Interesting mix - however, I felt this was too short like many of the mixes back then. It takes a bit too long to develop into the main thrust of the mix as well, which probably is part of the problem here.

I posted this in the other thread, but my MAGFest status is up in the air now after I've been thrust into a dangerous financial situation out of my control . In a few days I may be able to cement what will happen for me.

This is a pretty nice mix - well-built trance, although I feel like it would've benefited from some more volume variation with the main synth in the background. It shows how far the electronic music on the site has come though, and damn it's good to hear.

So...my MAGFest status is up in the air after I find myself in a heartbreaking financial situation out of my control.

We're hoping to use that as the main theme, so to bring it to a full circle at the end as part of a medley (that particular FF3 track is short on its own).

I definitely wasn't a fan of this mix - for the most part, it just rides on the strength of the original melody without changing things terribly much. It just rubs off like an almost-midi rip with a few alterations, which doesn't strike me as terribly inspiring.

I'm hesitant to comment on a situation that I don't know much about. However, I would prefer people try to respect the rules of the server. And that's all I'll say because of my lack of specifics on the situation. It doesn't have to be so difficult, and that goes for everyone.

I'm not familiar with the original, so I don't know how closely it sounds to the original song or how it compares. This is a curious track though, but plagued by its shortness and somewhat from the samples.

I was never really a fan of this track because I felt that it didn't really add much to the original, which I would much rather prefer to listen to over this.

So this is unexpectedly kinda cool. My only comment is that after a few listens, it seemed kinda repetitive, but this is fairly catchy - it reminds me of the PS1 Mega Man X games for some reason with its synth driven energetic pace that isn't too fast paced.

Bardic, Tensei, and I got done with a campaign of it earlier...noticed the new achievements and...Tensei and Bardic both died when we were running to the rescue vehicle .

There was some thread someone posted about bugged graphics, with that pic (minus the commentary there), and a few posts later someone posted "Want to see your map? TOO BAD IT'S ME BLACKSMITH" - maybe zircon or someone else can link the thread.

I might be interested in coming - would it be possible for someone to host me for the 23rd up to the 26th (when I'd want to head back to NY for a possible meetup on the 27th & 28th)?

I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more love via reviews. It is one of the more standout older mixes on the site. As has been mentioned, it isn't Israfel's best work, but considering generally the other mixes around this time period, it stood out. I did love his take on this though, as it's definitely unique.

I remember this mix...it didn't really grab me back then, and it still doesn't. All I see here is the original melody generally just slowed down with a little more complexity to give it the imagery of rain.

The arrangement here is kinda strange. You have this electronic bit that goes on for a little, and then it completely shifts gears. I'm not sure if I'm a real big fan of that, as both parts felt underdeveloped IMO.

My main issue here is that it sounds kinda empty at around 2:35, and that the samples are probably holding things back, but otherwise it's a pretty good take. Love the goal sample that everyone has been mentioning!

So my main complaint here is that things get too repetitive pretty quickly with minimal variations. Things get a little more interesting towards the end of the mix, but it came too little, too late.

This is a pretty interesting approach to the original track - I don't think I ever envisioned it being done in a mexican/spanish sort of style. My only real complaint is how short it is for such a novel approach .

Oh man...the guitars stick out like a sore thumb here, but I know it was on par back then. My complaint with this mirrors my complaint with most of the other songs from the flood though - way too short and doesn't explore the source much, except to layer the original melody in a particular style.

Lufia 2! I remember hearing this song way back in 2002, although I didn't remember it all that well until I listened to it again just now. Hearing it again, I remember what put me off originally with this song. It didn't deviate terribly much from the original, and is too short. I do love the approach with the calm soothing style along with an excellent use of background instrumentation/effects, but there's quite a bit more that could've been done with this and it just seems like there's so much potential. The ending also rubs me the wrong way as well, and the samples don't hold so well.

There's some definite production issues here - things start at a relatively low volume, and then suddenly the lead synth comes out pretty loud comparatively. Other than that and some of the samples, this is pretty good as far as songs back then goes.
