  1. 17 hours? ... Huh, I suppose I better get started on something, then. The last two weeks have been pretty lousy, in terms of trying to get anything done after work. See y'all in 17 hours.
  2. The MIDI lowered that one texture a fourth. Raise that one texture a fourth (or five half steps) without touching anything else and listen to the difference.
  3. The square you use is the same throughout the remix, but it's pitted against the theme at 1:58 so it's best to compare the source from there in your mix. The source is about a fourth above what you have written, there.
  4. Well said. I'm not normally one to just say good job without constructive crit, but this track was one of my few exceptions (I liked it in the compo enough to give it a vote ). I would give you some crit now, but it would be no different than what's already been said, so I'll just say again that the off-kilter choir with the chiptune stuff was very neat (it reminded me of IJI's Sector-Z music). It hit the right chords for me, for some reason, lol. Keep the 8-bit part... but please move the texture that pervades the track to the right place. I think the original MIDI was wrong, so if you followed that then it'd be off, as well. Listen to the source and make the mooooooove. (I know I said I wouldn't give the constructive crit, but... I can't help iiiiiiit)
  5. It's moving alone, don't worry. It's no easy track, though.
  6. The arrangement was alright (like you said, conservative, and there's nothing wrong with that), but the track was messy. I would be flat out lying if I said your track was objectively 'good', because there is a lot of room for improvement (and I was kind enough to point out where those areas were). Sorry if you weren't looking for critique, but if you post in here you'll often come across someone that wants to help you get better at creating music. Take it or leave it, but it's silly to get angry because someone is trying to help you out. I'll try to leave out the 'much' statement - I normally don't use it, but it's started to grow on me as of late . Oh, and if I'm 'distracted' by the faults then many other people will be, too. It's better for you to fix the faults, if possible, than to get angry at listeners who are rightly 'distracted' by them. If there's a defect in a meal wouldn't it be silly for the cook to ignore the complaints by his/her guests?
  7. Reverb, much? You seem to saturate the overall soundscape with so much reverb that it's hard to hear anything at all (I mean, I'm hearing decays with 2s+ on this). Dry up some of that reverb, or alternatively set some EQ on the reverb so it takes up much less space (something that Willrock does to his track, btw). Since this is a track that likes to step it up a note at a time the reverb has a doubly horrible effect on the track when it bleeds a line from one tonality to the next. The EQ is very, very bright. Cut down on some of the highs and try to fill the lower end of the spectrum a little bit. Conservative, yes, but it was still enjoyable, from what I could hear. It'd be great to hear some serious cleaning up on the overall track, though.
  8. He's the only one here that gets an anniversary post as well as a birthday one. Well deserved, too, imo.
  9. It'll run well enough. I can play it at roughly those specs.
  10. Or C - have been out of town due to work (Which is the case, for me). Sorry, but I'm not going o be able to help out this time.
  11. Checkin' the site out, I saw it was your birthday today. Also, I noticed you checked this site today (perhaps to see if anyone wished you well). As a classic remixer you really deserve at least one birthday wish on your board, here.

Happy birthday, man. Even if you're not in the remixing scene right now, I wish only good things for ya - you've helps make this site what it is, and I tip my hat to you for that.

  12. Great stuff, here. Fun fact: those moans are straight from the game, so it's actually kind of impressive that they're so suggestive in this track. Then again, now that I hear them in the game... Wasn't expecting it the first time I heard it, but it works very well. Awesome work, bro.
  13. I haven't played very many games from the last generation of consoles, and virtually no games from this generation, so if any of those things are updates from pre-2k6 then I'd still be impressed and very happy (but for the wrong reason, I suppose).
  14. Yeesh, play the first game - I'm sure it's not nearly as flawed in any of those areas as the original. I'd be happy as hell with those flaws, since those are inevitably improved with a generation or two of VG technology (in comparison to the first game, anyway).
  15. I just gave Flexstyle, DaMonz and Evory access to the forums, but I'd love to have more and more people getting involved in there and helping each other out, so if you currently don't have access to the forums please let me know and I'll contact Darkesword to get you access. Glad to see your entry in there, DaMonz, and I'll be looking forward to hearing other people join in on it, since it not only helps push you forward, but it helps push everyone in the right direction. tl;dr, if you can't access the forums please let me know so I can rectify the issue.
  16. Another Anti-Syne mix so soon? An Anti-Syne mix that I haven't heard yet? Very nice. This one takes some time to build up, but once it really gets into the meat of the mix, there's actually some very cool things that come in and give it some neat flavor. It does take some time to get there, though, so if you're a listener that wants to drop out because of the beginning, don't; you'll be missing out on the better section of the track. I like the style, but I will agree with DjP that something that varies a little in style would be a good idea for your next mix. Though to be fair, this IS only your second posted mix, so it might not be all that bad if you get one more punk-like mix, if that's what you fancy .
  17. Took me 2.5 - 3 years... no, I'm not posted yet, but I do have an accepted track.
  18. Ha, Retro City Zone. Thanks, glad you liked it - so you know that was done with two 'rectangle' waves and a triangle (though the wave sounds were a bit poor). Figured a fellow chiptune dude would appreciate that :P

Just wait for my Zeal mix to be posted, it'll blow your brains with awesomeness (or you can hunt for it on the WIP forums, if you don't want to wait).

  19. Stevo doesn't get birthdays. He gets level ups. Liontamer should adjust your site name to commemorate your leveling experience. Or not. Happy birthday, bro.
  20. Hmm... I like the era of music you're going for and all, but for some reason most of it isn't quite clicking for me yet. I liked the 'Five is Average' track and the tracks mastered by bLiNd, but the others, not as much, as of yet. I think I need to let this play over the background for a day or two - either it'll grow on me or I'll be able to say precisely why it isn't clicking with me. In either case you'll hear nice feedback from me, so hang tight.
  21. Send us some work on it and we'll put ya on the list. No need to be shy. On a similar note, here, there's more than The Earth that's open and available for people. A couple of these tracks really need some loving, here. The Strongest Man - Seriously, I don't think the album can be released without a remix of this. Someone please take a look at it. Port City - Another iconic track from the game. Again, it's hard to imagine an album without it. The Universe in a Jar - The Four Gods - Probably less iconic, but these have some serious remixability, here. They just have a very majestic sound to them. They're begging for some people to jump in and produce some more kickass tracks. In short, Earth is open (which is undoubtedly an important track), but if that's not to your liking then there are plenty of other great tunes that are in need of some love, here.
  22. Haaa, Bonkers, lol. Looks like he had his own idea about using those voices in his track. I'm glad he enjoyed my track, though - it was not easy cleaning up the sounds to get rid of the background noise, so it's nice that people will appreciate it.

Yeah, glad he liked them. His tracks were pretty neat, too - certainly upper tier stuff there from him, as well.

  23. Not familiar with the source, but I'll trust it's all there. The performance is actually pretty tight, man. I liked it overall, but I felt that the guitar sounded too thin (not filling the soundscape enough). Not sure if it's my headphones or if it's something in the mix, though - it'd be nice if someone could clarify that for me. Love the bagpipes Yeah, this is pretty badass, especially if this is your first remix ever. Nice work - hope to hear this one updated. Oh yeah, and welcome to OCR.
  24. Huh, must've been a temporary broken link, there. Wouldn't checked again if you didn't tell me that, though, so thanks. Awesome
  25. To your credit, the instrument sounds much better. Personally I'd probably pick something else anyway, but it's pretty tolerable, now. I agree with Metaphist on the ending. Right now it just seems to end too quickly. It sounds like the track should just be getting ready to kick it into the next gear; instead it has a FO. Give a thought to expanding the arrangement, 'cause right now it just seems a little short.
