Well, if you REALLY want to hear it, here's a silly entry for a One Hour Compo I did last year on the Superman theme: http://compo.thasauce.net/files/Nutritious_-_Toddler_Superman(OHC050).mp3 As the name implies, it was literally created in one hour. http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/OHC050

Ok, sorry for the delay on this. Listened at home and while I do agree there is a good low end presence (which I don't think my lower quality headphones were picking up), it does still feel pretty empty in the low-mids (200-500 range). Though it's getting old at this point, I used this mix at a reference point, which might be helpful. Disclaimer: it's entirely possible that it's just me and I'm crazy, so I'd wait for someone else to listen for this (other mods?) for the low-mid presence before making changes. Anyway, I really like the writing here. I can't listen to the youtube link at the moment, so I can't talk towards source usage. However, there was good variation on the drums, the piece moved well between sections, and there was a good balance of various elements. Everything sat pretty well in the soundscape as well. On the guitars, I think they work pretty well in this context. You'd be pretty hard-pressed to top this without a live performance. The only part I'd change with these is the repeated chords at the very end - when everything drops out and the rhythm guitar is exposed it sounds fakey and isn't a great way to end a song with this much energy. Highly recommend you rewrite the ending. Not much more to say here. I'll try and compare it to the original when I get a chance to check arrangement. In the meantime, maybe someone else can chime in as well. -

Great stuff here. Definitely helping me get through the tedious part of my work day right now. -
There's a starcraft terran mix that won DoD a few years back: http://dwellingofduels.net/duel.php?dir=07-08-PC_Games&month=pc%20games&img=pc

Heroes vs. Villains (OC ReMix vs. The Bad Dudes) - History
Nutritious replied to Mustin's topic in Projects
Well, Fish was really supposed to be leading this one off, then passing it over for me to add stuff. He's just moved across the Atlantic, though, so I know things are pretty busy. Honestly not sure if he's planning to go through with this, though I'll try and find out for sure. -
Where are they now? OC ReMixer edition.

Here's one for you (kLuTz): http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=31470 -
Ok, so I decided to give it a shot as well, pretty much because listening to the song and reading the attempts to decipher them is actually pretty funny. Unfortunately, I don't have much to add.

NP man Yeah, if you could pull it off now, that'd be great. You can work on the track and put it back on when you're ready. -

Interesting, could be my headphones here. I'll listen again on my studio phones when I get home. -
Nice vibe going on in this mix, man. I've been looping it at work. Waiting for the next version.

Ok, at the start, it feels like everything has a HP filter on it. Is this on purpose? Sounds like I'm listening through some really small speakers . It's hard to crit this as is: the drums feel tiny, but this could easily be due to the fact that they have no low end. I can't listen to the source at the moment, but the arrangement sounds really cool. See if you can figure out what's going on with the complete lack of low-end and repost. At that point, I should be able to crit it better. EDIT: Ok, listening again, I take PART of it back. The rhythm guitar has some low-end to it, but that's all I can hear. Is there a Bass on this mix??? -

To add to Emu: When I first heard it, this honestly felt like two songs stacked on top of each other. You've got a loop + nice bass synth going to start off - though I'm pretty familiar with this source, I couldn't figure out how you were going to have it mesh with the existing foundation. When the source did come in, it didn't feel like it agreed chord-wise with the bass line. Now :47 actually sounded a LOT better. The parts sounded like they were on the same page. There still were a couple clashing notes, but on the whole it was closer. Easily my favorite part. Back to the same clashing at 1:23 as before. 1:52 felt especially off in this respect. I'll also echo the repetative drum patterns that really could use some variation. Cool breakdown at 2:17. Now, maybe I just don't know the genre and/or you're purposely going for an atonal feel, but I really think you need to get back to the bass part (and that pad that occasionally comes in) and reexamine how it follows the proper chords. The synths on a whole were pretty cool. I wasn't really feeling the lead as much as the others, though. It was a bit on the bland side and had a pretty slow attack given the style of the rest of the track. Made it feel lazy, compared to the agressive bass. Besides that, I think you could add some variation in general to the writing in the song. 1:23 basically rehashes :20. 2:45 retreads 1:48. 3:11 repeats :49. You get the idea. Don't just copy/paste. Try and bring something new and interesting to the table. Get some new elements besides the 3 basic synths you're using now. Vary it up. You've got yourself a base here, but I feel like you could do a lot more. Good luck, man. EDIT: I should note that this is a source I've wanted to remix myself. So it's nice to see someone tackling it. -

Problem while exporting in FL Studio
Nutritious replied to Chernabogue's topic in General Discussion
Well, before I upgraded to a 64-bit OS, I would toe the line on 2GB with 4-5 instances of EWQLSO in an average orchestral piece. And that's with DFD streaming on. 4 instances of choirs alone can easily far exceed 2GB, depending on which Multi sets you load. I guess orchestra would be the exception, though, with so many patches open at once. -

Guys, keep in mind for FL specifically, there's an available RAM limit. If you're using the regular FL exe, you're limited to utilizing 2 GB of ram for your project. If you have a 64-bit OS, you can use the "extended memory" FL executable, which will allow you to use an extra gig of ram. Adding more ram isn't going to help him, but upgrading to a 64-bit OS and using the extended memory option should. Chern: can you post more specs for your computer? -
Subbed my track to the site tonight. Looking forward to hearing everything else on the album.

Yes, listen to the Fish. Also, I've opened up two more tracks. Beware your PM boxes. EDIT: Also need to mention, we've added Calebyte as the project artist. Welcome!
