OverClocked ReMix Design ?'s and Issues
The Pezman replied to Liontamer's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
The new dropdowns are a little... overwhelming. Are you sure we need to see that much at once? The "forums home" is a comparatively small link amidst the sea of everything else you've got in there. If nothing else, do you think you could display the original function for each of links prominently at the top? -
I definitely want to look into it at some point. Of course, I'll need to save up for a high end HD projector first, since I want the full home theater (and home gaming!) experience. Advice is free, right? P.S. Any news on the oil-cooled fishtank machine? Would probably run less than a tower, too...

FF7 is non-greatest hits. I don't understand why so many people want to know about that. As for length of time, I'll put that on a case by case basis. If one item is especially unappealing and I get one bid for it across two weeks, that's probably enough. On the other hand, if an item is more well-known, and I get several bids across several days, I'm more inclined to wait to see if anyone else comes out of the woodwork.

If you were serious, please put it in the "bid" form. Makes it a lot easier for me.

http://thepezman.yalespector.com/ Alright gentlemen, here is Pezman's auction page v. 1.0. This was my first time ever coding PHP, and while I did have a lot of help from my friend Yale, this was ultimately my project. And for a first PHP project, I'm pretty proud of it: it guards against duplicate and incomplete bids, and I set it up so adding photos is a snap for me. I haven't worked a lot with CSS yet, so excuse the site's drab appearance, but fortunately it's 1.0, so I have many versions to make it better. In addition, this is only a small sampling of the items I have for sale (the initial work of taking/resizing photos for a lot of items and inserting info to the database is high). I'll be adding to the site periodically, and making posts here in the thread when I do. But for now, check it out, and see what appeals to you. And if there are any reasonable features you guys would like to see, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Please link to that site from now on, Prophet.

So my dad just bought a home theater system. What you need to know about my dad: he's not like me, or most of the people on this board, at all. He doesn't want to tinker around with various configurations in order to get the best sound possible. He just wants something cheap and easy to set up. Therefore, he purchased a cheap, all-in-one home theater system, the Onkyo S5200. The problem: for some reason, that system decided not to utilize the full power of HDMI, and says that if we want surround sound, we also have to connect separate sound cables (super lame). For me, that would be enough to return it straightaway, but I've also been having the problem of not being able to play my PS2 or Wii (using component video) through the system. Now, I've begun to convince Dad the system is worth an upgrade. So my question to you all is what sort of features (aside from the ones the S5200 already has) might be important to someone like my dad (who doesn't care for 100% precision sound or spending a lot of money). This is to ensure we don't get another system and find out it's missing some other critical component. For example, the Yamaha YHT-791 supports Auto Lipsync compensation, which would be great if I discovered the video and audio were out of sync. But I don't know if that's a common problem, especially since that system retails for significantly more than our current one.

Oh no, I've got a fine virtual server. But if I want anyone else to be able to access it when it's done, that won't fly.

So I'm working on a little site with PHP (which I desperately need to bone up on) to help me better manage my stuff. It will arrange everything in tabular format, have photos, give visitors the ability to bid on an item, and allow me to easily modify and update it (and if other people liked it, I could set up sites for them too). I wanted to wait to reveal it until it was finished but I don't have any hosting (and I'm poor at the moment... partly because I haven't sold much!), so I have to come out now and ask if anyone is willing to host such a site?

Touhou Roadshow: Intercross of Ball and Bullets
The Pezman replied to Schwaltzvald's topic in General Discussion
Could we get a little bit of context? What is tohou? What system is this game for? -
It looks like everyone's celebrating.

A Realm Reborn: Final Fantasy XIV Online
The Pezman replied to Malaki-LEGEND.sys's topic in General Discussion
That's a little surprising, given what I'm hearing. -
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete
The Pezman replied to Zipp's topic in General Discussion
OR... the original Advent Children was just a really really long teaser trailer. I wouldn't put it past them. -
Ba-ZING! (Because I totally didn't see it before)

Nope. Go to the bottom here.

What, a new game announcement not from E3? http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs/id-458 I'm not sure whether anyone else here is familiar with Telltale Games. I played both seasons of Sam & Max, and Strong Bad and Wallace and Gromit are in the queue. However, this completely knocks my socks off. MI is perhaps the most well-known adventure game series of all time, and though I'm not crazy about LeChuck's and the Voodoo Lady's new look, I'm very confident about Telltale handling this property. The Secret of Monkey Island is also being remade with awesome new graphics and voice acting. Presumably, new puzzles will be there too. In related news, Ron Gilbert is finishing up his new game at Hothead Games.

No More Heroes. "You don't want to hear the story. It will jack up the rating of this game even further." "Well... fast forward through it." So that's exactly what happens. The entire backstory of the final boss is fast-forwarded through, and then you fight her. It's also kind of funny that she'll dodge every attack you throw at her, but not in the same way. And then there's the special ending, but I won't give that away... I preferred 6 myself.

Tim Follin: Dirge for the Follin - Musician Recruitment
The Pezman replied to Liontamer's topic in Projects
I'm sold. (Silver Surfer) -
Y'know, I'd actually heard of Can before. Just not that song.

You know what you want to major in. Trust me, that's a huge thing to be going in with. Of course, take some courses which sound interesting so you can leave yourself open to the idea of switching... with something like this, it probably pays to KNOW whether you want to be a doctor. Personally, I'm not great at structuring my own time, so at college, group activities like karate and Senate were in, while open-ended activities like learning to remix were out. Now that college is over, I'm hoping to focus more internally in order to learn the skills I need and want for the future.

Because you know it kicks Shark Week's ass. So it's going on next week in the ol' big Apple, and as a jobless Computer Science graduate there is no way I can't go to this thing. It looks like all aspects will be discussed, from code to culture to art. It looks really awesome and I'm quite excited. Anyone else in the area who's going to go?

Taking requests for video tutorials
The Pezman replied to Zephyr's topic in Music Composition & Production
So I've been trying to remix my song, and I've come to the conclusion that it's not one big thing I need help with, it's a bunch of little things: How to lay down a drum track, how to arrange a melody, etc. So what would probably be good is, the next time you start a remix, to take a videocast of the whole thing. From drawing in notes to copying in other things, and then record some narration over the process. -
Bleh, it was a huge haul last year. Not sure if it's worth it..
