  1. Nice pun! Also, awesome mix, I love how you guys can work sfx in a way that totally flows with the rest of the instruments, you don't just throw them in as filler for the intro/transitions... shows a really great understanding of music, I think. Been waiting for this one to get posted for a long time, glad to finally see it happen
  2. You're lucky zircon was a no-show or he would have kicked your ass with a showing like this on your part Nah, seriously, this one's okay. I really enjoyed the lead writing throughout the song and there were some great transitions, it just doesn't seem to click on an overall scale the same way your other compo mixes did. Still a fun blast from the past though, I really haven't heard this in a while.
  3. Just want to stop in and mention that I've been listening to Ergosonic's WIP and critiquing heavily to help get it to completion... you guys are in for a treat It absolutely does justice to the classic credits theme and will definitely strike a resonating chord with listeners. Everything I've heard off this album is fantastic, in fact. Can't wait for this one to reach completion!
  4. Congratulations on the successful album artwork release, Proto
  5. I can address two of those points. Flexstyle's work on the project isn't done actually; in fact he's doing at least one more. In the near future, you'll probably see "HoboKa and Flexstyle" next to Boss Boogie SNES since Hoboka can no longer run the project himself. That song is gonna end up awesome, no doubt As for Akuma, he's on it, he's just experiencing computer troubles at the minute so there's no need for him to put aside any other obligations. As far as I'm concerned, he's done the best he can.
  6. Yep, WillRock has jumped on (believe it or not, he actually begged me to let him have this one despite the hell that he endured trying to finish Bonus Time!) to defuse an emergency dropout situation at the last minute. Like that previous track, he tackled it in a style you wouldn't necessarily expect from Will if you're familiar with his back catalog. You'll hear this one in the upcoming preview, but for those of you who've played Mario Golf 64, you've got something similar to that OST to look forward to that I'm personally ecstatic about. Cheers Will!
  7. Ok, I've got a bunch of little critiques here that may or may not make sense. The drum feel like they're trying to be kinda glitch-soundy, but the drums themselves feel pretty dry and raw. Try filtering them a little bit or compressing them more to get a bit more of a bite out of them. The writing on them is very cool. That chippy lead/arp sound is also pretty weak, it feels like its playing the part almost lazily, if that's possible for a synth. I can't tell if it's the writing or the sound, but that part isn't really clicking with me. Some really cool stuff when you get that deep sub bass rolling, but the breakdown section with the bass didn't work as well. Like you'd need a different bass sound that was a bit more friendly with modulation to pull that off. Basically, the parts where you've got more going on in here almost always feel like they're the ones closest to nailing the sound. They're dramatic, moody, and complex enough that it holds my attention. Overall I like it man That's obviously not a comprehensive list but just a few things that jumped out to me whilst listening. Take it for what it's worth.
  8. Yeah, we're rocking this project. melody and I have joined the coalition and we're getting things moving proper Gonna be tiiiiight.
  9. Honestly, I could give this a proper mod review but I think melody nailed the issues better than I could have, even. Listen to the man, he knows what he's talking about here
  10. It sounds like you've just been smoking too much
  11. If it's any consolation, I would have given you a YES vote if I'd been on the panel Probably why I'm not a judge, lol... At any rate, this is a really solid song and it really should be super-easy to fix up. I'll keep my eye on this one.
  12. I always felt like this was one of the more creative and unique songs on ~Wind~, glad to see it getting some front page love The intro was what grabbed me initially, it carried some of the quirkiness of anosou's usual style and helped segue naturally into the body of the mix, which is a little more "typical" for his style. Solid mix!
  13. This is VERY adeptly arranged and produced, though I feel like your bassline is pretty buried and isn't really coming through at all. Your staccato strings are also a little robotic, get some velocity changes and dynamics and stuff on those! Other than that, this is quite enjoyable - I wasn't expecting the changeup but it sounds good to me Not much critical to say about this one, it's good man! It's like Ziwtra-meets-some-random-anime-soundtrack, I dig!
  14. And Flexstyle knocks it down to six! While we originally had something completely different slated for Brothers Bear GBA, due to time constraints Flex jumped in and completed his 6th (!!!) project remix and did an amazing job with it! Short, sweet, and arguably the most fun remix on the entire project, this one's got big beats, anthemic synth riffs, and (as far as I know) is one of the first remixes to include beatboxing. Something to look forward to
  15. I can vouch for both of these things. I'm a pianist and I'm a very low-key person. I'm not a loner but I keep to myself more often than not. By contrast, all of my friends practically are guitarists and they're VERY outgoing and almost dominating at times.
  16. My track is done and done here
  17. That'd be Monobrow! She really came through with Cavern Caprice, delivering something extremely ethereal, ambient, and VERY expansive. It's gonna be a really nice counterpoint to Anosou's already-posted remix of the same theme. Ultimately this is one of my favorite project mixes to throw on and just lose myself in, Katie did a friggin awesome job here We're down to 7 mixes left, folks. This is getting really, really close. Think we can wrap up by the end of April? I think it's doable... I hope! That way, when Flexstyle and I both get out of school we'll have ample time to work on mastering and final production aspects and get a final release package ready to go for evaluation. We'll see how it plays out!
  18. This is fucking beautiful. No two ways about it. I gotta say though, your piano sound is really overbearing in the high frequencies, it has a rather thin sound that doesn't really match up well with the rich, full instrument sounds you're using in the rest of the arrangement. Try some EQing to bring out a bit more tone in the piano, or hit me up and I can bounce some out using my Emotional Piano samples that I think will fit a lot better here. Lemme know if you wanna take me up on that Also, Yoshi avatar uprising in this thread XD
  19. Well, don't get me wrong, this isn't impossible to fix. But in order to do so, I think you'd probably have to spend quite a bit of time learning the many facets of humanization that you could probably learn more easily by just making more music in the meantime. I think your time would be better spent coming back to this later, but that's 100% my opinion. I do have to change something though, since I've used EDIROL Orchestral and the samples are actually quite nice. I'm not sure why they're sounding so stiff and unrealistic in this song, maybe it's just an illusion caused by the unrealistic sequencing, as well as the attack and decay values like Stevo is saying. I know for a fact that you can get great sounds out of the VST you're using, actually. I realize my last post was kind of discouraging, but I hope you don't take it to mean that it's impossible to get this up to workable standards. I was just giving my personal advice on how I feel is the best way to improve your craft, based on what I've seen from other people burning out when they dwell on a song for too long. Your mileage may vary.
  20. Hey bro, I noticed the responses on your most recent judges decision thread. If you need piano samples, hit me up :-) I've got some good ones. PM me.

  21. In all seriousness, I've suggested this before. I would love to see the ensuing shitstorm that would happen when you guys inevitably trolled the fuck out of anyone who submitted anything XD
  22. Yeah, Mod Review is generally intended for completed songs, not 20 second loops. Expand this if you ever feel like it, and then we'll talk about mod review
