The sax sound kind'a screws with my idea of the orchestra, it bleeds all over the other tracks' ranges. Once it shuts up, the remix sounds all the more grander. The remix sounds a bit quiet, but other than that, it's all good. The arrangement is great, the theme sure brings back memories. Memories now colored by the remix.

My first reaction to this, the first seconds of it, was that I was somewhat put off by it. Then it actually got started, and it's really... cool, no pun intended. Chill. Makes me wish it was before christmas so there's more reason to play this for ppl.

What, you too? And I thought _I_ was source-deaf. Then again, this is one soundtrack I know real well, and I love what you've done with it, Nutri. I really feel the scope of the remix, the word epic certainly describes it well. The name describes it well, too. The arrangement is pwnsome. It's all pwnsome.

This is one of those tracks that can play in the background and then suddenly be noticed. The percussion is cool, the sitar sets the scene, and the combination of rock and world music works well. Considering the age, it's an impressive track. Gotta agree that the distorted guitars aren't great, tho. The overall mood is a little too heavy, but that's countered by the track not being too long. Doesn't outstay its welcome. What's with the whispers around 1:40?

Gotta agree. The explosions are a nice touch, although they don't save the track when it gets repetitive. If it wasn't so repetitive, it would have aged better. Even so, I'd place it among the better from OCR's early days.

This is certainly a track that grows on you. First time I heard it, the piano felt cheap (piano rendition of Aquatic Ambience? meh), and the last minute ill fitting. Now, it's among my favorites. The pad heard 2 minutes in is just plain beautiful, and that wouldn't have worked without the long piano intro. Dunno if it's a minute of jungle too long or a minute of jungle too short, but it does work this way. Highly enjoyable.

As with a lot of people new to ocremix' kind of remixing, you're redoing the original progression with new melodies, not writing a new progression, a new arrangement, for the same melodies. That being said, this is better than your last version. You're improving. This is a pretty cool creative idea, and the submerged sound is great, I might actually use it in one of my remixes. You do need one clean and clear instrument to sound through the waters, tho. The Wingless uses a pretty cool one in his Super Metroid tracks, and DrumUltimA had a really simple but elegant one in Moon Rhapsody (could be a humble sine wave, not sure), you should listen to those just to hear how it could sound, as both of them are both soft and clear. Then see what presets you have that sound like they could work in your remix. There's also no clear rhythm in this wip. While it's not impossible to make this work with the right performance and mixing, it'd probably be easier to add some soft drums/percussion and/or some bass writing to provide that rhythm. The delays from the piano are beautiful and really sell the oceanic sound, but they mud up the track and turn the piano into more of a pad. Nothing wrong with that, you just need something else to provide rhythm and melody for it. If you listen to this and compare it with some other remixes, you might find that this doesn't have enough high frequencies or low frequencies to sound good, it's stuck in the middle. That's why you need bass and/or percussion, and a clean lead. The vocal clips don't sound good. They kind'a clash with the much calmer sound of the music. I get that you're trying to do, but the synth voice doesn't sound good with the processed piano. But back to the arrangement. I have a suggestion, something for you to try. First of all, take a backup of your project file. Then... At around 0:42, you could leave a pattern with just some simple backing, no melody, just one chord. Next, you start layering instruments on each other on top of a simple progression of two chords (or more, your remix). You can then introduce your lead instrument playing some bit of the source melody, and after that take the track to the "chorus", a recognizeable progression from source... then move into something else, maybe back to those two chords I suggested before. By starting from other chords, you can't just copy the melody or progression of the source into it, you have to write yourself, and that's where a remix becomes a ReMix. Maybe two melody snippets from different parts of the source work well ogether on those chords. Maybe you can't do anything but repeat the same five notes over and over. I don't know. That's for you to explore. Good luck.

I midi-modded before him. There's always newbs showing up, newbs that search the forum for their favorite song and comment on that wip despite that it might be several months old. They don't know better. This is _so_ not the first time. Check the post date and last edited date of the post with the link to the file. That should do it.

OCR doesn't do top remixes lists. OCR doesn't even rate remixes, so you must be remembering something else. Or you're just not at the site you remember. Everything here is (supposedly) top list material.

Y'all do know the remix hasn't been updated, so that's three months of inacticity after my feedback post and then a series of feedback posts on a wip the remixer might have forgotten about. If you want to help people with their wips, it'd be better if you'd go for stuff that's recent, preferably something that hasn't got a lot of attention. Just... check the dates.

There's a couple of custom sigs in the first post, musician only tho. Should get Usa to make promotion sigs as well. Or you can grab mine. I update it with progress info and whatever. Ripped the idea from OA. As for taking tracks and having the skill for it, do it for fun. If we feel it's not good enough and we can't help get it good enough, you will have made a nice remix yourself. If it does get good enough... we'll all be happier.

Just a minor update (see first post), but worth posting about. Also, updated my project sig. A little new info.

Hey! Intro is pretty cool, tho the piano could use more reverb to make it blend in more. Also, if you want the track to build up, save the main melody for later. Starting off with just pad and piano lets you have the track longer without repeating the melody. 0:38 the choir/organ/whatever writing is in the wrong key, and clashes with everything else. The sample itself isn't so bad, it just needs to be in the right key. Mixing between the sawsynths (the trance sound ones) is a little poor, the rhythm one needs to have its resonance and cutoff lower, and the other one could have those two raised instead. Drums at 2:25 get nice and interesting, good writing, but there's clipping and other unwanted distortion artifacts. You need this to be loud, but it can't clip. use a Limiter on the master channel as the very last thing you use. Before it, a multiband compressor is good to use, you get to compress each frequency band separately, gets you more headroom for the overall volume. Pander's right about this being too conservative. Work out your own arrangement, your own backing to the melody, your own spin on the melody, your own chord progression, your own progression from part to part. I think this is a step in the right direction tho. It's got energy. The drum patterns here are certainly worth keeping and using in a different arrangement, same source or something else. New project: try writing something simple and reminiscent of this on roughly the same chords, and then move from that into this. See if that works. Or, use this to get some production/mixing practice. Whatever you think will let you improve the most. Good luck! Okay, back to my vacation from the wip board...

Those remixers are Unknown to me. And who's DJ Crono? So far 5 remixers, out of... many.

There's a handy checklist (that nobody uses) that can give you some idea of what to listen for. Listen for the bad, listen for the good, comment on both. Random praise won't help the remixer, tho, so make sure to be specific enough to tell the remixer what you like and what you don't. Don't worry, stuff as simple as "I like the lead, but I can't hear the drums" is good feedback. WiPs and reviews are a great way to give back to ocr. There's always a few wips with barely any response, review threads in need of more reviews, etc.. Welcome to ocr.

The great thing about "asap" is that if it's so flexible. If it's not possible for a week, that's fine, it's still within the parameters the expression sets. Next weekend. Looking forward to it. Then again, that argument is so not valid if you tell me you won't have time to work on your track until June. 2010.

Dude, it's only been out for a day or two. Gnällspik. I like it. It's a little weird, I was expecting something harder, noisier. It also gets a little repetitive, sounds like this was just a source track you found and wanted to do something with and then subbed when it was long enough. It's by no means unenjoyable, it's just a little difficult to review, I think. It's got a very pleasant sound, which I'm gonna try to emulate when I've got time for it. The flute-like synth towards the last quarter of the remix is especially cool, and it works well with the bells. The bells, btw, make it sounds a bit like a xmas tune.

I'm actually seeing more activity than I expected. Sadly, it's still not much. ppl, you wanted in, you're in, so get them tracks done! In other news, I'm gonna be a pretty busy the upcoming few months, and Usa probably won't have much more spare time on this side of new year's than he had on the other. Still, the project is rolling on, we've got a few new remixers, a few tracks taken. First page will be updated... soon-ish. So will my sig image progress... news... ad... thingy. We're hoping to release in late spring, tho I suspect that's a bit optimistic. Still, with the activity we _are_ seeing, it's not impossible. For ppl too lazy to read all the above: If you're in the project, get your track done and send us the track or a link to it asap.

What about name changes? Just remembered that DJ Crono changed his remixer name to Jovette Rivera, dunno if there are any others. Should the old remixes have the artist tag changed to match the remixer's current remixer name? Oh and the name tag of one of Destiny's sd3 remixes begins with a space.
