  1. Love the voice clip in the beginning. Interesting choice of instruments; gives the track a very distinct sound. Overall a very enjoyable remix.
  2. As usual, Neko wastes no time and gets to the meat almost immediately, i.e. rocks out from the very beginning. I used to have some issues with the sound of the guitar in Nekofrog's remixes, but in this one, at least for the most part, it sounds fine to me. The part starting at ~2:40 is the only one where the guitar grates on my nerves.
  3. Yesterday morning, I woke up at 5:30am, and this tune was playing in my head. Now that's what I call leaving a lasting impression.
  4. The build-up and wind-down work very well. And despite its length, the song never feels repetitive. I'm not too hot on some of the synths that come in at ~2:00 and the piano that follows, though. It just seems...so vanilla. Like every other trance song.
  5. Heh, that was the first thing I noticed when I saw the new skin.
  6. I like what's there, even though it's not much (speaking in terms of length). If the remix had been longer, it would've needed a real climax, IMO, or it would've drifted too much into BGM territory; the kind of BGM that's nice in the background but not particularly interesting to listen to on its own. Also, I, for one, liked the synth.
  7. Very relaxed piece. As was said before, the drumwork really lends some momentum to the song, but it does so without detracting from the overall laid-back atmosphere. Though I do wish the piano would've gotten more time in the spotlight.
  8. The remix starts out quite creepy and atmospheric, so I liked it from the beginning. I wasn't prepared for what happens at 0:45, though. That part blew me away; there's no other expression for it. Such brutal, raw force. Awesome stuff.
  9. The intro is very interesting to listen to if you're using headphones, but if the song is just playing in the background, it seems to be a tad too long. The guitar in the climax is quite nice, but what really made that part of the song for me is the organ. It sounds absolutely awesome and adds a certain prog-rock flavour to the mix.
  10. Personally, I thought that the source was quite obvious, though I wish there would have been more of in it; at times, this arrangement feels a little too liberal, IMO. Also, seconding what the write-up/judges said; the piano and the guitar don't sound as if they were in the same place; the guitar is much more up front. Nevertheless, this is an enjoyable piece of music.
  11. The organs are awesome, and for some reason, I really love the drums in this one. Not too hot on the phase effect from 0:38 onwards, though. Just not my cup of tea; it makes the guitar quite annoying.
  12. Same here. The choice of instruments is really good, though; especially the strings and the drumrolls hit the sweet spot. I hope we'll hear more from MJ in the future.
  13. Love the intro. Fun and cute chiptune. Arrangement and choice of synths is very good. I think that the outro is a tad too long, though.
  14. I love the synths, too. As much as the ending felt rushed, I think it's still pretty awesome, since it gives the synth some time to shine on their own. I just love their sound; kinda 70s prog-rock-ish, especially the last 10 seconds.
  15. "Intense" is definitely the word I'd use to describe this remix, too. I probably wouldn't have recognized the Robin S. - Show me love influence without reading about it in the write-up, but since I know what to look for now, I can see how you used it.
  16. Just like the drumwork made it obvious that skrypnyk was involved in this remix, the bells were what made me realize that this is also AnSo's work. Loving the faster sections from 2:04 to 2:30 and 2:52 to 3:11. We need more stuff like this. The following section, i.e. 3:11 onwards, really shows that this Uematsu-stuff; quite reminiscent of FF.
  17. The first ~30 seconds have a distinct 90's electronica feel to them. The word I'd use to describe this remix would probably be "playful". The chiptunish sound of it, the variety of themes used; it all just works so well. Nice job.
  18. Very 80's-ish synth. Overall very oldschool. Good stuff. I had never heard of this game before the remixes were posted on OCR, but I have to say that I really like what Rayza and Tepid submitted. Nice work.
  19. Listened to it yesterday. Good stuff, especially the remix of pixietrick's song.
  20. Awesome production. The instrumentation, especially the synth, really make this one shine.
  21. Wonderful arrangement and perfect choice of instruments. Very reminiscent of racing game-music from the late 90's, particulary Ridge Racer Type 4 and X-treme G 2; I guess it's the piano and choice of synths. Awesome track, and if you haven't checked out the OSTs from the games I mentioned above, you should do so ASAP.
  22. As far as casual-friendly fighting games on the DC are concerned, I found Rival Schools 2/Project Justice to be very good for playing with "inexperienced" people.
  23. What is this pathetic excuse of a thread? More people need to listen to this and comment on it. Just like always, Mazedude manages to create an incredible atmosphere; downright evil in some places. What I found most interesting about this remix are some of the sounds he uses, since they remind me very much of 90's videogames, particularly the Ridge Racer series. Great stuff.
  24. Definitely a more interpretive arrangement of Wily's theme than the remix posted shortly before this one; especially the breakdown and following shredding stick out (in a positive way). I don't really like the sound of the guitar (except for 3:12 - 3:22), but that's personal preference.
  25. When I read djp's write-up, I was a little thrown off when he talked about "modern classics" as that seemed a bit over-the-top. But damn, he was right. This remix is incredible. I dunno whether it was Rayza's intention, but he managed to nail the 90's sound to a T. And that's what I thought before the vocal sample, which cranked the awesomeness to 11, came in at 2:25. Best OCR remix in quite a while? I do think so.
