  1. Yeah man, I don't want to deter you from completing your artistic vision, but just know that it's already a VERY popular album on the genre. I'm sure this has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a huge dubstep fan (actually, it really doesn't. It just worked out that a bunch of remixers wanted to do something in that style. But don't worry, we've got all different subgenres in here; ambient dubstep a-la Burial, hardcore wompwomp, some completely crazy shit from AnSo, and a few surprises. I think you guys will like it.)
  2. Just FYI Damon, we've already got 5 dubstep tracks on the project, haha. I'm totally cool with some dub influences on your song but I'd avoid taking it all-out in that direction just because the project is already saturated with a relatively niche genre.
  3. I've had, like, 7 or 8 people express interest in the track at some point, but Flex is the only person who's been able to submit a WIP. I've asked people like Prince of Darkness, Dr.Manhattan, and even virt to tackle the track (because, as the last remaining track, I want to save it for someone who'll really do an amazing job with it) but either got negative responses or haven't heard back from them yet, so it's still up in the air. Last I heard, Archangel was working on a WIP for it but I have no idea if that's going to be completed anytime soon, so as far as I'm concerned, get me your WIPs if you've got them! If they're not quite up to par, there's always room on the bonus disc for you guys to still get involved with the project I want as many of you contributing to this as possible, even if we can't fit everything onto the main three discs. Cheers everybody, thanks for the support!
  4. Don't worry, I for one am not losing enthusiasm for the project - we have these lulls from time to time, it just takes a few reminders from time to time to get everyone back on track. Since the deadline is still a month and a half away, I can't mandate anyone to get their work done now. It's more of a friendly request to help pick things up on the project so we can get back on track and not lose too much steam. Glad for the concern guys, I promise we'll get things done and it'll be one of the biggest and (hopefully) best OCR projects ever! It might just take some time..
  5. Hey, wow, this is actually very neat Great choice of source, you used it very well in your remix too. Generally, I love your arrangement - the transition from ambient chillout groove to hard rock feels a lot more natural in action than it sounds on paper, so good job for making that work! To be honest, starting off the song with these weak harp samples isn't doing you any favors; the rest of your sounds throughout the remix are pretty high quality and expressive, but the harp sounds like something I'd expect out of a general MIDI soundfont I was ready to write off the mix before it really even started, and I'm guessing other listeners might feel the same, so see if you can hook yourself up with some higher-quality harp sounds. The Youtube mirror isn't doing your song any favors, but listening on soundcloud is definitely recommended for anyone viewing this thread There's still some compression issues on the drums, like Guifrog stated, and I think you should consider toning down the rhythm guitars in the second section so your lead synth can have a little more room to stand out. Otherwise, it's pretty good on the production end of things. Very good arrangement though and a great listen, I'm pleasantly surprised to see a good DKL source get some love! I hope you take the time to polish this up in a few places, hopefully it'll be OCR-ready with very little effort!
  6. Yeah, I suck. I'm sorry for not getting to this earlier It's been a busy week and I've been super absent-minded. Maybe it's just because this has been improved more since the last versions that everyone else commented on, but I love this I'm not sure that the simplicity of the arrangement lends itself to OCR's standards as much as a more complex arrangement would, but god this is beautiful. It sounds like something I'd hear right out of a game soundtrack. My suggestions? Tone down the pad and the reverb a little bit near the end, it gets kind of heavy on the speakers and just becomes a wall of sound. I know you're going for a reverbed, airy feel (which you accomplish wonderfully) but at some points it gets just a little too intense and I think you should make some EQ cuts here and there to give things a little more room to breathe. I'd say, submit this. The simplistic left hand writing might be too repetitive for the judges, but your source breakdown seems to be all clear, and I honestly feel like the atmosphere of the remix more than compensates for any issues in arrangement that may or may not be perceived. Regardless of what happens, I'm keeping this on my playlist It's a wonderful arrangement and I feel really bad for not getting around to reviewing this earlier, so my apologize for my lameness! Best of luck with whatever you decide to do with this song!
  7. So, uhh... are you guys all dead or something? The only person I've really heard from regarding their project tracks lately is Brandon, and the completion of his song hinges on me watching the rest of Dexter Season 4 Seriously, it's been exactly 2 weeks since I've heard updates from anyone! It's been sad, I miss the constant flow of updates, but I don't want to bug anyone individually, so... I'll just throw this out here now - if you get a WIP into me now, I'll be very happy
  8. Thanks for making this mod review ridiculously easy. SUB THIS NOW, this is one of the best songs I've heard to hit the WIP forums in months. Good friggin' work you guys The outro really sends chills down my spine, with the sax and the whispers... This one's a keeper, I can't imagine any reason it wouldn't get past the panel.
  9. Please tell me "flute loops" was intended as a pun. Please, please, it's too clever to be unintentional!

  10. Bumping this so when I'm available to review it, I'll see it. I'll try my best to get to your song today or tomorrow Sorry about the wait!
  11. We've actually got a very talented artist (Flexstyle) on call for the project to master all of the songs. As it is, he usually just does small mastering touchups on already-finished songs, but in your case I think your song could really benefit from something more in-depth cause the arrangement you've got is pretty neat so far. All you need to do is finish the arrangement and I can try to hook you up ;-)

  12. Link's Awakening and Teen Agent are finished, the rest of the albums are close, but not finished yet. As long as you get your submission in soon (which it seems like you already have) I'm pretty sure you'd be 2nd or 3rd in line. The Megaman album still has a lot of tracks that need fixes before it'll be ready to release.
  13. I'm not sure whatcha mean. Do you mean you don't want anyone else mastering the track or you haven't been able to ask for it up until now? :-P

  14. I'm with chthonic, I'd loooove to see something 3D that can capture what I liked about Sonic Adventure 2. All complaints aside, that's one of my all-time favorite games and I hold it in extremely high regard, and I don't see any reason they couldn't recreate that feeling in a new game.
  15. I'm still really disappointed they didn't accept my art on the project!
  16. Hey Rozo, I just noticed some clipping and weak samples in Spume, I think you ought to go back and fix that up! Nah seriously, I've heard a lot of songs from the project and they're pretty great quality. Major props to folks like Proto, Will, halc, chth, Stevo, Rozo, DA, and the alike for really taking this project to the next level, I can't wait for the final release! It's been a long time coming
  17. Congrats on getting hitched! The remix is really awesome and, although the mixing isn't quite as full as I'd hope for, since it was all a live performance I bet the judges would probably give it a bit of leeway on that front. The remix itself is really cool and I'd like to see it on the site, personally!
  18. Oh my god, that guitar sequencing at the end of the song... SO GOOD! HOW DO YOU DO IT!?
  19. I can only hope your DKC3 mix is a fraction as good as this. And yes, that's a very overt hint
  20. When you guys went through the purges, did any artist that had their work removed come back and raise hell trying to get it back on the site?
  21. Your kick drum feels really weak, I'd like to hear something with a little more body to the sound, especially when you get past 2:00-ish. Other than that though? This is brilliant, I'm not able to see if the source checks out (I don't have winamp + chipamp on this new laptop) but if that's above the 50% mark on source usage, then submit the hell out of this one! Awesome work!!
  22. The Favs gave some very useful advice, before I do another mod evaluation I'd like to hear you possibly incorporate some of that feedback if you'd like. I did a precursory listen and this version sounded much improved, but since you've got a set of feedback waiting for you to evaluate I'd like to hold off on my crits until you make any of those fixes. Cheers!
  23. Get on AIM, villainous cur!

  24. mv's still around, contributing to the One Hour Compos over at ThaSauce He's also got a kickass track going for the DK3 project that you'll all get to hear soon. But rest assured, he's still very much present in the community in some way or another! Also, woah... Destiny's really been doing some awesome work, this is incredible! Good to hear she's still putting her musical talents to work.
