  1. Linux sucks for music, the kernell was not develloped for music applications. I bet you dual boot and have an installation of Windows. 7 ? And I'll add add to your "what would I gain?" question: support, a lot. Technical support and an immense pool of knowledge with the users community. It'll be easier for you to learn tricks in those well known software. I'd say go with FL cause it's like 99$ and Reason is not worth it until you get the normal version which is around 4-500$. I prefer the workflow in Reason because I got used to it but you need to ReWire in order to use VSTs and it's damn complicated when you're not used to it. It's got a soundbank with a lot of instruments (including orchestral) that are fine to make good sketches but for the price differance, you could buy some good VSTs and buy FL. I dunno man, all the roads lead to Rome anyways.. except Linux's.
  2. Stereo sum to mono is not mono as Left channel only mono.. I'd say that a mix should sound fine when checking the L+R sum tho, yes
  3. Don't fuck your mixes for the 2 or 3 people on Earth who don't got 2 speakers. (my opinion)
  4. I only have an iPod, and NanoStudio is very boring on it. Major fun with "Figure" http://www.propellerheads.se/products/figure/ <- They also made the ReBirth you mentioned. Promo vid: I made a lot of cool beats in the bus with it. It's fast, sounds great, nice tweaking, fun, etc. It doesn't try to be a DAW and that's what I like (and it's only 1$).
  5. Thanks for the recommendations guys. Yes Dusk, I was thinking about DD1 actually but there are just a few tunes, so all of those have to be remixed, and a few other tunes from the other games to fill what will be left. It's not like ALL the tunes from the other DD games were great. Meddleys very welcome.

  7. So far clothes, money and a Speyburn Highland single malt 10 years. Bought my gf a pair of Westone 1, that'll be a change from her pink SkullCandies.
  8. I sampled my farts yesterday so I really don't have a clue where it comes from.
  9. Remains fully functionnal technically is what I meant.
  10. Oh I don't really know exactly how much. I think back then, for the board/processor/ram, it was around 350-400$. I just need something fast enough to let me run a bunch of devices with a small buffer and minimal latency. At the moment I'm getting around 9ms but can't stack tracks. I'm sure something way below the i7 could work nowdays or perhaps an i5.
  11. It's ugly and I failed at making a panorama with 2 pictures but well, I made a workbench to setup guits and repair things.
  12. Yes well hardware compressors and EQs can be expensive. Even software.. I really want this piece of software and it's 80$ RE-2A which is an emulation of what the dude bought hardware: I really wonder how much is the hardware when the soft is 80$. I've seen compressors cost something like 30k in Steve Vai's studio.
  13. Who the fuck is GlaDOS ? Also, why do they still use fake robot voices when Microsoft Sam spoke better 10 years ago. That's one thing bugging me (also, computer noises in every damn tv program/movie). Trailer makes me want to see the movie. Yeahh.. thought of Evangelion while watching it
  14. Nah you just get an old fruity loop for 5$ and I'm not sure you got a pro-level studio dude post it in the post-your-studio thread please
  15. With 20k you get a drum, an amp, 3 guitars a bass and a few picks. And 1/100th of that price is 600$, so i don't see how most people couldn't afford that if they are into music. That's the price of a cymbal. Building the place in your backyard is a few thousands not counting the acoustic treatment. When you invest you probably gonna buy good DAW with a console and a few expensive plugings for a few thousands + the computer; you're probably at 30k here. Throw a Neuman in there and some speakers and you don't even have any hardware yet beside one amp and a few instruments. Well it's how I see it..
  16. Learned how to construct chords. Learned a lot of EE things, fuck Italian, well fuck me being polite I'll try next year but I'm better, I lost something like 15 pouds and enough to be under 200 for the first time in 4 years, did learn and program new things, still have a hard time with the fridge but definatly eat less fast food if we exclude subway, still shit on guit and production but understand new things and have new goals, started recording my 4-to-7 yrs old metal demo and wrote down some new ideas for an acoustic project, didn't work for anything OCRish except that Megaman contest, reduced sugar a lot and alcohol a lot, did the mario video. Oh and well still can't play drums.
  17. Dude you're crazy. Excellent album, bought it on bandcamp and will pass the word.
  18. sweetest amp I've experienced lately was the Jazz Chorus - I'm late in the train but wow for clean
