No summary will ever be able to do justice to the story itself. I've been watching the animated series a lot recently, so I've been getting more into it, but I wouldn't want to catch up to the present just with summaries. Now tell me how I can digitally read the comics themselves, and I'm on board.

Apple's looking to get this stuff worked into the official W3C standards. So it'd show up in every browser.

I'm surprised people are talking so much about the UI, when the real deal is here:

So I don't even know how to describe what's going on, either scientifically or culturally. All I know is that this song has the effect I'd like to imitate: http://bohort.ouam.fr/~blue/s3k/album/210%20-%20SnappleMan,%20Ashane,%20norg%20-%20The%20Doomsday%20(Doomsday%20Zone).mp3 From 0:00 to 0:15, and then again at 1:54. I think it's meant to simulate an old school radio or gramophone. But most importantly, I'd like to know how he did it. If Snap himself will answer, or if someone else who has a pretty good idea would instead, it would really help me out.

From what I understand the algorithm for throwing up pages is slightly different. IIRC, Chrome will browse your recent history, which Safari 4 does as well, but the latter also takes page visit frequency into account.

Disney goes back to it's roots... about time..

Cajun firefly? Cajun firefly? I had trouble getting around that one in the trailer. -
I did educational game design as part of an REU last summer. What we developed wasn't amazing, but it was pretty good considering our resources. One thing for sure is that development takes a long time and it's difficult as hell to debug. It did get accepted to an ACM conference, though, so I've got to be pretty happy about that. It's good to know people are interested in researching on how games can be used to teach.

More like Blagspat am I right?

You have to download this one manually, since it's a beta. I think so. Bookmarks definitely, not sure about anything else. Well...

diy & experimental electronic music

So I just downloaded the Beta today... it is hot. A number of changes to the UI, but those pale in comparison to implementations of CSS3 and HTML5. CSS3 has the interesting property of allowing objects to move across the screen, uprooting Flash as the pretty much undisputed web technology for doing so. If you download the beta yourself, you can see it in action here. HTML5 also offers native support for multimedia (video, audio) while finally deprecating old useless tags (<b>, <i>, <frame>, etc.). I can't wait to delve into crafting some new pages with some of this stuff. Perhaps some of the crazy new CSS stylings will eventually make their way into OCR... any ideas, Dave?

I guess everyone has caught the facebook bug, because now all of a sudden I'm getting friend requests. Facebook is built around these, so obviously I understand how it works there, but what is the point on the forums? Does being someone's friend carry any benefits? We can already directly contact anyone here. Plus, I don't know the people who have friended me that well (by OCR standards, anyway, in which I've actually met some in person). So could someone explain to me how this is all supposed to work?

That doesn't follow from this: You know what does, though? My penis. It's legendary across the country.

"Vexatious queef" is a fantastic insult.

I've heard this term before but I don't know what it means. Help, anyone?

This academic year, Dickinson unveiled its kickass new science center. Of course, it's not for Computer Science so I don't care about it that much. However, they do have a fantastic lecture room which allows people to easily hook up their laptops to ceiling speakers and two projectors. That's harder to come by than it might sound. While the room is meant for teaching, I've had ambitions to repurpose it for some kind of performance, and VJing seems to fit the bill perfectly. I've known about VJing for some time, and I've tried to do some research into it, but while I have found and played around with some VJ software, I haven't come across many youtube videos or anything which could be considered a "VJ performance." I was wondering whether anyone here knew anything more about it and could tell me how it usually works (i.e. do they manipulate the video in real time, etc.).

It's a bullshit holiday, and I hope that when (if) I'm not single on Valentine's Day I'll still believe that.

ReMixer & Composer Merged into "Artist", Change Near-Complete
The Pezman replied to djpretzel's topic in Announcements
::shrug:: It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. At least as I understand, remixers and composers are two different entities. I, personally, would want to be able to effectively identify both the remixer and composer and have them in separate categories. I don't know if anyone else feels the same. -
Bump this back up... any new information?

Did you use Flash, or something else?
