  1. Come to think of it, even I don't know how you could understand what the singer said. . . And I'M the one who sang it. Hahaha! Thanks a lot guys. Fray, I like your idea about talking about the progress. Legion won't be able to join that conversation until after this weekend, cause he's got lots of work, unfortunately. As for the "out of tune guitars" I think it's just because I reversed the harmony. The original harmonies were much farther apart and I took the lower harmony and upped it 1 octave. Which means that big intervals like 7ths become as close as 2nds. I wonder if anyone knows what the hell I'm talking about right now. Hahaha! Other than that, I think they sound good. OR . . . Maybe you're just CRAZY! AAAHAHAHAAAA! Fray, I don't know how you figured out what the heck I was saying but kudos to you. Tensei claims that he can understand death vocals too, but I totally don't believe him because he's from the Netherlands and that's reason enough. Hahaha!!!! Just kidding. Anyway, here are the lyrics. Jun, sharpen the katanas. Suo, bring the armor. Shiho, sing your song of courage. Yumei, raise the lapis high. The war of 9 worlds has begun and we are outnumbered 10 to 1. Nanami takes the odds and evens them. Tenchu raining down from heaven! Ragnarok is unleashed across these worlds I choose to fight in Hai-lan. Battle screams sound faster than Heimdal's horn when an arrow hits my shield. A cloud of Weeping Lilly pollen is unleashed. I fall to my knees but there is no valkyrie. I must journey across the rainbow bridge alone. Skuld! Where are the Einherjar? This is Ragnarok. Even the dead can't rest. You have been chosen by Odin to turn the tide of Ragnarok. Your deeds on Midgard are known to us. A warrior of legend to the Einherjar. You must fight for the All-Father or the Yggdrasil will fall to the flames of Nifleheim So take the Bahamut's Tear. And take the Shining Bolt. To take your army to Valhall use the Swan Maiden's Cloak. And fight like you are Aesir! I thrust my sword through Surtur, piercing his heart of flame. And as I am engulfed in his fire I see the shining blue armor descend. Hope it makes you all laugh. Now I wanna go listen to what Fray and Sixto have been doing.
  2. Holy crap?! Another Soundscape just made this the coolest thread ever!!! Hahahaa! Damn, I wish I looked as cool as that guy.
  3. After that great poem by big giant circles in the "I have 0 remixes to judge" thread. I think it's time for this thread to get some more love. Anybody got the courage to post something NICE? I'm gonna post a giant smiley face now. ^_____________________________________________________________________________^
  4. So, is this good news or bad news? If there are 7 judges, and only one of them has finished judging all of their mixes, doesn't that mean that only 1/7th of the work is done? I RAIN ON YOUR PARTY! MWAAHAHAAAAAAAA!
  5. Well, Nacho. I think I can give a bit of advice since you just want to hear about the arrangement. I think this arrangement is PRETTY good. But in my personal opinion, this song seems too repetitive to be 5:21. Let me start from the beginning though. I liked the way you made the intro really long and drawn out. I was thinking that when the melody would finally come in, that it would be something with a lot of impact though. But it just kind of got added in like it wasn't any more important than any other part of the texture. Maybe other people will like it, but I kinda wanted something bigger. After the distorted guitars hit that final chord at 1:12, I can't see any good reason to get all soft again since that soft thing is basically the same thing as the opening part with a different bass rhythm added in later. It just starts feeling repetitive from this point. Then it continues on and gets heavier with the distorted guitars again and then the main melody comes in and it seems like a sweet progression. I think you could have just cut everything up to 1:12 and just started with this progression. Hearing this nice progression after all that build up before it which has no real climax just seemed kind of repetitive to me. But then again, pop music is repetitive too, and those people make tons of money so, maybe I'm just crazy. Ok, then a repeat of all that starting at 2:03? Not needed. Then from 3:28 you've got just the rhythm thing going on which really reminds me of something from Pink Floyd. Hahaha. I don't know, maybe this is a style of writing that I just don't get, but that rhythm part doesn't feel like anything different from all the rest of the song. Maybe a guitar solo would make it feel better. It's hard for me to say what exactly this needs to not sound so repetitive, but I definitely think you could either delete the entire first 1:12 and start the song from there, or not go to the part that starts at 1:12 until much later in the song and put some kind of climax involving the melody at 1:12 since you've built up to that point in such a good way. I like the idea you've got here. Especially playing the melody on your bass, is cool to me. Have you ever listened to Ailsean's "Terra in Black" from this site? It's a good example of how the song doesn't need to change up the melody or the key of the song to still sound fresh all the way through. One thing Ailsean does in that song is on the big repeat of the main melody, he adds in another guitar to play some harmony phrases. I thought that was a good idea. I recommend checking it out. Good luck man.
  6. Yeah, it needs something to fill up space. Maybe some sustained chords in the background? I personally think it would sound freaking cool if you used a bunch more different instruments coming in with that phrase even more and more. You know you've got a horn of here chiming in and then a horn over there chiming in, I'd like to hear that with more instruments chiming in more often. But that's just me.
  7. Is November 18th a fair enough deadline for you guys? I don't know how much people usually spend on this kind of thing. I know I spent 3 months just to make it sound below average. Hahaha. Until people start complaining, that's the date I'd like to go with. So please send me a link or through email by. . . NOVEMBER 18TH.
  8. Oh, jeez, man. How am I supposed to know you're being sarcastic when you use THAT tone of voice, huh? Hahaha.
  9. Oh come on you guys. EVERYONE knows that Zoltan is the greatest guitarist EVER!
  10. Well, if it was from the arcade, then I guess you CAN submit it. Not bad. I still strongly recommend changing this mofo up a lot. I agree with the losing the fuzzy voice. I also think that maybe having a part where the key changes could do a world of good for this remix. But yeah, I do like this.
  11. Yeah, I freaking like this one too. As for sound effects, Like OA, I too have never been big on them, but Xaleph blew me away with his sweet choices when I heard Suffering Planet. KICK ASS! This is one the few electronica pieces that I really like. Thank you!
  12. I don't why I can't get my stuff on the FTP anymore, so if you want the midi of the drums and bass, just PM me your email address, please. Thank you.
  13. Alright! A warm welcome for Fishy! He's our 5th and newest contestant. Thank you for coming. I can't wait to hear the various production styles of you guys. More than one person has asked me about the drums and bass, and they in fact ARE from midi, so I'm trying to get the midis of those on the FTP site in case you want to tamper with them.
  14. What the heck makes Cursed Bloodline a happy song? In contrast, I'd say that Juese Belmont is a very happy song, but my all time fave at the moment is "This Feeling," the remix from Phoenix Wright that OA made. All I wanna do is run along side a nice river in semi-slow motion when I hear that song.
  15. Hey guys, I'm gonna be out of town just for one day and one night. Legion, could you PM me your email address? I looked all over your profile page but couldn't find it. See you guys again soon. Suzumebachi, could you give me a confirmation of your participation, haven't heard anything from you since your original post.
  16. This is a thread for me! I've got plenty of opinion and stories about this topic but since I'm not insane like friendlyhunter () I'll just start off with one little story. And that is the story of . . . STAR OCEAN 3 4D MODE! OH MY GOD! Has anyone in this community done it? It's a whole new world of pain. Especially in the beginning because you can't get cheesy and make ridiculously powerful weapons. It's nuts because they've basically made it WAY harder on ALL fronts. Let me break it down for those who don't know. DEFENSE First off most enemies' HP and MP are tripled which means the amount of hits to kill them could be tripled. Secondly, the defense stat is increased, which means that it takes EVEN MORE HITS to kill them because you're doing less damage. Finally, and this is the real killer, their agility stat is ALSO increased so high that at the beginning of the game 75% of your attacks will be blocked by the enemy, which means that you basically MUST hit them from behind if you want to land a blow. OFFENSE Attack stat is increased meaning they hurt you more. Fair enough. But wait, the AI is also crazier so that they attack more and do EXTREMELY LONG AND SOMETIMES ENDLESS, UNSTOPPABLE STUN-LOCKING COMBOS UNTIL YOU DIE, and this is no joke! This constitutes FIVE areas of increased difficulty. I managed to finish the game and beat all of the optional bosses except the strongest one because I LOVE Star Ocean 3, but to be perfectly honest, there were SO many hours of that game where I wasn't even having much fun. The battle in the beginning of the game will have you stun-locked and comboed till death if even ONE hit is incurred. All of the inescapable battles in the beginning, like the robots in the escape route of the Hotel on Hyda, and the battle with the interrogator and his two guards in Airyglyph could very well force you to continue more than 50 times. I think out of all of those difficulty increases, if they had left out the stun-locking and not tripled the HP and MP it would still be fun as heck and freaking challenging. Even after saying all that though, it's still one of my all-time favorite RPGs. And Zircon, since Eternal Sonata is by Tri-Ace, I can't imagine it not having a brutally hard mode similar to the one in Star Ocean 3. I haven't played Radiata Stories yet, but all the other Tri-Ace games had it, so I don't see why this one wouldn't either. Let's hope for the best.
  17. Are you planning to submit this remix to Overclocked ReMix? If you are then my next question will become extremely relevant. Is the song "They Call me Sonic" featured in any Sonic the Hedgehog GAMES? Cause it kind of seems like it's random fan-made song or maybe from the cartoon series. If that's the case, you won't be able to submit it. Sorry man. All that aside, if you ARE able to submit this, there are two basic overall qualities that the judges will look at. Those are the arrangement and the production. One thing that the judges look for is an "interpretation" of the song. In other words you need to take either the melody, harmony, instruments, tempo, or any combination of these things and change them in a way that they sound different yet can still be tied to the original version. This "interpretation" aspect of remixes gets considered as part of the arrangement. Your remix is ALMOST EXACTLY the same as the original and therefore the judges would definitely give you a line like, "There is no arrangement to speak of," and thus wouldn't be able to pass. I suck at production myself, so I can't give you any tips about that. But as you said the vocals are fuzzy. But I do like your idea of making the vocals doubled like that.
  18. Wow. Do I really deserve all these props? Thank you. OK! I finally finished taking care of EVERYTHING. ALL the information that the participants, or those who want to become participants, need is in the very first post. So go check it out, and download my 200Megs of WAV. files (Thank you Legion) and have at it. I hope a couple more people join this. Assuming everyone who initially said that they'd like to do it confirms their participation, we've got: Legion303 Sixto Fray Suzumebachi Thanks guys. You're the best. I can't wait to hear how cool you make this song.
  19. WHOA! This is nuts! Like Tensei said, I am flipping. Thank you, so much everyone. I didn't think there'd be so many people who'd wanna work with little ol' CHIPP Damage. Well, Legion was the first person to respond and I gave him first dibs because of that, but if he says that doesn't mind letting it be a competition then I know what I must do. Maybe I'll see if I can change the title of the thread. So anyone who wants to produce this thing, is welcome to try and in the end I'll choose the one I like the best for submission. Later I'll put all my "production requests" in the first post. So everyone, just tell me how you want me to get the files to you and I'll do it. If it's FTP business, you'll have to give me step by step directions, cause I don't know how. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND THANK YOU SO MUCH! Feel free to contact me. MSN = chaahan@hotmail.com AIM = Enta no Kamisama
  20. Is this one of those moments where I should say, "This reminds me of Unmod?"
  21. Holy crap! Sixto?! The dude with the prettiest guitar sound ever wants to produce MY Viking Death Metal song? Nuts! Thank you. I don't know what to do. Of course, if you want the music sent your way to play with, I'd send it to you but since Steve replied first, it's only fair that I let him have first dibs. But I'd LOVE to hear what you'd do with it even if it WASN'T going to be submitted to OCR. Would you like to receive it? And if so, how would you like to receive it? (That sounds kinda funny.)
  22. I learned how to play, but I still can't tell you what the best order of things to do is. But the most common way that it happens out here in Japan is that after they've plucked around on a guitar a bit and gotten a feel for it, they start learning their favorite songs on it. I did that just a bit too. I recommend it. Of course, once you HAVE learned some chords, you can play some boring ass songs like The Beatles or Jewel or any of the other 5 million chord playing bands in the world, but I wouldn't recommend it.
  23. Dude! Play Shenmue. That's a really good game. Also, somebody said that they couldn't emulate SNES games at a decent speed, but I had that SNES emulation thing on a Dreamcast I owned once and it worked great. So I'd recommend it. Also, Skies of Arcadia is pretty fun, I hear. There's also one of the best air shooters ever, Ikaruga, for Dreamcast. The Dreamcast has some kind of chip in it that's the same as a bunch of arcade machines and thus is capable of playing "arcade perfect" fighting games such as Mavel vs. Capcom or Street Fighter vs. X-men. I don't know which games specifically were released for it though, so you'd have to check. My best friend who happens to be a child genius says that it's possible to create a pretty impressive super computer if you have 16 Dreamcasts. Don't ask me how though. Hahaha.
  24. Waaahaahaaaaa! Hell yeah. Actually I chose this avatar because 1) It's not that type of thing that most people seem to go for (Cause he's not pretty like Cloud and Sephiroth) and thus is a bit unique. And 2) I love Vikings and he looks like one! And yeah I have a beard too, but I actually wasn't thinking about that when I chose the avatar.
  25. Sorry about that. Thank you. Are you talking about Phalanx? Well. . . I GUESS that counts. Hahaha. Damn, you beat me by like 13 years too! Well, I'd love for you to do it if you can. Gotta warn you though, this song is much longer, heavier, and more complicated than Phalanx. But I've got faith that you can do it. I've actually come a long way with it from the point I started. But since asking everyone for advice again and again wouldn't really constitute a remix that is entirely made by me. This means that your name being stuck onto this remix will also represent all the advice I've gotten from everyone else until now too. Let do it! Tell me what you want me to do, and I'll do it. Can I listen to your newest death metal remix?
