  1. Leave it to CHIPP Damage to be the unwarranted optimist: If it weren't guys like Carefree, OCR might not be as tightly-knit a community as it is. Hahaha. Thanks, Carefree. And Thanks to that Mexican guy too. Hahaha.
  2. Unfortunately, the link doesn't work for me. So I can't join in on all the love-spreading (someone once told me that ridiculing someone is how OCR people show affection). HAHAHAHAAAAA! Anyway, I hope it's really just Darkesword trying to trick us all because that would be funny as heck. If not, then, Carefree, don't plagiarize. It's not cool on almost every level.
  3. YES! The in-game sound effects intro is type! Not familiar with this source, but I remember hearing a handful of F-Zero songs and all of them were rock tunes. Assuming this source was too, this is a great idea for a genre change. Making the target genre totally different from the source's original genre is definitely a plus. I'm terribly familiar with this genre of music either, but I can say that I like the horn action the most. The fading out horns at the end was interesting. The echoy drums throughout are groovy too.
  4. You wouldn't happen to have a recording of an armcannon song for us to sample would you? Thanks, SotSS. I hope so too. I better submit this mofo now. Hahaha.
  5. I too am very interested in this and would love to compose for you if you'd have me. I know plenty about hip hop as well as metal. Here's a variety of stuff that I've made. If you wish to use any of them, just tell me what you want. Otherwise, I'd be happy to make brand new, more custom-made stuff for you. Some songs have lyrics, I can supply vocal-less versions of most. Metal http://chipp_damage.sitesled.com/Music/01%20Revenge.wma Orchestral Hip Hop http://chipp_damage.sitesled.com/Music/SnakeOverMP3.mp3 http://chipp_damage.sitesled.com/Music/Hear%20My%20Call%20MP3.mp3 Orchestral Jazz (?) http://chipp_damage.sitesled.com/Music/An%20Empty%20Shell.mp3 And my OC remix which just happens to be a Guilty Gear Orchestral remix http://djpretzel.web.aplus.net/songs/Guilty_Gear_X2_Destroy_Movements_OC_ReMix.mp3
  6. A very recognizable slow version of the melody at the beginning. I like the sitar sound way in the back with the drums on top of it afterwards. The electric guitar addition was nice. It gets real guitar heavy with a somewhat dark sounding solo at 1:40 which is cool, but man, I'm having a hard time finding the melodies of the originals in this song during all the parts besides the ones that start from 0:17 and 0:57. Am I missing them or are that clean part and the dark solo at the both original additions? I really like the overall feeling and the whole "divided into easily understandable parts" arrangement system used in this mix. I think this is one of those mixes that is hard to label with a genre name, which works in it's favor. I would like to have heard some arranging of the "less than main" melodies of this song (assuming I haven't just missed them.) Pretty good job in my unprofessional opinion.
  7. Dude, your strategy worked BEAUTIFULLY! I just downloaded it and instantly I was able to access the site again. No adjusting of settings required! I LOVE YOU! Thanks a lot.
  8. Well, whether or not it makes the cut is still to be determined, but I've got a song that is purely melodic death metal ready for submission, complete with brutal death vocals . If it DOES make it, it may possibly be classified as the most brutal piece on the site. Maybe... I haven't heard ALL of them so I could be wrong. If I finish my translation work quickly enough, I'll submit it tonight. Assuming that it passes, it ought satisfy quite a bit of metal thirst in the community.
  9. I don't know why, but it takes 2 minutes to load every page in OCR. Does anyone have any ideas? I REALLY want to start reviewing for Christmas, among other things. It always gets stuck at "transferring data from www.google-analytics.com." Any help is greatly appreciated. I just noticed also, that the menu bar on the left side loads right away, but the rest of it takes forever. It's taken me forever just waiting to get to this "post a new thread" screen and then when I hit the submit button, it's gonna take forever again. Here goes.

  11. I don't know why it's taking two minutes to load any OCR page right now. Not that it's really any of my business, but unless you're still playing those games I would say, why don't you just give them to him. Just a thought.
  12. "Game Informer don't even score in stars. They gave it a 7/10." Now THAT is funny. Hahhaa!! Like the prophet of mephisto said, can't they get into legal trouble for that?
  13. Sorry to move backwards, but according to the Global Peace Index (I think that's what it was called), Norway is the most peaceful country in the entire world in 2007. Not bad at all! Of course, that doesn't include suicide or mental problems, though.
  14. This is a wonderful idea. One a day? I'm on it. Thanks for the list of review threads in order of amount of reviews! Nothing like going back to remember just how lucky we are that we have all these great remixes in the first place.
  15. I, personally am a big fan of Judo. I don't practice it but I love to watch it. It's just a huge struggle between to people just to get ONE perfect throw to the ground. I'd feel pretty cool if I could best ever enemy I ever met like that.
  16. Way to keep it on topic. hahaha. I personally don't get much out of GO!GO!7188 but I DID happen to notice their signature hanging on a wall in an izakaya when I lived in Okinawa. I felt cool. haaha.
  17. Yeah, that sounds scary to me. Is it even a good idea to use that stuff against belligerent drunks? Hahaha.
  18. Are you thinking of going all the way up to level 4, Kai?
  19. That's an interesting take on it. I think SotSS nailed it when he said that it depends on what constitutes a song to be considered a different genre. I found myself thinking about Dimmu Borgir when pondering this topic. They've got tons of orchestral parts in their songs sometimes but they aren't referred to as Symphonic, but Black Metal (right?). But I don't see why we would argue that something being symphonic doesn't make it another sub-genre. Since the word genre is just a fancy word for classification. Simply adding "Symphonic" to something or completely changing the genre are both just acts of classifying. So we might as well just consider Black Metal and Symphonic Black Metal as two different things. Of course, there's always the degree of orchestra used in the song to consider. GOD I hate dealing with genres. hahaha.
  20. Happy Birthday Orichalcon. Your avatar has always been my favorite amongst the judges.
  21. But you're level 2! That sounds really cool man. I don't know the details of those martial arts that you named, but since GFT is a combination of all them, it sounds like you can kick some ass. Hahaha. Have you ever had to use it outside of military situations? Just curious.
  22. Upon hearing this, I've decided that Fray is a god amongst humans who is definitely going to be one of Odin's favorite Einherjar when he dies. Thanks for this SWEET ass mix man! Let's do it! I'll submit it this weekend.
  23. Hey hey everybody, come on now. Let's not n00b hate here. . . . . . . HAAAAAAAHAHAHAAAAA! That was funny to me, at least.
  24. Oh sorry, Coop. I guess I was being TOO concise. I didn't mean that I disagree with something that you said. I disagree with the dude getting fired. That's all.
  25. A more basic version of Zircon's technique: If you feel like you can't seem to make a good drum beat with your hands and feet simply because it's difficult, you can try this really basic way. Just use one hand for the bass drum and the other for the snare drum and tap them on two different items so you can somewhat emulate the sound and create just a simple bass and snare beat. Since those are basically the most used drums in the set you'd be surprised at how well it works. Once you get the fingers which are tapping the bass drum parts used to this kind of thing, you'll see that you can basically make almost any beat you can think of. But of course it won't be a complete beat with just a bass and snare, so input what you tapped out into your sequencing program and then add a high hat to it. Just make the high hat play quarter notes. Then later you can add decorations like toms and cymbals and stuff. The only thing is, your drum beats will get stuck in your head for real!
