  1. Engliht us because rally, I don't know how to build a momentum for my album release by the end of the year. I have 100 freinds on FB and 100 fans (25% are friends already in my personnal FB). lol it's pretty much hopeless but the product will definetly be beyond average IMO (no pretention/years of work). I made 10$ with some kind of kickstarter (gofundme) and I'm sure I'll make about the same amount when the LP will be out. At least, I do it for me 1st, which is an awesome yet painful experience haha.
  2. Really wondering if the new tendency is to get a cash with kickstarters. Say someone is already fully equiped and can mix the album and get funded for 10k$. Prints a few physical copies, sell most of the albums via download and pay a few hundred bucks for mastering. It's a pretty neat cash in your pockets after.. But I hope it's still worth it with a normal release. Hard work leads to success they say. I tend to think labels are something to be avoided but for now it's just my intuition.
  3. 32/4 = 8 bars as we count 8 beats per bar. It's a standard 4/4 (16 pulses) song section played twice. That is if you're counting the 1/4ths of a beat, but when training I'm pretty sure you're counting in 1/8ths, so that would be a single 4/4 section (4 bars). Dunno if it helps.. Edit: I'm pretty sure you don't count in 1/8ths at ± 140 BPm after thinking about it. You certainly count 8 bars.
  4. This is sick, the guy wins by 0.4 second : 4-player Super Metroid race www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU0fEc2PeSI Any other cool speedrun like this ?
  5. Hey thanks for the explaination ! One note per section to form chords with other sections if something I've overlooked. I did think about it, but I often just copy/pasted/transposed in octave chords to other sections. I did it with single notes and separated sections to form chords but I did not know that it was a standard (most of the time). It's very good to know ! I'm really curious about the divisi patches. As I said, I only have Miroslav for now. Finally, must I understand that you record a performance for each section and that for 16 violins, you have a single performance but a 16-violin patch ?
  6. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean with the "V1" thing and your 15 tracks for articulation. lol You have V1, which contains 16 violins, and use 15 articulations for each ? 16 * 15 = 240 tracks for the violins. So, with all the sections : 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, each * 15 = (16*15)+(14*15)+(12*15)+(10*15)+(8*15) = 240+210+180+150+120 = 900 tracks I do not think that was what you meant. Would that be 15 patches ? Let's separate the instruments from the articulation one moment : You need 16 violins, do you load 16 patches ? Because I figure you probably want to pan them with a little diferance.
  7. I've seen a few résumés and it's awful how many people just ignore typos and/or simply won't correct a word at all. My résumé contains colors, it's not just black/white. Should be like the Skittles rainbow but a few things can stand out. Anyway, here how it looks like.. readable under 15 seconds :
  8. Well dunno if it counts but stereo impulses is probably a binaural experience. Only applies to reverbs tho.. I like the idea of feeling "more there"
  9. I don't have many but Limbo and Trials Evolution are pretty cool IMO There's one I played for like 3 minutes that looked cool, I bought it but haven't replayed yet.. it's an RPG parody.. I'll get you the title later.
  10. You guys amaze and inspire me Given that all I'll do is one little prologue with strings and the rest will just support a metal album, I'll arrange stuff real basic. I don't think it calls for a very symphonickess approach but I'll still have to take care of what I'll do You can hear the strings before the merging in the first 5 minutes of this video if you're curious, but I don't have the updated version discussed in the OP yet : www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-58r4GXIXM Note that this isn't humanized and anything but it'll show the kind of tune/theme involved. I'll be using Miroslav. EWQL will be added to my tools one day but probably not this year, so I'll have to either do it with Miro or send it to someone once eveything will be prepared (arrangement/humanisation/mix).
  11. That's the approach I wanted to have at first but I don't compose instrument per instrument when it comes to strings. I see them like chords on a guitar with an optional additional melody (solo violins). I'm more and more leaning toward the use a midi keyboard, I love the unquantized effect and control and all, but those old files are chords from Guitar Pro where I had like drums/guits/bass/keys and then maybe a patch of Strings Ens1 and another one of Strings Ens 2 + a violin. I decided to combine Strings Ens1 and 2 because they were essentially playing the same thing minus a few differance. So would you have like 25 violins, 25 violas, 25 cellos, 25 contrabasses for a total of 100 tracks for chords ? (I'm exagerating the numbers here.. I didn't check to see how many of each is needed). But anyway, my computer would die even in the afterlife with that many tracks
  12. So I had this project with like a violin/viola/cello/ensemble1/ensemble2/ with like pizz/stac/short and long bow patches and maybe another one with a "full ensemble patch". The main thing consisted of chords and a melody so I took everything and combined them into a single track, then cut the melody out and pasted it in it's own track and did the same with the pizzocato parts. I end up with 3 tracks (will maybe have 4) : Chords (Full Sections patches) Melody (23 violins patch) always made with single notes, no harmonies/chords in there Pizz (pizz patch) The fourth will probably be a Short Bow patch of some sort. Now I need to know if worker this way will work with something like EWQL or do I really have to go anal about it and have a patch for each instruments in the "chords" track with every articulation on a separate track or do you really just go with a good patch and keyswitches if needed ? I saved a lot of CPU power which I really needed Anyway, searched the other threads regarding strings and people were focusing on humanization and whatnot but that's not my concern here. It's all composed in an editor but I intent to go back and play the part on my midi piano once evertying is clean/mixed.
  13. You have no idea how much I owe you. I spent hours googling because manual routing was not working correctly. The simple "Build 16 channels of midi to this track" click was what I needed. The track manager tip is top notch too.
  14. Must be sad to feel formatted into imaginary laws.
  15. Shazam ? Thanks for the title edit: what a cheesy video. ;/ She looks like that dirty girl in Game of Thrones tho
  16. You're my only hope... What's this song ? Sounds like Mega Man X at some points lol therefor I need to know. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19040508/IMG_1160.MOV
  17. Propellerhead just released "Synchronous" and is available free for all Reason 7.1 / Essentials 2.1 users until June 30th 2014. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImKkQoKzhvE
  18. Well that's crazy. They do say it's a limited time, however I don't know how often it comes in sale... Anyway : SampleTank 2 = 149.99 $ SampleMoog = 99.99 $ Miroslav Philharmonik = 149.99 $ Sonik Synth 2 = 99.99 $ SampleTron = 99.99 $ Xpansion Tank 2 = 29.99 $ That's 630 $USD when bought one by one. Got the bundle for 99$ instead of 300$ like it is on amazon which I suspect is the usual price on IKMultimedia. It's not EWQL yet, but at least I won't have to use Miroslav in Reason I hope the Sonik Synth 2 is worth it too
  19. Is this 99$ thign a good deal ? http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/totalworkstationxl/ I don't understand why they sell 500$ worth of stuff for 100$ when Miroslav alone is still 150$ on hteir website. It's it's legit, I'll buy it right now.
  20. Thanks for the replies. Part of it is to enhance some metal orchestration but I really wanna give a go to real orchestration without any guitar/drum implied hehe. I have some fun with Miroslav but it is extremly lacking in term of articulation. I'm actually glad that Quantum Leap comes with natural reverb, it probably blends perfectly. When should I expect a deal and how much.. black friday..summer sale ?
  21. Holy fucking shit man. Thatis totally treatable IMO and probably a BIG advantage. I'd totally set a big drums kit there and exploit this type of construction. You'll have you're own sound. You'll treat the key places and profit the awesome wooden room. You could try to contact Auralex for their input (and it's free). They'll send you a suggestion of what to buy and where to place their stuff.
