  1. We HAVE to dance to Wario Ware at every meetup from now on.
  2. Pictures! Two albums on Facebook or all 358 pics on Picasa; whichever you prefer.
  3. Alright folks, now that Otakon's over and done with and this trip's only a month away, it's time to kick this into high gear. Anybody who hasn't seen this post yet and lives in the area: consider joining us! I guarantee it'll be fun. If you're not a roller coaster fan, we'll definitely be perusing the waterpark at some point, there's already a possible 3 non-coaster fans coming, and I'll ditch a coaster here and there and spend some of my time hanging with you guys too, so you'll have company. My plan at this point is to buy the tickets in slightly less than two weeks, on August 15, so I need final decisions on who's coming by that point. If I get the tickets fast enough, I may try to mail them out to everybody beforehand, though it may be easier for us all to just meet in the parking lot or something at a specific time. Either way, I'll also need phone numbers of everybody coming by the trip. Once again, note that we need at least 15 people to come in order to get the group discount that drops the ticket price from $49.99 to $23.99. Right now we have 10 folks from OCR who are relatively confirmed, and another friend of mine who wants to come as well, so we only need 4 more people at this point. Also note that, as I mentioned in the opening post, if our numbers get close but don't quite make it, I'll just buy 15 anyways, so count on your ticket being $24 regardless.
  4. I'm doing the BGC right this moment in your honor. It is glorious. And dangerous.
  5. HAP BIR! (obligatory Power Glove ref)
  6. All Shell gas stations make the ring noise with their registers apparently; mine does as well.
  7. Hahaha, Don J Pretzel. Happy birthday you two! DJP, don't hit that ridiculously huge stash of alcohol you own too heavily.
  8. I'll be there, of course. I'll probably just do like I did for djp's July 4 bbq and bring a car full of chips. (I'll leave the vuvuzela at home this time, not that Otakon allows it anyway)
  9. Brushfire: Alright then, we'll make it Sunday for sure so you can go. Bahamut: Does this mean I can move you to the Definite list since I plan on helping you move and, therefore, know you'll be in town?
  10. Oh man, this is crazy cool. Great use of the Kirby song, and I actually liked the time signature switch. I'm mildly dissapointed this wasn't some kind of update/rearrangement of AmIEviL's CastleMania mix, but we didn't suffer for the loss here.
  11. Only just started the game Monday on the metro ride to work (I bought it Sunday but was in the middle of a dungeon in Spirit Tracks I didn't want to lose my progress in), so now I'm outside Stornway grinding my new party of n00bs up to better levels. Having SO much fun so far. Can't wait to rock Tag Mode at Otakon.
  12. Moguta: I was wondering when you'd speak up! Amy: Aww. I was hoping we'd be able to figure something out on that end, but so few other people had plans to do anything BUT ride coasters, it just wasn't looking all that feasible.
  13. I gamed early and often, but (and this sounds like an odd choice compared to everyone else's answers so far) I think it was ToeJam and Earl that really made video game music just click with me. That game is the entire reason I both started playing saxophone in 6th grade and joined my school's jazz band in 10th.
  14. I'm kind of disappointed they didn't take the opportunity to upscale the Aria of Sorrow tracks in this compilation; they just ripped them straight from the last package. Those tracks are really horrid quality; I could do much much better with Winamp, Highly Advanced, the game's GSF set, and the DiskWriter output plugin. Everything else is great quality though.
  15. After talking with several people, I've come to the conclusion that the official date for this meetup either needs to be Sat. August 28 or Sun. August 29. Later gives more chance to get over Otakon money woes, and I myself don't have enough sick leave to take off another weekday so soon after the con (I haven't been working at that job a full year, so I don't have vacation leave yet). This will unfortunately make for long lines for coasters, but such is life. Anyways, either date is fine, and if anybody has a specific preference between the two, speak up. If not, we'll probably end up going Sunday since I believe Saturdays are always slightly more crowded. I've edited my opening post with a list of people who said they may go so far. Even if you said definite before now, I put you down as potential in that post since I hadn't come up with a date. Now that we have one, let me know. Even with djp having to bow out due to the honeymoon (good excuse though), we've already got 17 if everyone on the potential list comes, which would definitely net the group discount. Though honestly, if people drop out enough to dip below that, I'd probably still just buy 15 tickets anyways, so regardless of number, still count on your tickets being no more than $24.
  16. VUVUZELA But no, seriously, it was loads of fun and the food was fantastic; couldn't ask for a better 4th celebration. Glad we all got together for that for sure. Of the seven bags of chips I brought home, I haven't even finished the first I opened. XD
  17. I only own Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII myself, but I can recommend both. DXC is fantastic if you're a fan of classic CV (whether you already have Rondo of Blood via Wii Virtual Console or not), and if you're not, Symphony of the Night is included as an unlockable port. Crisis Core is pretty much the only product in the Compilation of FFVII, barring the original game of course, that people agree is relatively enjoyable. I did borrow Mega Man Maverick Hunter X from a friend some time ago, and that was good stuff to.
  18. Actually, I went ahead and grabbed paper plates and plastic cups while I was at the store too. (about 100 of each) For chips, I forgot who all was coming, so I just grabbed three 13.5oz bags of Giant-ripoff restaurant style Tostitos, two 12oz bags of Doritos (one nacho cheese, one cool ranch), two 11oz. classic Lays, one 16oz classic Utz, one 10.5oz harvest cheddar Sun Chips, and three bottles of Tostitos dip (two chunky salsa, one cheese). I better not hear any complaints about lack of variety. XD (it's gonna be a trial not to tear into any of this tonight since it's just sitting beside me on my bedroom floor, looking delicious and what not) EDIT: Hey Vinnie, how many people do you and Amy have with you? I'm driving by myself, so I was considering hitting you guys up on that "go to your house ahead of time to carpool" deal.
  19. This video perfectly sums the movie up in comparison to the cartoon series in 30 seconds.
  20. I'm still on for sure, and I'll bring a random assortment of chips with me, so you can mark that off the list. Unfortunately, I don't think the vuvuzela I ordered on eBay will arrive in time, so I won't have anything "fun" to bring with me.
  21. For years now, I've been telling people that OCR needed more Power Rangers, and finally someone delivers. Ignoring the fanboy nonsense for a minute, this is a solid track. Love the guitar breakdowns and synth work, and the classic feel had me trying to air guitar and everything. Absolutely delicious mix.
  22. As usual, I'll be there, but last time I was at Otakon, the tokusatsu cosplay group got together right in the middle of this. Seeing as how I'm cosplaying as a toku character this year, this means I might have to cut out in midpanel. I'll still meet up with everybody for the inevitable lunch, though.
  23. I just Paypal'd you the cash for the three Wiimotes and nunchucks. Like I said in IRC, just keep them on you until the next time I see you (if not Otakon, then when you move).
  24. For what it's worth, IMO, the midi tracks included with FFVII PC were actually better than the original PSF's if you used the Yamaha XG softsynth included. Running those midis through a non-XG softsynth or sound card sounded atrocious, naturally.
