the new elements improve on the original in many ways. Awesome.
  16. This remix really grew on me, especially the vocals. Hearing completely natural (i.e. absolutely no autotune or other technical wirardry) vocals is strange at first, but I came to really enjoy it; it feels as if this song scratches an itch I didn't know I had. About the Japanese part of the song: for someone who doesn't speak a lick of Japanese, your pronunciation is pretty good. Better than that of most Americans I met who did speak the language.
  17. The last one I downloaded was awesome, so I have to give this a listen.
  18. The first 13 or so seconds remind me of F-Zero. Other than that, this is another very enjoyable mix by halc. His remixes always make me smile.
  19. The gentle piano in the beginning makes you think that you're in for a relaxed remix, but then it suddenly picks up speed and turns incredibly funky. Faster than JM's usual stuff, but just as enjoyable. Great remix, and hilarious story behind it.
  20. Doesn't seem particularly repetitive to me. Granted, it doesn't go crazy with solos and melodic changes, but what's there never ever becomes boring. Great atmosphere, textures and layering. Looking forward to future submissions.
  21. I held off on commenting on this mix just so I could keep it in my need-to-listen-to-it-as-often-as-possible-so-I-can-comment-on-it queue. That should tell you how much I like it. Some of the vocals are a bit hard to understand, but overall, they're simply great, as is the acoustic guitar. Amazing mix; best one to be posted in a while.
  22. Very good production, excellently executed transitions. The piano throughout the mix is nice, though I don't care much for the ending; it's too long IMO, simple as that.
  23. Nice, smooth and jazzy remix, just how I like them. The Spanish guitar is a nice touch, and the strings add the dash of creppy atmosphere that really makes this a Castlevania remix. Wonderful.
  24. For the most part, the sound of the lead-guitar isn't my cup of tea, but there are some parts I really like about this mix, e.g. 2:02 - 3:10 and 4:08 - 4:19. Also, the synths are awesome.
  25. I'll echo what the judges said; the direction taken with this remix is definitely unexpected. But the end result is all the better for it. I like DnB, so this is right up my alley. Digging the way the source tune was arranged. Awesome.
