  1. It was an awesome time, guys. Sorry, I was pretty distracted due to the constant updates I was getting of my brother's condition in the hospital (who was involved in a very bad collision in a softball game the night of the concert and had to go in for a fairly serious surgery that night.) On an up note it's looking like he's doing well in recovery. Anyway, here's a couple pics before I go get some rest tonight. In hallways of VGLive: Back row: Nekofrog's g/f, Nekofrog, dPaladin, Big Giant Circles, Audix, Audix's buddy, Tai_Zidek Front row: Sinewav, Tweek, ifirit After seeing Dark Knight: From left to right: ifirit, dPaladin, Audix's buddy, Sinewav, Big Giant Circles, Nekofrog, Nekofrog's g/f, Audix The entirely official Global Empire remix pic: From left to right: Tweek, Big Giant Circles, Audix Will post more later!
  2. $21? Ouch. I'd certainly be interested in cheaper rates.
  3. Pretty sure my buddy is going to be bringing his guitar. Like bgc said, I think we're going to get some 4 player Goldeneye/classic N64 action going, but nothing is stopping everyone else from jamming out. We'll probably be getting down there around 3:00 CST. Ifirit, will you be at the hotel around then to meet us and let us in?
  4. Thanks for the comments! Just finished up a "music video" of sorts of this track, featuring clips of me and Tweek playing parts on guitar and keyboard, Mario Kart shortcuts, and FL Studio playthrough footage. Check out the sweet powerslide up the ramp at 2:02. Did that on the first take.
  5. Knew it was just a matter of time before PR got something posted here. Great mix, going on my chill playlist.
  6. Quick preview of Norfair 2 (Magmoor Caverns in Prime) www.audixmusic.com/tracks/metroid.mp3
  7. I'm in, doing a trance mix of Norfair 2/Magmoor Caverns.
  8. Is there maybe a, um, happier soundtrack that could be done? Super Metroid's is kinda depressing as it is.
  9. The full version of Biohazard has the same problem, and I use Kaspersky. It's a false positive that they know about at Image-Line.
  10. Terrible news. Will be praying for Jordan. You'll pull through, man!
  11. Yep, Audix +1 will be going to the Dark Knight on IMAX. We'll be paying you in a lump sum payment for the hotel and IMAX tickets, ifirit. 12:45 showing sounds good.
  12. Well, what time is check-in at the hotel? We can just meet there and drop all our stuff off.
  13. Tweek and my Mario Kart "Day's End" mix.
  14. Games, cards, and music sounds like a cool way to chill afterwards and visit with you all. I think my buddy is bringing his guitar, and I may bring my laptop + keyboard, we'll see. Any of you guys play the card game euchre?
  15. Yeah, there was a very slight "hissing" that was noticeable in the 128kbps one (esp when Pavarotti goes way up). I imagine it would be harder to detect through speakers than through headphones.
  16. Oooook. So I got frustrated and started up Kaspersky to make sure the firewall was off. It was, still no success. On a whim I turned turned the firewall from inside Kasperky on (first time I've ever touched that setting) and lo and behold, I can now browse again. Whatever, I'm happy. Thanks to all of you who offered suggestions!
  17. This is plenty awesome. Good to see you still working on it.
  18. It seems to work. 4 packets sent and received, none lost. I guess I'll have to call up the ISP today, although I don't think that's the issue since all the other computers in the house work fine.
  19. It's weird cause' all the other computers in the house can access the internet, all connected to the same router that my desktop is. Mine's the only one that can't.
  20. I'm pretty sure this happened after Firefox did an automatic update. I can still log on with AIM and access my FTP site through Filezilla, but trying to browse with Firefox or IE gives me "Firefox/IE can't find the server at ____." I've got all firewalls and virus software off, and I looked through my router settings and nothing looks out of the ordinary. I restarted twice, no dice. I looked through network connections and it says that the connection is good with no problems. I have no idea what's wrong. Any ideas?
  21. Good stuff. The arrangement reminds me of Graeme Norgate's work. The bit near the end was cool, great drum work.
  22. For ambient pads, if you've already got leads or other arps taking up the soundscape, I bet you've at least got room in the 5k-10k range. Try filtering out some lows and mids and try to slightly boost the highs. If they sound too thin, you can always run a spectrum analyzer on your track and see what "empty" frequencies you have. Then cut the EQ on the pads in those ranges where your synths and melody line are, and boost where you need that extra fullness. As for the ideal settings, it really depends on the song. If I want an airy type of track that the listener can get "lost in," I'll use more reverb and delay, especially on the leads or blips. Too much reverb on ambient pads in any case is asking for mud, especially if you're not careful that you're filtering out the lows. If I want a track that sounds more "in your face," I'll use less reverb and delay in general. As for EQ, just make sure that your instruments aren't bleeding into each other. Put a spectrum analyzer on your master channel (Voxengo Span is great for that), and go to work.
