  1. I don't like it = subjective, well done you expressed your opinion without offending anyone IT IS BAD = objective, this probably isn't what you actually meant to say unless you are incredibly presumptuous about your ability to state facts about a perceptive art, please try again
  2. 13 WIPs and 2 pretty much finished tracks. Progress, we has it.
  3. If I did it wasn't intentional, but Anxious Hearts is my all time favourite vgmusic. Not as an individual piece of music, but for how it fits into the game.
  4. Just cause I didn't even know this would be posted here's my "write-up" notes: I purposefully chose this track to get away from rock for a bit, spread my wings. The intro was, as Dave rightly guessed, inspired by Breathe by the one and only Pink Floyd. The guitar really was the afterthought of the mix, I was focusing on the synths and the interactions between the piano, harp, strings and pads, especially the extremely reverberant drums which I enjoy. The strings and piano parts were mostly inspired by Muse <3. This was my aim, and I'm really glad people enjoy this as I don't know what to think of it really - it's a departure for sure. Expect more unexpected genres and of course more unapologetic DT ripoffs.
  5. Distortions of any kind. Something that was not the original signal. Unless you have an identical copy of the exact noise that you're trying to remove so it can be phase inverted and added it to the signal (which is not possible to have in a real time application), this will inevitably go wrong slightly and affect the signal too. How would that pedal know exactly what parts of the incoming signal are noise and magically remove them leaving your guitar unharmed? It can't. Simply put it is not a noise remover, it is a noise gate - different thing entirely.
  6. Awesome. I have no idea without looking at the setup closely then. Like I said, my Spider II's noise gate threshold was high enough that only bad interference and single coil's ever got anything at all out it. I assume they still have at least a similar one in the IV? EDIT: Just watched that video. It is impossible to remove noise from a signal without artifacts. The trick is making the artifacts un-correlated to the signal so they are as unnoticeable as possible. They will always be there in some form. The fact that they claim effective noise reduction of up to 60dB is absolutely ludicrous. Dolby SR noise reduction (the most advanced kind there is for recording) gets you around 15-20dB. That pedal however is probably just a noise gate, the single dial setting the threshold. Sounds like it anyway - you can tell because as the note dies out the noise becomes audible for a little bit. Noise gate's don't really create artifacts, they just change the volume. It does the job, they're just lying by calling it noise reduction.
  7. Noise reduction produces crappy artifacts, always has always will. If your amp is anything like my Spider 2 it should have a noise gate, so you must have some mega serious hum. What pickups/guitar do you have? I'm gonna guess its some strat type thing with awful single coil pickups, cause that's the only thing that ever made my spider hum.
  8. Aeris: This guy are sick. That's the only one I can think of - there are a lot of weird sentences in it, I can't think of many "wrong" ones.

  10. If you don't have one at least one sample at- 0dBFS then you're not mastering properly. If it's not affecting your mix and you're sure about that, as loud as possible really.
  11. haha, larry picking battles on the internet and then getting other people to fight them.
  12. 9 is definitely his favourite - he's said it in multiple interviews. You only need to look at the size of the damn thing to tell that he was enjoying himself a lot. There's a whole disc more then any other FF ost.
  13. Go for it. Trying to get forum access for everyone atm.
  14. Haaaaaahahaha, they spent THAT much on Too Human? They could have spent all that money on hundreds of mini-motorbikes and had a massive race and filmed it - that might've been more entertaining.
  15. I said I wanted this in jchat last week . If it's not gone yet hit me up.
  16. I think she is avenging me because I was defeated by the inbox - true story. Congrats :3.
  17. For some genres high volume is practically a necessity these days otherwise it doesn't punch you in the face the way some music is intended to (even though I agree its kinda silly and over-compressing usually takes the punch away). Also seeing as the majority of music that is submitted is by amateur/hobbyist musicians we can't expect everyone to be well versed in the issue and people only have commercial music as a loudness and mixing reference. In short, it's a lovely idea that I'd support if it was anywhere near feasible without causing a major fuss. We're always gonna be the minority on the issue for now anyway.
  18. Well probably a bit early to be thinking about websites but it might be nice to get that sorted early. Send me a pm with some of your work in it and I might take you up on it when it gets closer to time.
  19. Stuff from AMVs that aren't included officially on the OST but were in the game.
  20. Awesome, done. In other news, VHD has sadly dropped due to time issues. In other other news, the lovely katethegreat19 joined up! Really looking forward to hearing that track.
  21. It was written on the first page originally. I'm really not sure if "no rap" is something I can support. "No bad rap" is fair enough, and there's very few people who try it seriously around here anyway.
