Not only how I used to do things changed but also how I see, approach and appreciate music has evolved. The learning process just keeps going. However one thing never changed; I write all my music. Before, I would normally then just "process" what I write into a small .mid but nowadays I just want to play the parts so that it's not quantized and this is recent since I would just randomize/humanize my stuff with the mouse before; don't want to do that anymore.

Keyswitching with Miroslav is a pain in the ass. For instance; I take the "Full Strings Comb" from Miroslav and I take the Flute-Keyswitching patch of the Reason library (in the Orchestra folder). Now, I simply unplug the first flute sampler and carefully route the 3 samplers of the Full Strings into the 1st channel of the 16 ins console. The 3 samplers are supposed to play together as "patch 1". So when I test the keyswitch, I expect to normally play the Full Strings and then keyswitch to get the flutes only; but the damn Full Strings keep playing. I can only get it to work with one sampler at the time, but for the Full Strings I need the 3 patches to play at the same time and damn, they're routed into the 1st channel and coming from a spider merger so wtf is the problem. Things like that make me want to get rid of Reason. I lose days and weeks because of shits like that. I love the synths in Reason so I kinda don't want to get rid of it at all but I think about selling it to get a real library. As complex as it may appear to others, I know I'd feel like a fish in the water with Vienna, and will, but for know all I can work with is Miroslav. I have a real album to put out. I'm pissed.

Haven't really played much last year but I played an old one and it was quite immerse; STALKER Shadows of Chernobyl with the "hi-res" mod.

I want Vienna for a number of reasons. I'd get the cube and be done with it but I'll take the package you linked Shaggy. However, I figure the price varies just like EastWest (it's at what, 50% some days in the year right ?). I basically embrace the idea of having no reverb then use impulses.

No, that was crystal clear with where I'm at actually. I know roman numbers and other things like I-IV-V is a major chord and whatnot. But I don't have a rich vocabulary. Now, I take it that "chord tone" refers to the attribute you give to the chord like 4th/7th/etc ? It actually makes sense now, thanks But terms like "tonicize" and "resolve this to that" confuse me a lot. I can read but not play at the same time. I decode slowly lol I'll have a look at that 4-part voice leading thing for sure

It doesn't sound like rocket science but any recommended place to start from scratch with those "chord functions" ? I already know intervals and what makes minor/major/7th chords.. but this looks way more interesting

You're seeing that a little too complicated. Signal goes "I" and then it'll go "Y". It remains mono but takes two paths... That small adapter does it I sold many of those when I was working at the guitar store.

I wouldn't order on Ebay tho.. given that's what you need you just ask for a "1/4 TS male to 1/8 TRS female" adapter in any average music store. It's like 3$ All the other configurations/sizes exist too.

Forget those. Axe FX 2. That's what the pros use. I personally like Reaper.

The new edit thing in Reason 7 is great, you don't need ReCycle anymore and you can just make loops on the fly with a tune, a no brainer.. ReCycle is a pain in the ass to work with. But those 2 are the only things I've tried for that matter.

There are a few options fro hi gain pick-ups with just one coil but I think you'd do yourself a favor if you bought a small decent guitar and swap the pick-ups for good, classic ones that you would find form EMG, DiMarzio & Seymour Duncan. I mean, that and the wood of the guitar really is where your signal gets its identity. So I'd say yes, you need a new one. But keep that jazz Master !

Change the pick-ups for good ones and there you go. Do you have singlecoils ? Strat pick-ups piss ass.

Dude you're a goldmine I'm a Reaper user. I got a tough one for you. Say you import a .mid file. You can set the output to Wavetable and then you'll be able to hear the default settings from the .MID you imported (it will remain panned as set in the external editor, play the same chosen instruments and whatnot...). But how can you change the pans/instruments after that ? say I compose a tune in Guitar Pro 5, export to .mid and import it in Reaper, set it just like you see in the picture below and I'll be able to hear the exact same thing I was hearing in Guitar Pro 5. In my example, it was a piano... and if I could just pan it differantly or change it for, say a harp, I would simply compose directly in Reaper.
