  1. Compression and limiting is the main trick to loudness. What kind of ratios are you using in your compression. When you say everything is near clipping level, does it ever reach it? If you look at the majority of modern music it will be really pushing a limiter. Open up something you think is loud and look at its waveform, then look at yours. It will probably be block of colour in comparison. Give it a go and show us what you see. (For the record there's nothing wrong with quiet mixing, it's just not ever going to be suitable for radio-play or commercial use as they expect volume.)
  2. As fun as that topic is; let's talk about much more important things like the fact we have 3 WAVs already in the project folder, and several more tracks nearly finished. Stevo: I've been trying to find some piano/orchestral specialists but with little luck so far. Here's hoping. If you have any ideas about people to ask - that is something you can certainly suggest and I'll see if I can convince 'em. If there's one thing I do want to hear it's who the listeners would like to hear more of.
  3. I don't want to seem hand in the face or anything but seriously; you keep bringing it up in the thread to the point where it seems you're trying to wear me down about it. I'm not gonna change my mind. I appreciate that you just want to contribute, but surely it makes sense to respect the work of the musicians by at least letting them name their own work? Every other project was named either by its directors or its members, because its fair to them. Anyway this topic is just beating a dead horse now. Please don't bring it up again, I've explained my decision several times. EDIT: Well the problem was you keep bringing it up - if there's no problem stop complaining .
  4. I made the thread private for a reason :/. I don't see what the problem is; what's wrong with letting the musicians name their work?
  5. Britney Spears is a bit like this, there are similar videos of her amazing voice back in the day. Unfortunately, they all realize that money ain't necessarily equal to musicianship.
  6. Oh sorry kate, I didn't think you ever looked on the forums, I'll ask the mods to give you permission today. Have you got any tracks you can show me to audition? I can't let you officially claim it until then.
  7. My final battle track is now 6 minutes long and I haven't even got to the main solos.
  8. It was totally an intended teaser. I never insinuated anything but this.
  9. Kate totally released her track as a teaser, honest. Enjoy the lovely lossless wav version on release day.
  10. No idea, never used it.

  11. Jovette wins the WAV race. Don't forget yo wip dates guys.
  12. lol, AD isn't wonky at all. The trick to AD is just don't use their effects. Multi-out and use good ones. Their compressor is especially shit, and all the presets are massively over-compressed.

  13. Well if it's a good algorithm it'll be based on them I would hope. Essentially though it's like forcing 3D on a movie to me. If I sound bitter it's because I am - had to do a presentation and paper on this stuff.
  14. Addictive Drums - XNL or XLN I forget which. Getting a bit bored of it recently, but the velocity layering is so responsive.

  15. There's a difference between simulated 5.1 algorithms and abusing straight to binarual recording with a dummy or using head-related-transfer-functions of which that demo is one of the latter two. Simulated 5.1 is okay, but no where near as convincing as that demo - though you've probably noticed that already.

Hah, who told you that? Well, I've got exams in 3 weeks or so and enough deadlines to meet; I don't have time to do anything for anyone at the moment. Sorry, but best of luck dude.

  17. Mom is not a musical person sadly. My Dad was a drummer in a Dublin new-wave punk band back in the day. I dunno if he could rescue the president, but he's a solid drummer fo sho. He knows of OCR and listens to crap I show him but he's not that bummed. I'm sure I could convince him to play some drums but he's not very prog.
  18. My friend told me about it and told me I should show my music here, so I did. Oddly he's not interested in the site at all these days, I'm the one forcing him to get stuff now.
  19. Do you have my wav Damned? I sent it ages ago I'm sure. Also I will try and get the andyjayne track in - I honestly enjoy it - but exams start may 26th here, so I really can't promise.
  20. I got a pretty much finished WIP in my inbox t'other day. All I can say is kate delivers.
  21. Warning: Famitracker is not simple at all. Why would you recommend famitracker when any synth can produce a simple waveform? It's not even vst.
  22. The original pokemon games for gameboy are just the most basic waveforms - any synth should be able to make these very easily. They use only basic square waves, triangle waves and white noise. The sounds of the pokemon are samples; I'm sure there's library of pokemon sounds online somewhere. Google. Sonic (and all genesis) games use FM (frequency modulation) synths which can be a bit intimidating at first. Do you have any FM synths? I've never looked for free ones cause logic came with one, anyone else know the good ones?
  23. Therefore the consumption of pain-relieving medication or general/local anethestic is advised.
